Stealthbomber
Another little thought just occured to me... To limit the possibility of people getting scammed AND to deter people from poor conduct during sales, how about setting things up so that people who're getting a slagging in the "problems with online sales" forums are stopped from starting threads in the sales forums? I'm sure serial scammers ARE already stopped from posting in the sales forums (and everywhere else, most likely) but I reckon a simple way to routinely vito access to the sales forums might give some people the kick in the *albatross* required to sort their sales out. Carrion
can we do somthing about the meddling fools in problems with sales? i dont mind people helping find info but there are a few who are getting stuck in with tiradews when in more than afew cases its not even in the same country
Stealthbomber
can we do somthing about the meddling fools in problems with sales? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes. You can report them.
superhobo
They don't count on this Forum either last I checked And I agree with ORH, The rep system is very effective if it is only restricted to good/bad transactions. Thats how Ebay operates. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well yes posts in the off topic section dont count but the main problem is people only posting things in the BST section in which the posts do count(look down my posts i have 60, but all of them have to do with BST) if their sole purpose is to scam people they wont even bother posting in the off topic section(where they dont count) and will only post in the BST section. Still their post count will go up making it seem like they are helpful and contributing to this forum. so the only way to stop this problem is either bring the rep system up(as said many times before) or make them have 50 posts to get a seller status(as said many times before) thats just my $0.
Yeager
How about we start banning people who say "I'll take it" only to back out at the last moment? This works well at several real steel forums I'm a member of, might be worth looking into..

This works well at several real steel forums I'm a member of, might be worth looking into.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, if a person backs out of more than one or 2 sales they will, hopefully, start to get reported in the "bad traders" thread and would then see their access to the sales forums limited until such time as they could convince a mod that they deserve it. That'd be my suggestion anyway. Hopefully it'd stop people running around the sales forums like excited puppies and offering to buy everything they see.
rhino
I've notified Arn about this as well. All i can do is wait till he comes online.
Flange!
Personally if I'm a seller, I want as many people as possible to see my ad - newbie or not. Hopefully, I would be able to weed out the losers through my interactions with them.
TheLair
I think that there are some great ideas here. I like the idea about 50 post count, but I would hope it to be a bit higher (100?) or at least a year being a member. Kinda like they do over at LF.net Im looking forward to the change, its a step in the right direction
Doncommie
Good idea but as a few people have said it seems to be having teething trouble at the moment. I personally can't see it but thankfully I have finished all my sales. Edited September 26, 2007 by Doncommie
rhino
Link to new ruling system Looks like Arn's got round to sorting this. Just finished announcing it.
Kraut
So that would explain why I can't access my sale topic anymore? Looks like I need to start spamming to up my post count (not)
rhino
Only just found out myself (gonna have to empty my PM box again... )
Romulus
I can't get in either (old time maths says that 215>100). I do have an active sale in there so this is a bit time sensitive matter for me. Hope to get this fixed ASAP
Arnie
You should get bumped up a status if you have a post count above 100 as soon as you post somewhere. I'll see if I can bump everyone up manually too.
Kraut
Yep, I can see it now. Thanks!
Fluffy_Bunny
What about doing it via join date too? I've been coming to Arnies' for a while and I don't post in other forums much because I tend to either search for topics and get my answers or just post in the BST forum. The 100 post thing is going to be a bit hard to reach and I think would make people spam more in order to quickly reach the required post mark. Edit: Hurrah! I hit 100 with this post! Rizla
hmm, i've been buying on here for months unfortunately i've done it via PM and not posts looks like i'll have to get my post count up then
Kraut
Is it common to lose the ability to edit your own sales topic after a few days?

I hit 100 with this post! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed. I, along with many other buyers and sellers I trust are not regular posters on arnies, but rather post to sell. I've had many many great deals go with people who have very few posts. I'm guessing the irony of the situation is, I just made regular member group with that post. Pablo
only 25 more posts to go now <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't spam, it'll only lead to suspension. Forgive me if I don't answer any questions straight away, I'm kind of inundated right now.
realityknight
Ugh, this is a pretty terrible idea. The main reason I had for coming here was to view the Sales Forums. So I could, you know, buy stuff (or sell it). 74 more posts to go, great. Edited September 26, 2007 by realityknight
slo_one
I guess with this new rule I will drop out as I don't like to post on forums. Enjoyed reading everything but the main reason was to search the classifieds. At least the wallet won't hurt as much.
