Forum updates, feedback system and new versions

    By Arnie

Firstly I'm going to try to document forum updates and other work completed to the site here in my forum blog. This will keep all the forum related updates in one place.   I've completed several updates to the forums today. We're now running the latest IPS versions for Gallery and Blog. There should be several bug fixes and feature adjustments with these new versions; I don't get a list I'm afraid or I'd publish it.   I've also taken comments on the trading system on board and we now have a

Sorry state of GBB affairs

So the short term future for new GBB projects is looking awfully bleak. I would be excited about the new Marushin Bren Ten GBB, but since it will have the hated LD2 hop up, the thing is guaranteed to not shoot straight. I whipped out my P210 to give it a try with .34s and the stupid thing still shoots like a shotgun. I need to tear it down and remove the second hop up nub. See how that works out.   Funny enough, the black hawk shoots rather straight and nice. Maybe it is the fps that thi

Thought you'd heard the last of me, eh?

Good afternoon!!! Bloody hell, I'd kinda forgotten you guys existed. Nothing personal, I've just changed focus so much this year that I've not been airsofting more than 10 times, I don't think, and that included the utter debacle that was the ground zero weekender.   I got smashed beyond belief, caused a lot of trouble, and became, how shall we say, disenchanted with the whole affair. Nothing against the game just some of the players, and it was time to leave in general so I have, I did, and

Here I am again.

After sifting through reams of e-mails, spam and pages about 'increase your manhood' or 'watch people at it in public' i have managed to find time to add to this:   It seems not much has changed, I seem to be constantly quoting comedians 'famous lines' and work is once again as interesting as watching an soap opera (in case your wondering I detest soap operas).   The airsoft side of life is good, with only one AEG (TM P90) and one GBB (TM 1911) I have got all I need to play a skirmish (ma

Not at all airsoft related.

So my Sister gave birth to beautiful baby girl this morning at 5:40am. It has been a long time coming, but I am overjoyed that my Sister's family is growing. Now I just need to figure out how to make her a shooter....it is my purpose as her uncle.

Send in the CLONES

WHY do people insist on buying clone guns? If they're awesome internally, they're *suitcasey* externally, and never seem to work. If they're awesome externally, then they're *beep* on the internals. People need to get it through their skulls if they want a truly amazing bit of kit, they need to BUILD IT THEMSELVES. Then, if it doesn't work, the only person they can complain to are themselves, because they were stupid enough to think that they could do it on their own, instead of blaming the

Messing with my Tanaka

Tanaka revolvers are the king of fps, but man do they take work to get shooting correctly. All three of mine require me to add a lot of hop, and then raise the rear sight. Man I wish they would fire closer to the point of aim. One more reason I prefer GBBs, the Tanaka and Marushin hop ups are bunk. I actually care about accuracy now, and it is a bit depressing.   Almost completely fixed the irregular fps. Had to crank down hard on the trigger spring screw. Now it shoots consistently f

A few images of fellow Airsofters

I thought I would stick up some images of people I have had the pleasure and the pain of getting to know over the past few years.   First one has known me all my life ever since I was a twinkle in his eye this Dave and he is the oldman. Apparently I was an escapee from a johnny but I think he has come to the conclusion that there is no going back now I am in my late twenties.     Charlie AKA Guvnor. Image was at last years War & Peace show the merry go round was the only ride he w

Nothing to see here move along..

Hi my name is Liger and I am a Tacoholic. OK just thought I would stick up a few bits about my self. I will use this blog that ArniesAirsoft has kindly let us all have to post up various Airsoft & Gear related views and reviews as well as a diary of my thoughts.   See you on the Skirmish field. It has been a good two days.

It has been a great two days in terms of airsoft for me, both in terms of client work and with my own collection.   The final pieces arrive for a client's gun. Got to button down the hatches and finish the build. With some light tuning and my current favorite internal bits, the gun has really come around. It is nice to find that what I think to be true, continues to be the right choices. I like certain companies for certain parts. PDI for barrels (but DB Customs might be a better option

First post!

