vorpalbunnie
Hi! First person to buy it from Echigoya and I've been loving it for the last 30 hours. I'll embed my pics when I'm home along with a better write up. For now here is the imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/Bq3GO Videos later too
vorpalbunnie
Test videos: Very basic videos to show function, sorry for the quality. I'm quite tired and my Tokyo apartment is not a great stage for cinematography. Basic firing test: Https://youtu.be/FtuLWud2Fek You can see the sling mount shake as it fires. Low battery light (gun stopped firing automatically): https://youtu.be/ZCL3mY_Z5LE Dry fire full auto audio: https://youtu.be/sz6gLFOKlNE
vorpalbunnie
Quick and dirty review: I've been a huge fan of the AA12 since I saw it on Future Weapons way back when. It's a big bulky futuristic whale gun and it's also a shotgun, basically perfect for me. Naturally I reserved one with three magazines, and arrived 10 minutes before opening to guarantee I'd get it first. And the Marui one is great. ESPECIALLY for the relatively low asking price of ¥40,000 (~$350 usd). The body is a lightly textured ABS plastic similar to the Mp7 GBB but smoother (except for the aggressive mag and grip patterns). All silver bits are aluminum, and seem high enough quality. The gun is not a plastic fantastic creaky death machine like the FAMAS, but it shares 3 things in common with it: 1. By the nature of the AA12 it feels hollow, namely the hand guard. The stock is definitely weighty. 2. The gun shakes when firing because of the mechanism. 3 Pistons slamming back and forth create a fun little impulse. 3. Pretty revolutionary. A tri shot AEG. However I wouldn't expect more any time soon, as you can see in my picture of the battery compartment the gearbox is colossal. The AA12 is a perfect body for the mechanism. That said, TM may adopt the reliable rapid feed mechanism into their gas shotgun line. That's my hope at least. The sights are silly. Charging handle is NOT spring loaded, which is good for adjusting all THREEEE hopups but pushing it forward with your hand afterwards feels wrong. Some Japanese people are justifying it by saying that the real AA12 is open bolt. I am incredibly satisfied with this purchase and even sold my TM 870 later that day. I can't wait to bring it back to America. If you have any questions I'll gladly answer them.
DarkLite
Are the barrels aluminium? It seems it from the picture of the muzzle you posted. Can you provide a scan of the manual page with the exploded part view?

Zereck
FPS seems to be at 250-260 on some of the videos, which is lower than usual, but it's probably due to the longer spring/weak motor combo. There is a short video about the range: Seems it can shoot about 50m but the spread gets really big at that range. Which is fine, it is a shotgun.
Typewriter
That looks and sounds awesome. Really loud and looks like it shakes when fired. Really really want one (when they get here in Finland).

blobface
What kind of batteries did you test it with? Wondering if their "smart" FET business will effect the usage of non nihm batteries that the Japanese still seem to love so much.
vorpalbunnie
The barrels are brass. I'm using a 7.4v LiPo in my videos, which functioned fine with the FET auto stop system. I would not recommend an 11.1v as the FETs are likely to prevent this gun from tearing itself apart. Manual picture: http://imgur.com/mZk9zrQ
DarkLite
Thanks mate.AEG barrels and hop-up rubbers, it looks like. So flat-hopping/R-hopping etc will still work. I really want to see what that gearbox looks like inside, though it's interesting that the gear-train appears to be held in a removeable sub-assembly that lifts out of the top.Looks like I'll need to sell a kidney for this. :C Edited January 18, 2016 by DarkLite

I might have to be the first (Assuming not everything is proprietary)
DarkLite
I doubt you'll get a high RoF out of this, the piston stroke looks extremely long. I quite like the chug-chug-chug to be honest.

bankz5152
Honestly is the first AEG in 6 years or so that I have been actually interested in to the point where I *may* buy one. Could be a nice winter gun
blobface
Could be a nice winter gun Tell that to the person you shoot with this gun, on the knuckle, during winter....
DarkLite
Tell that to the person you shoot with this gun, on the knuckle, during winter.... Seriously, if you cannot stand being shot by a 250fps bb, then perhaps you should take up a sport which is a little lower impact? I hear competetitive knitting is pretty popular these days. Or maybe extreme stamp collecting.
blobface
Pretty sure I was joking, but okay.
DarkLite
D'oh, I should have seen that by the way you didn't say anything funny or subversive, silly me! Seriously though, nice save. With such a quick rate of recovery, I'm sure you can take a 250fps bb to the knuckle just fine!
blobface
Jesus... I really don't think any of that is called for. I have been playing airsoft for over 15 years, I really don't feel like I need to prove that I understand being hit is part of the game. I would like to apologies for my badly phrased joke, it's simply the same as "wow nice gun, I would not like to be on the receiving end" type of comment, if it means you'll forever think I, some randomer on the internet, cannot tolerate being hit by airsoft BBs, that's okay by me, but could we just end it at that? I really don't feel that any of that was necessary.
DarkLite
That's the thing though, it wasn't a badly phrased joke. It wasn't even a joke. What you wrote, in a text based medium, was an implied complaint that using the AA-12 in winter would be injurous or unpleasant for someone else to get shot with, presumably because of the 3 bbs at once deal. If you'd meant to say "wow nice gun, I would not like to be on the receiving end" then you could have said so. In any case, I'm leaving it here. On topic:I'd imagine installing a trioka of 6.01mm barrels should bump this to closer to 300 wihtout putting extra strain on the internals. Might make it less accurate, but it is a shotgun... blobface
Okay, I'm sorry what I wrote wasn't easily understand, but to prove that I have no issue with this gun, I've defended it on the news thread saying that this is no worse than any normal AEG with high rof, I've even bought one from Echigoya which is on its way. "This would make a nice winter gun" "Yeah tell that you the person you shoot at" "lol yeah won't be a nice winter gun for them" That's meant to be it, I'm sorry it bothered you, but perhaps if you weren't sure you could have just said "why? Do you think this gun is too much?" instead of looking up meme images of a weeping character and telling me to change hobby and take up knitting (which by the way, a very useful skill, I wish I could knit). DarkLite
Fairy Muff. I'm just annoyed at the sudden rush of people declaring that this AEG is going to be an overpowered communazi spambrick of death which will literally invite ISIS rapist refugees into your home and post child porn on your facebook account should you try to use it in CQB.I do think it'll be a game changer once that drum mag comes out, because it will become an excellent area denial weapon with that large spread and the ability to put down sustained fire in a large area. I can't wait to get my UKARA sorted.

bankz5152
Jeeeez. Recently I have noticed everyone seems to be a lot more uptight than they where a few years back! Couple years ago that would have easily been seen as a joke and continued in a light hearted way. What happened? Especially since almost everyone on this thread are old members. Chill! Jan is *suitcase*, dont take it out on each other! on my phone, my spelling will suck
