ColDaz
So, has anybody been watching ''Over There'' on Sky One the last 2 weeks? It comes on at 11pm on a Tuesday and is on it's third episode this week. Basically, it seems to have chronicled some events that some 'newbies' in Iraq have experienced in the first few days. There are some really *fruitcage*ed up scenes and there are a few quite shocking turns of events with who gets injured, outcomes etc. This week really shook me up, especially with the [spoilers in white] - scenes where Bo comes to terms with losing his leg. Hit kinda close to home with my dad having recently had something similar happen - So what do people think?
Lance Jackass
I liked it. Not sure that i agree with the idea behind it - ie making a drama of the iraq war, but its good viewing.
oikoik
its so-so. the first ep was nonsense. the VCP ep was better.. i was hoping for a updated ToD type series, but that hasnt happened. when angel sang i wanted to nuke the planet.

oikoik
*nukes planet* edit: you b*stard. just when i got that horrendous scene out of my head..
ColDaz
I liked the bits where we found out about peoples nick-names and about the crazy black guy who ordered them forward 50 feet into nothingness, and also the scene where the sarge lets Bo know exactly what he would do if he risked any of his men again. It does feel a little hollow at times though. I'm still really surprised at what they have done so early to what seemed to be the main character.

HaVoC
It's entertaining. It's better than 99.9% of programs on TV nowadays. Good enough for me. It's a TV show for Pete's sake, it's not going to be at all grounded in reality, is it?!

I am a big fan of war movies but there's something about the way they did 'Over There' that just isn't right. Also, many of the episodes were hollow and, for lack of a better word, stupid (ie the first episode)

Agent Orange
in america the first season ended a while ago. i like the show, but not alot. I mostly watched it for the firefights, because i didnt really find the story all that interesting, or progressive. In some episodes, they manage to waste about 40 minutes doing nothing. but the later episodes got better btw- for u brits (non-major spolier here) still in the beginning of the season; i think its in the 3rd or 4rth episode, where the team is trying to seek out the spotter for the mortar fire. anyway theres a closeup on Angel's (guy who sang) M4, and you can FAINTLY make out the lion in the Olympic Arms logo! I couldve sworn it the was same logo youd see on an ICS M4. lol i think they used ICS M4 R.I.S.s for the show. kinda cool, just something to look out for.

And when you say "first season", I hope you mean "only season" .

Lance Jackass
It seemed good untill it got tacky. Like zooming in on the guys ACOG when he drops the insurgents. Tacky. Theres a hell of a lot of nice gear in the series though - ESS goggles everywhere One thing is i dont really understand what the hell is going on - is it during the war or afterwards? doc_newstead
It's set during Operation Overlord, D+3. A US Cavalary unit has been sent back in time in mysterious circumstances, and they have to battle their way to Paris with their superior weapons. Like Dan Dare, but in reverse. Most certainly seems to be set after the war. Seems ok To me, although i definitely found the old skool world war one style "over the top chaps!" moment in the first episode a bit...cringe inducing put lightly.... Misfit
Err, why is everyone saying it's after the way? The Iraq War is still happening.. it's just security operations now, but it's still the War in Iraq.
ED-SKaR
Err, why is everyone saying it's after the way? The Iraq War is still happening.. it's just security operations now, but it's still the War in Iraq. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no, its 'civil disturbance' officially the war ended in 2004.... yea right. been watching, its ok. that dude who sang is one of the few people who can sing so well, why are you having a go at him. and why dose that marksman shoot one guy then stop and faps for a few minutes before killing anyone else. he only used 2 rounds in episode 2. anyway, ED-SKaR rating= 5/10 could do better

If it was real, he would of picked them all off easily, but then we wouldn't have a 10min gunfight then would we I still think it is a pretty good program, it has enough gunporn in it to keep me satisfied.
