Foxtrot
Does any one know the quality of these conversion kits? I might pick one up - as long as it's not like the DA Conversion.
shin_en
How reputable is Guns Work Shop? I emailed them asking to preorder it. They said that the kits will be sent out around christmas, but they are going to send me an invoice tomorrow.
Qhs
Does any one know the quality of these conversion kits? I might pick one up - as long as it's not like the DA Conversion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the quality is top notch. Their custom G36K has a Steel Barrel installed. From that, I make my assumption. shin_en
That's good that they use steel barrels, but does anyone know how well their polymer/molds are?

Born2BeMild
I own a G36c and it is the best darn gun in the world. If I put a kit like that on mine, I'd have to kick my own aarse! $248 dollars as well....you guys must have more money than sense and why, oh why would you want to put fake optics on your gun? What is the point????
Catchv22
I kind of agree with Born2BeMild. I love the looks of the XM8, but being a kit really is disappointing. I doubt any aftermarket accessories will come out for these kits as they will be very rare. Plus, the optics are not useable which kills one of the main aspects of having an XM8. snake_goth
why not put a cheap red dot where the fake site is... w8... dose the xm8 use a red dot?
Agent47
why not put a cheap red dot where the fake site is... w8... dose the xm8 use a red dot? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dunno if any red dot scope internals are able to fit inside it...unless you've got suggestions - or you could take a G&P G36E carryhandle and take the scope internals. Tripod
why not put a cheap red dot where the fake site is... w8... dose the xm8 use a red dot? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It has a built in IR illumintor and I think a red dot.
Catchv22
Has an option for a 4x sight instead of a red dot too. I'd prefer to see Marui or another manufacturer make them so more accessories would be available such as the aftermarket red dots and scopes.
michael_collins
Says on the newspage that theres a supply at AD but I thought they were getting auctioned.
eltee
So, has anyone gotten or seen one of the XM8 conversion kits yet? Here is a link to a US Army video of the XM8, showing some functions, etc. http://www.armytimes.com/story.php?s=1-292925-xm8.php
Agent47
GWS said they would release it lat december...and they haven't updated the page yet, so we'll see...
nikoneko
according to a post in militaryphotos.net, there's a story going around that HK decided to drop the XM8 project and sold or are in process of selling the manufacturing rights to this gun to some other company...how true this is i'm not 100% sure...but if it is, then making this replica would be just a replica of a prototype of a real gun...(with an HK logo)...also on the same forum, field testing of this gun did not have too much of a favorable results....(just reporting what I read...) Also if this gun ever gets into the official military inventory, I would think that the external looks would be somewhat different than it is right now, for instance, the "XM" designation would change and therefore would not be on the final gun....? Megalomaniac
nah, its allegedly: xm8 is for joe grunt fn scar is for special forces.. according to various articles. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats what I heard, the XM-8 is almost definitely being adopted by the USARMY; not the AF, Marines, or Navy and the SCAR is being looked at by all branches as a weapon to add to their Special Force's Armouries.
