Fuser
Why do people put green tape on M4 mags? If it's for realism, why do people with real guns put green duct tape on their mags?
Flakdragon
I know people do it at my site for identification purposes, such as so and so has this tape on their mags. You can also get more traction with duct tape when picking them up I believe.
alastairthegreat
people often use it to distinguish between different types of mag, locap hicap ect, and to distinguish between different users as mentiond above
DirtyMoFo
in real life i think it can be used to signify between blank ammo/live ammo etc. (well it was on die hard!!) but yeah i have mine on there so i know theyre mine, when you have 12 mags its easy to loose track.. alastairthegreat
it must be right if it was on die hard mate source of all my weaponry knowledge
Endospore
I would say mainly for identification purpose. It really doesn't provide that much grip (I've tried ). Â I would consider doing that with my mags when I get the MAG 8 pack, but I'm the only guy in our group that has an Armalite (unless this other guy plays with us, but then I can just tell that mine have the law enforcement markings on them)
Sinner101GR
The green tape your referring to is probably 100mph tape, its either seen as OD or Tan. Its better than the standard duct tape as over time it creates a stronger bond. Its also OD, which is "tactical"...
exoframe2
While I was in the Army, I occasionally put 100mph tape on the bottom of my M16 mags, as some had loose floorplates which would rattle and annoy the hell out of me. Â Aside from that I've used tape and 550-cord to make poor man's mag-pulls.
mgyz3
well i do it so i can see what type of mags they are , my midcap mags have no tape my real caps have blue tape and my 1 hicap has red tape

cllwayzata2011
I dunno about green tape but i put red electric tape on my mags so if i drop them i can find them easier on the ground.

Jack Bauer
What I do is, due to an unusual obsession with electrical tape, I put white tape around EVERY mag, and on the back, a square with a different colour. Blue for MP5 hicaps, red for MP5 Midcaps, and for no apparent reason, black on Mac mags (Yes, M11 GBB mags. I don't make a full loop with the white tape you see. Wouldn't it be easier to just put two panels of white on? Perhaps...). It's too common for mags to have a single colour, so mixed colour sets means your mags are easier to ID if they go missing. Â And the tape on mags thing shown in Die Hard could very well be it: IIRC, green mags are training mags, IE Blanks. Plus, if a mag has a rattly bit... Â As for a pic, hope this is what assaultsniper meant. Forgive rubbish photos, I'm a poor shot with a camera too... Â Piccy
cHk4
I will be adding tap to my m4 mags to stop them rattleing and making noise

Belladonna
*sigh* they meant the baseplate on the mag (not hicaps) comes loose, mainly on real mags, and rattles annoyingly... i know i magpulled my sa80 mags for OBUA, got digs for it, but i reloaded faster
