Katotaka
Okay it's a dummy of some sort. Just made that but don't know where to post, so I just toss it here.Wut?The "genesis" of this project is this post on arms-cool forum:http://www.arms-cool.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=172578&page=1Don't read Chinese? It's fine, juz talking bout Y No 1 make clip on NV scope.I then google'd some pictures to see if I can make a 3d model.Few moments later...It started to look like the real deal.I even separated the parts for the ease of making. This project is stopped at some point cos it is freaking expensive, and some parts/accessories for this project are almost impossible to find at the time. One of which is the MARS rail, both VFC and King Arms are discontinued, I even considered PDI but it is prohibitively expensive, even with weak Yen at the moment. But this looks sexy, eh?Didn't know why they became real.Plastic rods are used to connect them together, printing them would increase the cost drastically.Tapping for screws.Another "missing piece", note that the real deal's mount is not available separately. The closest thing is an SF M951 mount, which is not easy to acquire either, but this just popped up selling on facebook so I grabbed it.This project wouldn't be a go if I didn't see this mount available.Test fitting...Cutting clear plastic sheets for lenses. This PL coating sheet is PITA to find, AFAIK it is discontinued for years.Reproduce markings...... texts are just texts, the logo and arrow were not complicated, drew them in vector and good to go.Printed out on normal paper for test fitting(In fact I missed some part in both the model and markings, particularly the actual on/off switch under the gain knob, and + - markings on battery housing cover.)Have the markings made on water transfer decal, it's been a while since last time I touch these, so I make 3 copies on same sheet, in case if I screw up.And I folded this decal in half after taking this picture, luckily I have 3!ACM MARS rail, surprisingly well made, but some extra holes which are not on the real thing. And this is for use with TM VSR-10 or Tanaka M700, mounting on my APS-2 would need some drilling and tapping.Luckily receiver's OD is the same between 3 platforms, but VSR and M6700 are short action while APS-2 is long, note ejection port are different in size.BOOM! AN/PVS-22 DUMMY!Hmmmmmm........... awwwww yeah..........BTW, this has to be done

Katotaka
Thank you guys Very cool build, very detailed! What paint did you use and where did you find the ACM Mars rail? I used black primer from Mr. Hobby http://www.mr-hobby.com/en/itemDetail.php?iId=249 Then some flat black enemal spray paint, apply water transfer decals with LOTS of mark softer/setter http://www.mr-hobby.com/en/itemDetail.php?iId=214 http://www.mr-hobby.com/en/itemDetail.php?iId=215 ... and flat clear http://www.mr-hobby.com/en/itemDetail.php?iId=273 But I would say ANYTHING can do, this thing is 6/6 nylon and has some microscopic holes on the surface, extremely chemical resistant, and the color will "soak" into the tiny holes, even dyeing would do the job, using hobby-specific stuff is just me being fancy. Very very cool matey , well done indeed !P.S not useless if something looks cool it can NEVER be useless ! Instead of useless I would call this negative in the usefulness department, I have to take it off when I need to shoot. But it's totally worth it
Katotaka
Very cool build, very detailed! What paint did you use and where did you find the ACM Mars rail? Oh, a fellow airsofter on Arms Cool forum says the VFC MARS rail is available again. Maybe you can expect them show up in online stores again in a while, or go just ask them if you need one. Lone_Bullet
Useless... I want one. Add mini projector in it so it projects Sauron's eye onto victim. I had good coffee today. -vibrating - Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
