Yet another M4A1 clone...Improving the Gene Pool

I think it depends on your money situation. If you have a couple hundred bucks lying around, then yeah, go for it. I think it would be a noticeable performance upgrade. But if you're tight for money at all, then stick with the MP5. The UTG MP5 is a proven reliable AEG, keep in mind no one has had these AIM M4's for very long, they could be good for three months and then explode for all we know :P Also, the MP5 is by no means a bad gun, you should be able to compete with your friends still, unless one of them upgraded their gun to some ridiculous fps.

Yeah I don't have that much $55, but I'm using some of it to get my mp5 upgraded (tomorrow, new o-ring, ported piston head, hopup bucking). One of my friends might also get the AIM M4 so I'm not sure yet. I'm pretty sure after I rewire and put in my m100, it should be about the same fps as the AIM, but I'm still not sure about the accuracy.

My AIM M4 just shipped from Airsplat. I ordered it with a Leapers 1 x 40 Red Green Dot Scope with it. Will that attach to the 20mm rail on the gun, or will I have to buy a scope mount? Also a 9.6v battery corrects the fuse blowing problem?

Thanks!

Yes it will fit on a 20mm rail...no mount required. And no a certain battery wont fix a fuse problem. If your fuse is blowing its because your gun is trying to tell you that something else is wrong. That's why electronics have fuses.

3.  I was using a nicd trickle charger - I could have been cooking my batteries and shortcharging them.  The amp gauge on the charger was reading 2amps charging - so by the laws of physics and chemodynamics - that means it needs (1.1amps batt capacity/2 amps charge amp = 0.55 hours of charging or roughly 33 minutes, but please somebody check my math) and I was charging in 15 minute intervals.

I suspect that charing a NIMh battery pack with a NiCd charger is likely to bugger it up rather quickly

also

Total Battery Capacity (mAh) divided by Charge Rate (mA) multiplied by 1.4

is the correct way to charge the battery.

if am reading it right you where charging at 2amp = 2000mA which is way too high for a trickle charge, most tend to be 50mA to 150mA....

If you need more info on correct battery charging then see here Battery Care

@apex - It did *FRUITCAGE* it up. Unfortunately its an ancient charger that has a constant amp output - so I suspect it also has a fixed delta peak for NiCD (which factor higher deltas peak - or lesser sensitivity to voltage change - than NiMH). Hence the trickle charge never kicked in - it wasnt sensitive enough to detect that the batts were drowning in juice.

What could I say - I was desperate - I wanted to skirmish and play :(:headbutt:

My 8.4s cant hold a charge now - I trickle charge on my superbrain for several cycles - nothing. I'll try a few more drain and trickles to see if I can recondition it *crosses fingers*.

@matakos - yes you can remove the carrying handle and mount it on the receiver rails or you can get a rail adapter for your carrying handle.

the 9.6v avoids one particular problem over the 8.6v. It avoids that collective strain when there is not enough power for the motor to pull the spring but enough to cause heat/strain buildup and eventually blow the fuse.

like what maverick329 said if there is someting else thats wrong with the rifle no matter what kind of battery you get - it'll keep blowing fuses - case in point m4ris_spec's 'exposed wire'.

which brings me to -

@m4ris_spec - can you point out better yet photograph that exposed wire?

@specialistcqb - corny as it may sound - m@d skillz make for a better time than a better weapon.

Thanks for posting those pics aciddrops :)

Looks like its shipped in a different box from the other, guess maybe to cut costs?

edit: just noticed it seems to come with a battery and charger aswell, unless they've been stuck in the box afterwards, cant get the 51qbh link to work right now so im not sure

Retail electricity, 0.2 grams of domestically produced rice distance BB,1

Do not know because it is not the "great" powerful reasons, or other reasons, did not identify any of its packaging manufacturers, as one country, dog, can not find any signs. But this does not affect its "glorious image" Ha-ha.

