  1. There is an absolute dearth of usable rail space on a Mk17 once you start tricking it out. That being said, the operational ones I've seen remain spartan as the recoil impulse destroys most equipment mounted to it (increased failure rate for lasers and optics, even Aimpoints). A rail extension helps alleviate that, but only slightly (shifting lights/lasers off the piston's path). In the case of the Promoted Pawn front sight rail it simply allows me to use a less *suitcasey* front sight.
  2. Thanks! Yeah, it's secure but barely.
  3. DBoys SCAR-H -FN/VLTOR stock w/ stock hinge -VFC pistol grip and metal sling mount (the rear black plate) -Promoted Pawn extended left side rail w/ QD mount -Promoted Pawn front sight rail -ACM MBUS sights -Phantom ELCAN -Magpul hand stop set -Highspeed stickers -Magpul PTS selectors -Rebuilt innards, front wired to a PEQ box on the right side -BE Meyers style flash hider
  4. Thanks for your generous offer! I don't actually play airsoft worth a damn, I just enjoy building the guns, so I'll probably get bored with it in a while and if I sell it I'm sure there will be buyers.
  5. ollie - Sure, from short to less short. There are two adjustment cuts, both at the end of the stock tubes. It's got about the same length as a 1/2 collapsed M4 stock. It's a compact stock, I don't have compact arms. Unfortunately, there's no more room to add length to the stock tubes since the ejection port and bolt catch get in the way. hiawatha - that's a generic battery box I picked up from a local store. The optic is a Bushnell holosight.
  6. Thanks fellas. I was inspired by the Honey Badger but more by a build by Unity Tactical. Isamu, that's a 5" barrel with an 9" rail. I went as short as I could on the front end, if I had gone shorter the PEQ (battery box) wouldn't fit. Finding a suppressor to fit inside the rail was a pain in the rear, most are slightly too large in diameter. Regarding the stock, I was lucky and picked it up used here. Once I bought it I knew what the build was going to be. I only wish that the grip angle could be changed for an AEG base, because the PDW grip (while good) is awkward with such a short st
  7. How do you adjust the hopup on these? *edit - never mind. Grub screw above the chamber. What an unusual system. This is rather nice... Solid blowback, loud, solidly constructed.
  8. Got the barrel back today, cost $10 and it's a drop-in fit. Perfect. I'll get some photos up tomorrow. I don't suppose anyone's got a picture of a rear-wired SOPMOD with the gearbox opened?
  9. To be clear, that was just the style - I wouldn't dream of running an 11.1v in a stock Marui (or even lightly upgraded Marui). I've got a 7.4v in my Army SOPMOD. I dropped the outer barrel to be machined - the dimension difference from the old Marui style barrel to the new Marui style barrel is 1/16" smaller (about 2mm) in diameter, and 5/16" shorter (about 8mm) in length from the chamber end. I should get it back in a day or so and get it fitted. Other work needed is to cut off the locking ring bracket and drill a hole for a gas tube to fit into, but I'll wait for those until I know for s
  10. Ah, I was thinking of these: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/bb-battery/batteries/lithium-batteries/hot-power-11-1v-1600mah-15c-lithium-battery-2pcs-stick-crane.html
  11. Crane LiPos? No, but you can fit the flat-cell types (either three or two-cell, so 11.1 or 7.4v)
  12. I appreciate it, but I'm going to work with what I've got. I've spent enough on upgrade parts alone as is!
  13. Unfortunately it's actually more expensive to have the extension made locally (that was my first thought)! I've got the Army SOPMOD clone, so I'm really not too worried about the upper - I can always buy another Army clone and part it out for spares and recoup most of the cost. Plus, with the extension the barrel profile will be all wrong, and that'll bug me on the inside. I've worked with this machine shop before, they generally charge only around $25 for work like this, but one of their guys is out so I don't know if they can accept the work this week.
  14. Why embark on this insanity? I want to fit a long barrel, and their isn't an existing 'new style' length of barrel that works for the build I have in mind. I'm looking to convert the M4 into a Mk12 Mod 0 SPR. I'm also planning to add a full stock (that's the easy part, LOL). Two options: 1) I'm looking at taking a dremel wheel to the inside of the upper receiver and roundly open it up little by little. 2) I'm also considering the option of turning down the existing barrel and miling out the lug, but this may not be necessary since the barrel has a flat bottom for the wiring to pass thro
  15. I'm about to modify the upper receiver to take a slightly shortened (to accommodate the hopup) standard Marui-spec barrel (pre-SOPMOD style). Has anyone else done this? Any tips?
  16. Just so Tw1tch is tracking - 'stolen' NVGs are certainly possible if built from spare parts. That being said, a set of NODs that 'is missing' will often cause operations to shut down and people to go into panic mode. Losing NODs or a radio downrange is a great way to end your career, so I'd say your sources are horribly misinformed or lying.
  17. Not true dude. Losing stuff is a great way to bring heat down. Personal purchase stuff, sure, but issued stuff? Not so much.
  18. I have honestly never seen an M16/M203 look like a kid's rifle until today.
  19. Our current issue M4s and M4A1s have Colt MFG marking, I haven't seen a "Colt Defense."
  20. Very much so. The kit is solidly built, for a garage gun. The only part that looks chintzy is the magazines, but despite their looks they feed and function just fine.
  21. I ended up getting it. There was a problem with customs but Atacka got them through without issue.
  22. Not Munich the movie, Munich the events in 1972.
