Hey all,

I am hereby calling all experts to help me out with a conundrum. I am trying to compile a list of all AEG gearbox versions and I need the help of all the experts here.

First off, No guesses, no "I think it might be" responses, and no "chances are..." responses please - this needs to be accurate information.

So, here's the list so far...

  • Version 1 Gearbox...

    TM FAMAS F1

    TM FAMAS SV

  • Version 2 Gearbox...

    TM MP5-A Series

    TM M16

    TM XM177e2

    TM M733

    ICS MP5-A Series

  • Version 3 Gearbox...

    TM G36c

    TM AK47

    TM AK47 Spetznas

    TM MP5k

  • Version 6 Gearbox...

    TM Thompson SMG

    TM P90

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So my question is, can you help fill in the blanks? What gearbox does the TM G3-SAS, the TM G3, the TM Uzi, the TM AUG series use? Any more? We're going for a complete list here people - I know you won't let me down ;)

Cheers all :)

G3 series = Version 2.

Sig 552 = Version 3

AUG= Version 3

& you may aswell say that AK series = Version 3 (as you missed off the AK47S)

Gimme a few mins and i'll think of some more.

Would also be good to include makes, as ICS M4s use differnet gearboxes etc.

EDIT: sorry i see you've included the makes.

Cheers for the info Kronic. Yeah, the ICS M4 is somewhat of an anomaly (as with the Systema Rifles) as it has a custom 2-piece gearbox.

BTW - we don't see you nearly as much as we should around these parts mate. Good to see ya ;)

do you want a "windowed"/ " no window" info on the v2 boxes?

Windowed??? Not sure what you mean there. :(

The p90 uses a slightly different V6 to the tommy gun, the motor is held parrallel to the spring and piston like the V1, on the Tommy gun its in the pistol grip like on the V2/3. not a huge deal really but still worth noteing

PSG1 is V4 with its longer piston stroke(ooh matron)

Uzi is V5 , made with a lot more plastic in it that the others, its unique in that the piston travels towards the back of the gun too create the "recoil" effect , and the barrel actually passes throught the cylinder.

and M14 is the V7

edit: the academy L85 uses a fairly close clone of the V1 gearbox.

the CA 36 and is shorter brothers use the V3

Cheers for the info Caz.

Yeah, the P90 and Thompson both use the same gearbox though don't they? Just an extra piece on the Thompson that directs the motor's housing in a different direction? Essentially though, it's still the same gearbox isn't it?

Cheers ;)

Aha I see.

Nah, not important for this list, but if you want to provide the info, it may be helpful for some other members here ;)

Cheers. :)

You ask AK 74.

There is no Airsoft AK74 (unless you include Guardr conversion kits, which use the TM AK47)

Sorry to be a picky *albartroth*, but.. meh :P

Gotcha. Although Guarder are/were releasing an AK47 weren't/aren't they? (Not sure if it has been released yet). So all the TM variants use v3, and the Guarder one is unknown at the mo - correct?

ICS and CA are releasing an AK74.

No idea what gearbox they'll be using though.

Probs a V.3 copy, but the ICS one is a split box.

OMFG FFS R22, SEARCH YOU NOOB!!!

http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/?filnavn=/a...c/gearboxes.htm

I take it you're updating that.

Just there's a few there that we may have missed... or not.

hehehe, cheers mate :)

Yeah, I noticed that list, but it doesn't seem particularly accurate.

For example, the CA36c is listed as BOTH V2 and V3 gearboxes - Which is it?

Plus, where is the G3SAS, the M14, the AUG series, and the AK Series? It is somewhat incomplete, so I am looking for up to date info from the experts here. ;)

Cheers for the link though - shows some people read this forum for the 'articles' (sound like a Playboy reviewer :D )
