-l-
Improvised Chest Rig First thing, this little mod is only meant for fun only, noting is being field tested so far. English is not my mother tongue, I do apologize for any grammatical mistake. It's not a ground breaking idea someone somewhere may already done this before, sorry to waste your time if you saw this already. About a week ago there is a discussion between me and one of my friends on why "Crotalus atrox" company can sell their pouches oversea but not there chest rig. During the discussion I come up with a statement saying that "chest rig= pouch + strap + buckle". Since I got time on my hand, I test out if my little equation actually works. Make your own Improvised Chest Rig The recipe: - one 5x40mm grenade pouch (or any mag/ammo pouch you desire) - one/two pack of eagle industries buckle replacement kit (available at Supreme co.) - Nylon strap (special thanks for bro4 providing this) All you need to do is just simply attach the buckles on the molle webbing at the back of the pouch and put the nylon strap through them, as shown in the photo below. I have seen some Brits PMC doing similar mod to their 3xM4mag pouch and turn it into a bandoleer. Some of you may wonder why I choose the 5x 40mm pouch for this, because you can actually fit 10 MP5 mag into it whatever direction you want to put them. Bungee loops can be attached to the pouch flap in order to provide extra secure point preventing mag or small item slip on form the side. Improving the improvised Chest Rig The chest rig can be expanded by stacking additional pouches together much like building Lego bricks. I extended it by adding a M60 ammo pouch to each end as shown below. In the following picture, you can see Tac talior's m4 shingel is used as a bridge to connect the 5x40mm pouch and M60 ammo pouch. Buckle can be attached to the molle webbing directly or via malice clip attached to the webbing. Now, this rig can carry ammo for MP5/M4/M60/flashbang etc. as shown below. Roecar
I agree, this could come in handy when you're already carrying way to much gear to a game. Those split buckles finally have a purpose and meaning to me
Communi
Looks pretty good for a DIY project!

Krait
That is sick man! My only suggestion would be to sew some padding along the top of the straps if your going to be carrying heavier loads

-l-
Or possibly widen the straps to distribute the load over a wider area. But a VERY impressive DIY... I have taken your idea so, here is the Improvised Chest Rig V1.5 The shoulder straps is changed to 2" wide, hydration carrier can also be attached.

infected
This is a great Idea. Here's a thought. I usually run as a rifleman most games, but I take my dmr often and will play with it if the game dictates a need for longer range. I find myself having to drop my chest rig (as it's setup with M4 mags), and just run with my drop leg holster with one spare mag in it, and my M14. Since I can't engage at distances shorter than 100 feet with my DMR, I could run out of pistol mags fast. Thought is that I'll pick up a 4 pistol mag panel from High Speed Gear, and make a small chest rig from it and put it up high (replacing the bib on my chest rig). The bib on my chest rig can be turned down and folded in. I'll put my chest rig on second. If I need to switch to my DMR role, I can still keep at least 4 spare pistol mags on me even though I've dropped my chest rig. Awesome (and cheap as I already have everything but the pouches. MagnumBB
What brand 40mm pouch is that? I've been looking for a larger setup w/o the TT 40mm belt.
Agent Hunk
Looks like Diamondback Tactical to me.
The Crunchy Bunny
I was looking on DIY tactical for the strapping, but I have no idea what kind to use. The numbers are all confusing (17337,43668,5038, tubular webbing etc.) What kind is the best for the straps?
JPU
That is truly amazing, I cant believe I havent heard of someone thinking of this earlier. Is that comfortable though? With those shingles against your body and all.
-l-
Looks like Diamondback Tactical to me. Yes, it's use to be $21 usd for 3 item on the mega sale couple of months ago so the 2 m60 and the 5x40mm is only $7usd each, pretty awesome deal, I would say. That is truly amazing, I cant believe I havent heard of someone thinking of this earlier. Is that comfortable though? With those shingles against your body and all. actually the singles do not post a ergonomic issue, however the little tap on the end of the malice clip is poking my tummy all the time. So, recently I swap them for a shorter version of malice clip and that solve the problem. I will upload a pic of that later. Great ide. Ime gonna use this. Hey, don't forget to post it up after you built yours. Thanks for the comments, and the cake I am glad that this inspire you. Oh, the shoulder straps can also be set up on this costly little *bramston pickle* to make it more useful for daily life [/url]