But it is really good work, it really is that the Taiwan plant out? Is old wine in old bottles while also giving us a fresh and new feeling

Metal wave boxes of metal pipes, large metal clips, adjustable pm up, particularly clips of shells used in the machine speed and feeling very helpful, read it :

@aciddrops - good hunting...interesting they have a packed in battery and charger - although it was a 7 cell battery. It seems to be an airsoft shop in the Guandong province of China (They seem to sell exclusively in the province only). I could be wrong - blame babelfish.

...which is a lousy segue for me to say...

...I FINALLY GOT A DECENT DAY'S WORTH OF SKIRMISHING...

The rifle fared quite well. I point it to one direction and bbs fly out.

I did that most of the day. During a break in fighting - I shot my gloved hand when I thought BBs weren't flying out. Stupid move - kids don't ever do this to test if bbs were flying out. End of story make no more mention of this please - my hand hurts and is angry at me - the left side of my brain keeps gloating 'I told you so' to my right side.

Did I hit anyone (except myself)? No. II'ma lousy shot. So I did the next best thing - lay down suppressing fire (battlespeak for spray n pray).

Its been great - the hi-cap mag streams out a solid line of BBs. Full auto on 5 seconds or more. On another note, I lent the mag to a squadmate - mag worked flawlessly I believe it was a TM - but I could be wrong.

The autowinding star SMag is another story. You have to give it time to wind when going on full auto. So there was a time that I was firing blanks. I was fine when I went on semi or when I limit full auto to 1-2 second bursts - you can actually go longer but you fire blanks after one long burst. I don't want to turn this into a star SMag review - I will leave that for later.

Battery lasted me for most - but not the whole day. I started losing it after abusing full auto for some time. It wasn't cold, it was a nice spring day. And yes the battery was properly and fully charged the night before on my superbrain charger (0.5amp, 45 m v delta peak setting).

What does this mean? Get a spare battery or consider a battery with a larger mAh or raise the mAh on the charger. Somebody did lend me their battery - 9.6v nunchuck - not sub c size but thicker than the AA I had (attribution to the kind gentleman will be made later, I wasn't able to ask him his name).

Some more field experience findings:

I was able to zero the sights - or close to it, so I will try it on a paper target (I actually used a plastic cap on the ground from probably 20 feet away).

The vertical foregrip helps a lot. BUT - BE VERY CAREFUL - the forces exerted on the foregrip can cause the hand guard to twist in such a way that it will disengage itself from the D ring. When put back on it wont twist off without considerable force - so I guess this was a function of myself pulling back on the D ring, pushing it back and allowing the front end to disengage its own ring. Should I remove the foregrip? I wont - it helps me aim, but I have to remember to be careful NOT to exert too much force on it. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions on how to do this? I was told this could happen to Dams as well.

Finally - P7HK9 of the C3 crew (shameless plug - Obsidian Dawn ops coming up May in the Southeastern Pennsylvania area - visit www.c3airsoft.com for details) was kind enough to bring a micrometer (like a caliper but is used to measure small object diameter accurate to 1/100th of a mm) to check the diameter of the inner barrel, the result - 6.120mm - so I guess the suggestion to change the barrel to a tighter bore one might make sense (this has gotten me thinking of going to 6.04, this will probably be done later). To compare he measured the barrel of a UTG sniper and came out with 6.08mm.

So I was able to skirmish with it. As promised I will attempt to dismantle the gearbox. I will do so this coming week - so please bear with me while I dismantle the whole thing...*gulp* :D

Excelsior!

Good job, Arivee. Just don't kill yourself nextime, okay? I thought Filipinos have a good shot. I should say so... I am planning to buy this gun, but I will wait until the price goes down. Any cheap retailers?

Thanks aciddrops.

Hopefully I dont take an eye out when I take the mechbox apart.

But I am a good shot - tequila, vodka - name it :P:D

Cant help you with the retailers - google is your best friend when it comes to that.
