akiraspeedstar
Silicone spray has no place in Airsoft, use silicone oil or FrogLube.
DrAlexanderTobacco
Thanks for the quick reply - What's the difference between spray and oil?
TheFull9
Viscosity (potentially) and application method. Oil as in just a liquid in a little bottle, simple as that. Tends to be much thicker and stays where you put it more consistently. My gun however had plenty of lube inside when I got it a couple of months ago. That said, if you find it's gone black then the oil/grease has been contaminated with paint scraped off the inside of the upper, so take that gunk off and put on fresh lube. sacairsoftsn00py
How I run my KWA LM4C Ran 1000 grit through my BCG and the insides of my upper receiver...also tapered down edges of certain parts as I saw fit. Gun has roughly 2000 rounds through it.
John_234
I thought that silicon oil spray was perfectly fine for the O-rings and other rubber parts? Agreed on the cleaning though. Oil or spray, I clean the gun every outing to get more paint junk out of it. Edited March 1, 2013 by John_234
akiraspeedstar
Many silicone sprays will deteriorate rubber, even a few of the "plastic and rubber safe" sprays will melt it.

DrAlexanderTobacco
Thanks for the video! That's a perfect guide for me when my LM4 finally arrives.
John_234
Many silicone sprays will deteriorate rubber, even a few of the "plastic and rubber safe" sprays will melt it. Uh huh. And what's the reason for that?
akiraspeedstar
Many silicone sprays contain petroleum based ingredients. I've tried "Airsoft safe" silicone spray before and watched as an o-ring deteriorated. I also tried a "safe for rubber and plastics" spray an it also caused deterioration. Im not saying all are bad, but Id rather not take the chance for something that offers zero advantages over standard silicone in a bottle. Tarr
Owners of the LM4 in continental Europe, where are you getting these from? All I can find are magpul versions and I cant stand the looks of em. Any retailer tips please?

uscmCorps
Do people still modify the rocket valve by shaving the rear face of the cone to increase the FPS like the early days of trial and error? Or do people only stretch out the spring?
akiraspeedstar
I've seen either or Also...
TheFull9
Just saw this: http://www.wgcshop.com/wgc2008/main/product_detail1.php?search_From=searchItem&item=KM-SCM4HMTR&search=special&rs=ksc%20m4&catid=&cat= Will it do anything differently to the stock trigger?
akiraspeedstar
Looks exactly the same, though probably made of steel and $50 more than just buying the Guarder steel trigger ad steel firing pin. If you buy a steel trigger, polish the face/sear. It makes the action stupid smooth and allows the trigger to reset when partially pulled.
TheFull9
What's the stock trigger made of then? Aluminium?
akiraspeedstar
It's aluminum with a small steel piece at the tip, you could probably also just polish that piece as well, haven't tried with the OEM.
TheFull9
Ah yes, that jogs my memory. Wish WGC stocked the guarder parts to combine the shipping, by the sounds of it one of their triggers and a quick dremel job is in order.

akiraspeedstar
Just an FYI, Real steel Redi-mag fits fine with the magazine and the LM4 body.
uscmCorps
Excellent! I wonder how much clearance there is in the top? Like if someone used the skeletonized BFG Redi-Mod, would the top of the mag show?
akiraspeedstar
Probably will, top of the mag sits around the middle of the logo on the side, so it'll be right there around the top. Here's a pic of another guys setup (friend of Boobie) you can slightly see over the top. I don't get why people modded their redi-mags or bought the redi-mod, to my understanding you shave like 2oz or less, though I guess any weight shaved helps.
