Thechom
Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone knows of an Airsoft FN FAL, or preferably L1A1 SLR. I very much like these guns, and would like to own one. In fact if I could find one, I bet I could get my dad to gimme a hand with paying, as he likes them too! Well, I have just found one here, but I don't really wanna pay £2000! Any ideas folks? Cheers TheChom!
Tariel
Other than finding the very rare and still expensive conversion kit for a ver.2 AK GB, that's your other alternative or making your own.
Sao
Other than finding the very rare and still expensive conversion kit for a ver.2 AK GB, that's your other alternative or making your own. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Or finding the old and rare classic airsoft JAC FAL

Your options are getting the conversion kit, the Classic gas gun, or making one yourself.
Alex6714
Isn't VFC coming out with a FN FAL next year? According to the VFC SCAR thread.
minimiman
Fairly sure Warren at shootnscoot will build you one.
Jett
My mate dabbles in this stuff. Try Classic Airsoft for information. Maybe MGC too. Also Endoshoji is worth a look. Jett

Hick
UNcompany has a custom made one for $2K. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was pointed out in the first post, he doesn't want to spend that kind of money.
Lance Jackass
Bloke on ASCUK is selling one, after (i think) he gave up on trying to convert it to AEG. The L1A1s should go for about £300-400 without convertion i would have thought.
Thechom
GAH! It looks like I would have to choose between SLR, and a car! Because I would need to fork out like $800, and the gas rig I need as well. But I wants it soo!
Thechom
Sorry for double post. But I was having a think, and I thought... Hmm, maybe I could get a G3, and have a bit of a chop, and a stick of stuff. It looks like all I need to change really is the handguard, and add a handle to the top, and its pretty damn close. Now all I need is a G3 of some sort, and some ability to make things with my hands!

BigAl
^ Thats really helpfull ain't it mate! Whats the URL of the site?
Hick
Endoshoji.com seems to be the site with most classic airsoft stuff, but I hear they don't follow other countries regulations or something, so customs seize a lot of their stuff. I would look around the classicairsoft.net classifieds for one.
snorkelman
endoshoji tend to have a fairly large mark up on their stuff Following regs isnt really an issue for a UK sales - its more a case that they tend not to follow US trademark and orange tip rules very well and wont cover you for seizures. buying off of individuals in the states can be a little hassle (mainly cos its an unknown for most sellers to ship abroad) USPS express (EMS) is the best bet and doesnt cost to much If you're approaching a US private seller its helpful if you can do a check yourself on likely shipping charge (use USPS online price quoter thingy) and give them a run down on costs and what they need to do Once you've done that most folks realise it inst really a lot more difficult than posting the item to someone down the street and will usually agree to selling it to you a basic Co2 rig to run it off shouldnt set you back more than 130 to 140 quid using all brand new items and even allowing for the regulator coming over from the states (buy the reg from palmers) Other than the regulator itself the rest of the parts (hose fittings pressure guage CO2 bottle etc) can all be sourced in the UK, BUT make sure you have a local source for CO2 BEFORE you start putting a rig together or buying an old classic gun No CO2 locally then you're stuck with using 4oz disposable bottles etc which have a much more hefty running cost, or going for a bulkier and much more expensive HPA rig (if HPA is available locally instead) If you do get a rig together though (and a source for propellant) then you can use that one rig on any of the classics you have - theres no need for a large battery pack for this gun, a mini for that one and a custom shaped one for another etc. like you would for AEGs - nor is there a need for spare batteries for each to cover you while the first set are charging Just refill the bottle in a couple of mins and you're good to go again. bear in mind that a lot of these guns were made from plastic though and quite a few can be pretty creaky versus their modern equivs and a few of the mechanisms used can be pretty funky of ones Ive got: MMC SA80 series - plastic and creaky relatively simple internals with spring fed mags SP M16 pretty robust all metal gun with Escort internals that should last forever and current ones use standard mags Escort MP5 as per the SPM16 Falcon Toys AK47 - mix of wood furniture metal parts and a heavyweight ABS body BUT the internals are funky in the extreme and it uses air pressurised spring fed mags that are like hens teeth to buy and leave the gun with a real weak spot in terms of its reliability.
