Utty
As seen on the news page. Now these are interesting. Sort of "internal" 7mm bearings, much simpler bracket mount offering compatibility with reinforced V2 boxes. Also seems like these are compatible with sector gear clips. Yeah I know, using conventional gears is no problem for most experienced AEG mechanics, but for those of us who like to perform frequent mechbox maintenance, modular gears are sweet, speed things up. Frakk2k
Looks great! I wonder if this would work in my spare dboys gearbox, might build something fun out of it..
n00bTard
I use these in my VFC 416 (because I was opening it up frequently) they are a HUGE time saver and so far have been very durable.
LordElpus
Anyone know a good supplier of Modify gearsets? Don't really mind where (although UK would be a bonus)
Smiffy1978
Anyone know a good supplier of Modify gearsets? Don't really mind where (although UK would be a bonus) +1 would be nice to get these in the UK, looks like it would make building my 1st gearbox a realtively easy task
Azulsky
I think Begadi carries them. In the US Airsoft GI is the place. I dont see why they didnt go to a bigger bearing size if they could.
noob_tactics
WGC also has them.
Utty
None of those retailers have the SMOOTH modular gears yet. They only have the old modular gears, which aren't nearly as cool.
Gigueand
Has anyone managed to test these in an ICS? Would they even fit?
Roecar
Does this mean they'll fit into CA gearboxes now?
Frakk2k
Considering WGC shop released a video of them installing the gears(?), im guessing they should have them in stock pretty soon
Utty
Does this mean they'll fit into CA gearboxes now? That's what they claim. And when you look at the shape of the SMOOTH bracket, it looks like it won't get in the way of the reinforced bits around the gears in reinforced V2 boxes. Considering WGC shop released a video of them installing the gears(?), im guessing they should have them in stock pretty soon Again, those are the old modular gears, not the new SMOOTH gears which are completely different. The old modulars are great, but: - won't fit in reinforced V2 boxes, and apparently some JG boxes - incompatible with sector gear clips
Roecar
This is exciting, I finally get the chance to build some either high torque or insane ROF. My Mech work skills are fail so to me this is huge!!!
Beast06
Anyone got any updates on the release dates?
Utty
Well, if the timespan between the launch of the original modular gears and when they became available at WGC is any indication, we may see the SMOOTH modulars in shops early 2010. Cmon Modify, people want these. Gimme some sugar baby!
Utty
New SMOOTH demo videos, as seen on the news page. They sure turned that TM M4 into a beast. After searching the Modify homepage, it seems they only have the Marui version of the SMOOTH ready yet.
Utty
SMOOTH modular gears out now at WGC! Gogogo!!!
Azulsky
I have a partial review already in the review section. They have been in the US for almost a month now.
Utty
Yes, the old version modular gears were also readily available in the states, but rarely anywhere else, for some reason. These being in stock at HK stores means affordable and quick availability for the whole world (baby). A shame I can't afford these right now!
