dapprman
Great thread and much kudos to the OP. Is there any chance one of the HK people on this forum could post a consolidated list of where is worth going to ? I'm over in April next year and hoping to go shopping, partly hoping to pick up some old models that are hard to get in the UK. I do remember in the past walking up Dundas Street and window shopping - my first and third time in HK I stayed at the Hotel Metropark (sure it was the Mercure or Metropole when I stayed there both times) at the top of Waterloo Rd and mainly walked to MK or YMT stations

dapprman
What do you mean by "worth going to"? anything specific besides vintage models? More which shops tend to give the best balance of good deals v good stock. I'll be a bit like a young boy in a sweet shop I'm suspecting anything I buy may well be on semi-impulse
The Insider
FYI.. the OP map is a little out of date.... as several shops seem to open, close, change location every few months.so updates to the map every few months would be nice, but not achievable in this forum.but everything is still... generally in the same location. Although some other random and irreverent insider intel... seems there is a small push for shops to move away from kwong Wa St (gun st, hereby know as KWS) due to continued increases in rent.Gun heaven (a chain store with 3 shops, one in Taiwan) moved one of its shops from KWS to across the road from Ehoby this week.Which is 4 suburbs away from KWSView from ehoby mall doorway.Rent for this new shop is HK$19000 a month, and you just can't get that on KWS now... even for a little shoebox shop.And... after CNY Cop9 is moving across the mall from ehoby, with there doors about 10m apart. lol.QRF a high end brand shop, and another shop are also due to move from and to the same location.Although this will only be half a dozen shops in this new area so far... and there is still 20+ on KWS, but if the trend continues the new KWS could be... Fuk Wa St... or Fuk Wing st.... or anything in-between.Also its been speculated that the constant rent increase is to push the airsofters out.... but its probably not so.You just got to look at mongkok on a friday, sat, sunday and then understand the high foot traffic equals higher rent.Mong kok is... well think of attending a concert and sports event... and 10mins after the event... you can have 80,000 ppls on the st.... and thats whats Mongkok is like. So the surrounding areas like KWS will suffer increased rents, as MK throng of shoppers continue to grow. And Airsoft shops on kws are and will continue to be converted into fashion, gold, watch shops, and restaurants. So will be interesting how this develops. Lsdgenie
^ I was in the former crown colony just after the new year (January 2) after not visiting HK for over 3 years and was surprised how many airsoft shops in the Kwong Wah area had disappeared (most notably, CA). Had me worried that Airsoft as a hobby was declining... Had fun at E-Hobby though (first time to go to their superstore), and glad to see more Airsoft shops (from Kwong Wah) are opening near it (I remember stepping out and smoking next to that orange rubbish bin hehehe) - if you've ever gone to the area, E-Hobby is practically the only reason for a tourist to drop by that area....no other shops worth browsing or going through.... allizard
Little bit off topic, but If you are into collecting toys like anime figurines and action figures Fuk Wa St and Fuk Wing St have a few shops there as well.

Actually CA is still alive and well, they just relocated from inside the alley to opposite the Post Office, which is a 100m walk
dapprman
7 weeks till I'm over there - I better get a shopping list sorted out. BTW I heard that there are shops with decent second hand bins or specialising in 2nd hand RIFs. Anyone know which ones ? (at present my list includes a Xcortech 3200 chrono, Magpul FPG magazine base plates, looking at the Sterling, and possibly a FN 1910 if I can find a working one)

I've never seen the chrono's or base plates for sale second hand. I also have no idea if they have the guns you're looking.
dapprman
Cheers for that. BTW not expecting to get a second chrono or base plates. On the former, with the likes of EBairsoft selling the Xcortech 3200 for KH$580 with free postage world wide (or to the UK at least) I would hope to be able to pick one up more cheaply when local As to the base plates - they're becoming rather rare and the only UK retailer I could find selling them was over-charging. dapprman
I've pinged EBairsoft through their online form - will post here if they still have a shop. If not I might have to ask any HK resident who's going shopping anyhow if any where else sells the Xcortech 3200 chrono for less than HK$579.87 else I'll order online. (please no one just go out to ask/look for me, it's not that important)

dapprman
yup - hence no urgency for price comparisons Will ping again about a week before I fly out to see where's best to look (area wise). have previously stayed near Mong Kok triangle, making that area an easy reach, but I'm near the Star Ferry terminal in TST this time. onizuka-gto
I've found that airsoft shops are gradually moving to Lai Chi Kok industrial office area, since EhobbyAsia opened a very big Retail shop in one of the plaza there, some have decided to open nearby. Redwolf is also just round the corner, but they don't have a licence to open a retail side so if you want to see their showroom, you can only view it via appointment. frogfish
Bunny Airsoft is also out and away I think it is in Kwun Tong, probably one of the most impressive shops I went to next to RW and EHA.
dapprman
This time next week I'll be in the air on my way over, so ... do any shops have better reputations for KWA spares (I need to try and find a new version of the Glock 18c/Magpul FPG nozzle and some magazine base plates) TM/Garder Parts (half need some G3 stock pins) and more importantly ... GHK merchandise (if I can get a really good deal I might get a G5, carbine kit, plus 4-6 mags)
dapprman
Here's an interesting question for teh HK people here - are the airsoft shops likely to be open over the Easter weekend ? (guess when I'm there ...)