Oh boy! New blog! I never keep up with these things so lets see how long it lasts...   So, I bought my roommate's gun Sunday. Well, sort of. I said I'd pay him and he just handed it to me, so it's all good. Anyway, I've got here a TM SIG 552. It's been upgraded to shoot ~380, as a metal body (albiet with a crack just above the ejection port. Nothing a little JB can't handle). He kept the RDS that was on it, but I've got one on it's way. This this is so accurate and long-range that I actually

Huzzah it works, through the magic of technology i can speak to you all, and tell you of my efforts.   Firstly the bragging rights:   First skirmish and first game at Ultimate in Thornbury, i am not only last man alive but i also defied all human common sense by firing at a group trying to 'bang' kill me, it got me the last kill of my team and even a cheer of bravery from a nearby group of on-lookers (the guys trying to flank me).   Second, well thats about it, with 10 kills to 4 deaths

Finished up a clients gun tonight. Den order showed up, a little for me and the last few parts to finish up the Evike 1911. I personally have never had a problem ordering from Evike, but man their technical services are bottom of the barrel right now. I can't imagine that they have looked at this gun three time now, and it still shot like sheit when it came to me. Be careful who you have work on your gun. If it had been my gun I would have raised hell. Now it shoots pretty good. Not as go

wtf

So I get home, and I'm tired as hell. Then I realize, "Wait, I think I left my gas in the car." Then I remember I loaned it to a kid, and grabbed another can.   Also, visiting old workplaces is fun. Making friends/former coworkers feel uncomfortable because I'm casually chatting with someone who always seems mad is awesome.   Oh, and I hate kids.

Formula 1 & Guns?

First off what a great day to be a Tifosi. Much congratulations to Kimi Raikonnen and the Scuderia. Hopefully the Williams and BMWs won't be excluded there by handing the title to McLaren. We shall see how it all shakes out in the end, but next year should be amazing. I wonder where Alonso is going to land. If he asks to be released I wonder if McLaren will actually let him race for another team next year. There should be some good off-season news this year.   In airsoft news, I must

So to start off this blog of uselessness, I've bought a Tanio Koba USP .40 with four magazines off a friend for $150. mojo has told me that I can only use 134a in it, so naturally I've used Green. Has VERY good kick, and I now have a use for that G&G SS100 suppressor I bought off n00bTard. With the suppressor, it's actually pretty quiet. Not as quiet as the P99, but still really soft.   If anyone wants to make an offer on one of my guns, go ahead and do so. If the price is right, I'l

The VCRA, and the havoc it causes...

Well I suppose this would be a fine way to start my Arnies Airsoft blog after having the privilege handed to me on a plate!   I'm going to start with the VCRA, which has probably been covered so many times it has become a mountain, but I hope to look at it from a different veiw to most, the view of an Under 18 Airsofter.   I first started airsofting around a year ago, and have managed to get a small local following, but the VCRA now stands in the way. I live on Orkney, in the Northern Isle

Ruminations on fees

So I have been trying to pick up some side work, building GBBs for people I have met on the forums. It has been really exciting to be recognized for the work I have done on my own guns, as well as the way I comport myself on the forums, but now I am running into the problem of how and what to charge for work.   I keep getting asked to do work on budgets that don't allow the client to actually receive a gun I would be proud to deliver to them, and which allows me very little room for any prof

TM 1911a1 problems

Well yesterday i got a TM1911 being my usaual curious self i wanted to know how it worked so i opened up the frame and part GM1-46 fell out after an hour of figuring out where that part went in i finially got it in. Then not learning my lesson i opened up the slide. After takeing out the outer barrel and recoil springs out i desided to remove the blowback unit. First i unscrewed the back of it then i proceeded to prying it out, then some how a spring (GM1-15) got cuaght on the rear sight, the s

So. This 'work' thing... and problems with sales online.

Bit odd, isn't it? I mean, here I am, sat at a computer, doing pretty much what I would be doing if I [wasn't/i] at work, but I'm getting paid to do this...   great!   onlly problem is, doing an apprenticeship, i get paid around half the national minimum wage, which to be hoenst, i'm not entirely sure is legal... could anyone advise me about that?     Meh, i get paid, more than i can say for university.     Anyway, to 'problems with sales online'. As some of you might know, i've cu

The start of it all?

Never blogged before, but it is nice to have a place to log the work I am doing on my own guns as well as some client projects.   Right now in the works is finishing my TM Hi Capa 6.0. I just need to finalize my hammer choice and it will be completed. Swapped to a 6.01mm PDI tight bore and saw a jump of 15 fps on average, with less variation between shots. I still believe the tighter the barrel, the better the power, accuracy and it really helps stabilizes fps fluctuations. I have also fo
