exoframe2
You install it like so: Your G&P hopup looks quite different from mine (Marui plastic in foreground, G&P metal in background)
TerranCmdr
Okay, so I'm guessing I'll have to sand it then. And yeah, not quite sure why it looks so different. What's that brassy metal piece in the top of the second picture by the way?
exoframe2
Oh, ignore that. That's the tool that comes with the KM hop buckings to help install the spacer. It makes a handy installer for those brass rings though. If you don't have any spares laying around (I've found they vary in size slightly- I have a couple that won't fit in my G&P hopup and a couple that will) then some fine grit paper along the inside of that 'collar' section would be the best plan. TerranCmdr
I have one spare, and it seems to be the exact same size as the one that came with the new hop up. (i.e. it won't fit.... what kind of hop up comes with parts that won't fit by the way?) Anyway tomorrow I'll go get some sandpaper, and I'll dremel down some barrels and such. Thanks for the help. crazy4beat
That sounds awesome but the pictures don't work. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm... It works for some PCs, but some PCs, don't. exoframe2
Very nice work I'd really like to get my hands on an AUG LMG flash hider, as well as one of the newer closed-end ones. I have a leftover barrel section I aim to convert to a 16" carbine length barrel with a bayonet lug and closed flash hider. Just to keep things fresh If anyone has any leads on AUG flash hiders, please post up or send a PM my way.
Hedganian
The 'closed' flash excluder refered to above is the second-generation one as used by the AUG A2 (That's the one with the receiver rail - or what Marui call the Civilian version) and beyond. The AUG A3 (the ugly one with all the sticklebrick (as I've heard it refered to) on it) has yet another design of flash excluder, while the AUG A1/A2 short barrel, commando and 9mm versions have different muzzles again. I'd be very interested in getting hold of the A2 (closed) muzzle, as well as any others that can be found. As above, please drop me a PM if you know where to get hold of these... TerranCmdr
Okay, I'll try not to sound like an idiot here, but is that metal ring really supposed to go where I have it? Because in my manual, it looks like the ring is on the opposite side of the rubber, towards the front of the gun.
Hedganian
Place the hop-up rubber on the end of the barrel, taking care to align the protruding tongue with the groove in the barrel. Carefully place the hop-up unit onto the barrel, over the rubber. Make sure you get it the right way up (yes, it matters!) Put the little clip into the gap in the hop-up unit - if you've got it on right, it will click into place, holding the hop-up unit in place. Now drop the little brass ring onto the barrel from the other end (the muzzle end) and let it slide all the way down to the hop-up unit. Put the spring on in the same way (assuming you still have it - it seems to work fine without it) Now put the inner barrel back into the outer barrel and screw it into place with the two screws. Put the rest of the hop-up unit together if you haven't already. Job done.
TerranCmdr
Okay, now I know what I'm supposed to do. Thank you a whole bunch man!
TerranCmdr
Okay, well the project is finished! And, believe it or not, it shoots perfectly! I want to thank everybody that helped me on this project. You guys rock! Here's the chop job I had to do with the dremel: And here's a bunch more pics: .....Now all I have to do is find a way to fix that stupid handle.
meGrimlock
very nice dude!
Hedganian
What stupid handle? And I can't believe you just chopped the end off your inner barrel - I hope you've cleaned and filed the edges down, or you'll be looking at a lot of jams as BBs hit the jagged, swan-off edges...
TerranCmdr
Actually I managed to rig up the handle using a rubber band, a pencil and some electrical tape. As far as the inner barrel is concerned, I filed it and tested it before I even put it in the gun. As I said the gun fires flawlessly.
Hedganian
Am I missing something - what's wrong with the handle? What handle do you refer to? Good work with the conversion - it all looks good
TerranCmdr
Thanks. The handle I'm referring to is the foregrip that folds up. When I got it it didn't come with a spring or a bottom plate, so I kinda had to rig something up myself. In the pictures it's not even attached.
