  1. You can put any gas in a can and call it green gas, so in that sense, yes, you could have a 'more powerful' green gas. However, the underlying rule is that you cannot change chemistry just to suit airsoft. That doesn't change the fact that there is a lot of chemistry out there which could be used as airsoft propellant; what we get is the best compromise between vapour pressure (higher being better), boiling point (lower being better), expansion ratio (higher being better), availability (the greater the better), regulation (the less the better), and cost (the lower the better). Propane, with a
  2. BBB, where would be the best place to source a set of those old-school grips?
  3. Ah, and they've already sold out of the ones I wanted... Judging by the presentation boxes, I'd say it looks like these, the full-size SVI they're doing and the Inokatsu P229 all came out of the same factory.
  4. Woah! Where did you get that? How is it to shoot?
  5. I've shot the HERA, and it's very good and (from what I understand) relatively easy to work on. Bear in mind that if you fit a select-fire GLOCK you will need to modify either or both to fit the gun and to alter the selector's position once the kit is together.
  6. Very nice! How does it shoot with the Osprey?
  7. TKO lists the completely built-up stock recoil weight (including the guide rod) at 293g, and the fully built-up SURUS (likewise) at 410g, so the SURUS and the custom weight I got from Mr. Currie are pretty close in weight. They're about 135% of the original's weight, which is a substantial bump in mass.
  8. Urgh, that's beautiful. Debating doing the same to my '09, or selling the '09, keeping all the RS parts and putting them on a 2014 ViperTech.
  9. The above project needs to be carefully documented for later awesomeness.
  10. Like I said, not all things are equal. Airsoft guns that shoot CO2 tend to have very strong springs and the like, which lessens their gas efficiency. Airsoft guns that shoot CO2 also tend to experience a power bump when doing so, which means they're not equivalent to the propane-powered shots any more. Some gases (although I don't know specifics for CO2 or propane) might suffer from adiabatic cooling more severely than others (causing a more severe or more sustained drop in pressure) which would also affect the amount of gas that escaped. There's a lot of variables that affect how many shots y
  11. I don't think your empirical research is correct... Consider propane (~140psi at 25°C) and CO2 (~900psi at 25°C). Expansion ratios govern how much gas the liquid you're able to force into the reservoir will expand into. More gas obviously equals more shots. Propane has an expansion ratio of 1:270 (that is, 1cm3 of liquid propane = 270cm3 of gaseous propane), whereas CO2 has an expansion ratio of 1:450 (that is, 1cm3 of liquid CO2 = 450cm3 of gaseous CO2). Therefore, you could squeeze substantially (66% more) CO2 than propane into equal reservoirs, which should translate (all other things being
  12. Propane has an expansion ratio of 1:270. I'm not sure what the expansion ratio for 1,1,1,2 tetrafluoroethane is; I don't know what actual chemical composition of '144a' is either unfortunately.
  13. The hard recoil spring isn't intended to make the recoil feel heavier; it's intended to help the recoil system keep up with a gun that's cycling faster than the original specification (e.g., if you're running higher-voltage batteries, have a different gearset and/or motor, etc.). RichardY of Eagle6's opinion is that his spring is tougher. The SURUS isn't going to come back into stock, I don't think. I e-mailed them for about 8-10 months trying to get a restock date; they told me that their CNC facility was moving and to expect it back in stock in three months; that was about a year ago and
  14. Yeah, I'm putting a new inner barrel and the Firefly hop-up nub on the list. Trying to decide between a tightbore and a widebore; guess we'll see what Aod recommends! You'll have to tell our mutual friend that the recoil is so fierce it's causing the gearbox screws to back out and the recoil weight to unscrew... Loctite ahoy!
  15. I hope not - I won't be able to use it anywhere if it is! Everyone knows living on baked beans to feed your Echigoya habit is the best way to impress people over the internet.
  16. Mine's gone to my personal Lucius Fox, Aod, for installation into what I'm confident in saying is probably the most highly upgraded Recoil Shock anywhere in the world. I daresay he'll let us all know how he gets on...
  17. Some MOSFETs have this feature. You will need one with an adjustable delay setting, as most only delay about one second (three seconds is a long time between shots); for example, the BTC Spectre NexGen (the only MOSFET made specifically to fit the NexGen system) has eight delay modes but a maximum delay of just 70ms...
  18. Keep your chin up, NonEx. Keep at them; it's legal, so don't let them push you around. Call every day, they'll take the hint eventually.
  19. Oh God - forced to choose between a RS SVD and Aitch's NOVA SFA Operator LDC...

      Aod

Personal preference would be that SFA Operator LDC... *sploosh*

I've got the SVD and I'm sure you will never regret buying one. It's just so well made, so buy it. You know you can't resist.

  20. Interesting - let us know what it weighs when it's all together?
  21. That's the problem with drilling holes in your very expensive new gun - sometimes someone comes along with a solution that might have obviated the need to do so...
