  1. Have had an odd fascination with the few plastic akm-style magazine options that came out nearly a decade ago, such as the Guarder shells, the Cyma ribbed ones (which iirc are based off the Polish and Bulgarian patterns but there exist Russian examples) and the MAG brand ones that seem to be not carried anymore by anyone here in the US.  Was wondering if anyone actually likes running the latter two with their 7.62 kalash options.  I confess I have thought about getting a black cyma one for my soon to be unwrapped cyma ak100 series carbine.

  2. For anyone who can decipher this horrible shop's website listings, is this a rebranded cyma 40b vfc style ak105, or one of the tm models and they just cannot put correct picture up?  For some odd reason they have this cheaper than the cyma 40b reband by itself, which has me immediately suspicious.  If it is the vfc style, it kinda beats out the non rebrand offers elsewhere and I might be tempted to jump on it.  http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/21465-cyma-airsoft-ak-105-aeg-full-metal-side-folding-stock-black.aspx

Oddly enough, this place has 100 series front ends for sale, but for some reason they decide their "free" shipping does not apply to them.

I am inclined to believe the former on the basis that the item code for the rifle in their shopping cart menu is LT-740D which corresponds with lancer's rebrand of the cm40 models iirc.

NVM, their site will not even let me go to checkout because something is out of stock despite showing everything in stock.

  3. So, it is only just now that I have heard of ICS making a Makarov.  Apparently first shown back in 2016, has anyone heard more about it?

Probably canned after seeing low sales of the WE, KSC, and KWC models combined despite years of people begging for one.

It almost feels like the KWA length of tease since I just saw an image of the ics model in one of HyperDouraku's MOA posts.

You're right, but not to be a Debbie Downer, it says it's an NBB.

  4. Does anyone know of a shop that sells 9.6v nimh sticks that have deans already attached?  I'm keen on picking up one or two full wiring harness sets with deans to replace some of my old kalashes wiring and I'd like to just get some nimhs with deans already so I don't have to fuss (I know I'm too daft to solder anything myself/too old fashioned to dip into lipos as well).

zeroone do custom batteries - always have had a decent service with them.

  5. Bit of a longshot, but does anyone have any info about this custom AK-9 model done years ago?  th_ak9_03.jpg  The group that did it either has no facebook page that is public (not requiring a log in) or is just gone completely.  I theorize they either took a 100 series receiver or possible one of those 74u ones that came with a full folding stock and fabricated the pistol grip, mag, and possibly front sight/barrel threads.  The lower hand guard must be the lct one produced as "AK-9 style).  Not going to lie, I kinda like it more than the VSS/VAL style of 9x39.

short of the pages on Public Enemy (http://www.publicenemy.com.hk/?p=5806&lang=en) I can't find out much more. PE seemd to be stringly linked to them and posted all their kit for sale as far as I can see.

      Gunmane

Thank you for your effort Arnie.  I tried searching through that site's youtube page hoping that maybe they showed it off at one point but no dice.  A few folks over on Red Alliance supposedly made their own years ago as well, but all the pictures are gone for the most part.

Just one of those things you get curious about and wonder why companies like LCT (who had a prototype one) ignored it.

Of course, I'd quickly ignore it if a SG542 got made somehow, but that is an even more far fetched dream.

  6. Had a thought earlier today:  Why has TM not looked at releasing an updated version of their sig 552?  It seems like one of the models they would have considered for either the "High Cycle" or "Next Gen EBB" systems.  I still see them from time to time in vids from over there and think there must still exist some interest in them.

    1. renegadecow

      renegadecow

For a while TM focused on MARSOC and now they've undoubtedly poured a lot of resources on the new Type 89 GBBR. I doubt they'll do anything Sig 55X related in the near future as it will be eclipsed by hype for GHK's 553.

  7. So, from le old google translate on TM's website, it seems they are making their 74mn model again.  I assume this is not an updated version right?  I remember awhile back hearing talk about how their ak next gen series did not sell as hoped but they were considering in the future relaunching the line.

  8. Apparently this is now a thing.  https://www.evike.com/products/85810/

Makes me wonder how much of it was gutted internally from the acm ZB26s floating around.

    Still no DPM though...

  9. Was wondering if anyone knew why Mach Sakai is doing review videos of guns he's already done before in the past lately, like for example the S&T Type 64. I saw it pop up in my feed today and figured maybe it was getting an update or something.

