Fatal
Mine really sucked, the gears actually ripped out of the plastic frame. It was pretty much a hunk of plastic and metal after that.
UrbanMarine
TM makes aftermarket metal gears for their electric loaders.
Panoptes
TM makes aftermarket metal gears for their electric loaders. TM have electric loaders?
Furey
I've never seen them myself
Nasty_TheYankWelshOne
I've never seen them myself Nor have I. I've got on of the TM 300 round speed loaders, and although it takes me awhile to load all my magazines, it's never failed me.
UrbanMarine
I'm not sure if they still make the loader, but I've seen replacement gears floating on WGC & Ehobbyasia. Stock they used plastic gears but TM offered metal gear upgrades. That's one of the downsides to TM. Unless you live in Japan some of their stuff doesn't make it out into the HK market then to us. I've never come across one in person but they made some. Apmaman's idea might work. If you can find the right sized gear in metal, it may work.
kojak
So the $50 HFC loader sold here still has plastic gears?
Cubeman
Most likely.
Noveske
I believe there were two versions of these. One was made by a Japanese company and the other by a Taiwanese manufacturer. The Japanese version (which I proudly own) was known to be a lot more reliable. I've had mine for 3 years and it's still running strong. Other than gear stripping, I've heard the loading lip also cracks. Again, the Japanese version had a strong lip. If they are used properly, the gears shouldn't strip. fingertwister
So the $50 HFC loader sold here still has plastic gears? Yes in a word. I have 2 of them. Once you open them up and re-align the gears there is usually no issues. That said you can doctor it to work by using gears from an r/c shop.
aznriptide859
Both the ones I have/had have metal gears, albeit crappy pot metal ones.
apmaman
Does everyones only load around 80bb's before starting to sound like its about to stip its gears? Not very useful if you have 190rd mid caps and only manage to fill 80 bb's
aznriptide859
Usually it has a "straining" sound only when the magazine starts to put pressure against the incoming BB's. Otherwise, I've been able to fill all my mags up to almost full capacity each time.
Vercingetorix
A link to your loader mayhaps?
apmaman
As soon as I hear that sound I stop filling because I dont want to ruin the innards. Maybe I'll give it a bit of juice and see if it can fill more than the 80 or so BB's ive been getting...
BoNZi
http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-603.htm Huh that looks interesting?
Vercingetorix
If that comment was directed at me, maybe I should have specified, I am looking for a link for the one that is confirmed to have metal gears. I'd rather not get the wrong one and be stuck with plastic ###### that breaks easily.....