    1. renegadecow

      renegadecow

Because more views more cash. Also he may have upgraded video equipment + review style/content to warrant a rehash.

Figured so. Just didn't help with bringing back my Battle Rifle urges.

  10. So, did the pkp kits for A&K pkm fly under the radar or did I miss out more news than I thought? I figured LCT had beaten them to the punch.

  11. So, whilst watching some silly airsoft vids from Japan, I noticed that the bolt action rifles being shown were being loaded from what seemed like a trap door reservoir, with possibly a high cap wheel. It looked like a type 99 based on what appeared to be a dustcover. Makes me wonder if it was a custom build or something?

    1. Hopna

      Hopna

I believe they do have a type 99, including a dustcover. I've never seen one though :(

    2. Gunmane

      Gunmane

Yeah, it is a KTW then. Just saw a shop image gallery and it matches. Kinda makes me wonder why other companies haven't tried that feeding design, must be something weak about it.

    3. Hopna

      Hopna

I've owned a PPS M40 which uses a similar feeding system. That system was the reason I sold it. It was very prone to jamming and loading it took way too long. Magazines work much better, which is probably why most companies use them.

  12. Is it time to start building our stiff upper lip kits?

sigh, I figured as such. Knowing our luck, the first dpm any company makes will be the same.

  13. Got a mate asking me about JG G36k model as a starter. Someone offering it at 100 dollars, changed the hop up, and seems okay, but I am trying to find the old reviews and whatnot and am having difficulties trying to offer advice to him.

    1. hitmanNo2

      hitmanNo2

JG G36s are solid guns. Pretty common hire gun over here. Very reliable.

    2. Gunmane

      Gunmane

that's what I gathered. I just had several hours of discussion with him about general terms and whatnot and in the end said for him to think about his options.

hopup units are usually *suitcase*, but get a new rubber - else the internals are pretty solid, in my experience.

  14. A question to our folks in Japan: Been going through some older videos from a youtube channel and have repeatedly seen the use of what seems to be a manual clicker whenever players go back to their respawn. I assume this is to help refs keep track of how many respawns have happened or something to that effect? I could see it used locally so that game hosts could tell when one side is completely out of the fight.

  15. So, I've figured that the problem with one of the gearbox that was in my main kalash (a stock one I haven't taken apart) is that it has been locking up with the anti reversal latch. My 9.6v nimhs still have quite some charge left on them, but every time I try to test said gearbox after releasing the jam, it locks back up. Going to charge one of nimhs up to full to see if it really just need more juice, but I fear something else is going on.

    1. Gunmane

      Gunmane

Yep, charged battery did the trick after the unlock. Now to figure if I want to rebuild the other gearbox...

  16. Bit of a longshot but might as well ask: Does anyone with smersh rpk pouches have the means to see if a bizon magazine would fit in them? I know the various m32 model vests and the splav m23 could fit them, but wondered if the smersh rpk pouches might work.

  17. Thanks Tink, I'm an emotional bag of spaghetti right now. Never *fruitcage* with the Irish, and *fruitcage* the UN.

  18. I am not going to be present at the Shot Show this year (almost was), but was wondering if we should start up a thread in general discussion for folks who do go to post? Also, a challenge for anyone going to find a Swiss SG 751 rifle. I doubt it would be shown since they don't plan to produce them for the US market. Basically the big brother of the 550 series.

  19. http://www.evike.com/products/68297/ "Built around the traditionally durable version 2 gearbox, the XR-5s relation to the M4 ends there." "The fire controls are similar to the favored M4 rifle." At least try to use something other than a m4 next time please.

What's so bad about magazine and internal parts compatibility with by far the most common platform out there? It looks basically nothing like an AR on the outside.

  20. Ever want to get something that is clearly made poorly, would be way overpriced, and does not fit with any of your kit at all? I have that problem every single day...

  21. So, apparently Dragunov's weapon designs are coming out from the Soviet archives and given new life. I wonder which Modern Military shooter will mess them up first...

    1. Gunmane

      Gunmane

the ak-400 series use dragunov system, and the rpk-16 and new compact rifle in that link are from that development.

    2. Gunmane

      Gunmane

It is not fully clear however if the ak-12 will use dragunov system or will end up just being a remade ak74 (images in articles are often just upgrade kits produced for parade shows/testing).
