keep posting, please. This is very interesting. :) You guys seem to know/read/copy-and-paste more about my place than I do!!!

And am I right in assuming that everyone here knows that:

1. Guarder/Intruder Shop is Taiwanese and not Chinese?

2. And that the Chinese don't have a major Airsoft manufacturer? And most things come out of china and are of low quality, low price, high quanitity and most people buys them?

3. And am I right in assuming that some of you are seriously bothered simply by what a gun looks like? And that you actually spend the time to whinge?

Lived in China for a year. Got SO f*cking sick of the utterly sh1te standard of most things there. Buy a spanner. It breaks when you try to use it. Buy another one.

So, you try to buy a Snap-On spanner. you can't. Nobody imports them cos they're too expensive.

ARGHHHHHHH!

Seriously, I dunno why anybody's worried about the Chinese becoming a super-power. I'd bet my life that half the guns and bombs of the Chinese army won't actually work.

closest youve got is classic army [yik fung iirc] which i think are in HK anyway. cba to check atm

i think so. i mean i dont - well not too much anyway - but others do. the thing about airsoft is that..we play with toys that *look* like guns - so.. its all about 'looks' isnt it?

[well no, it s agame, but a large amount of people play airsoft because of what the stuff looks like - i know i do - if i didnt i could just go play painball with a plumbers plunger-thing..in bright yellow and pink coveralls..]

:D

not strictly true- yes, HK, Taiwanese and chinese are technically all "chinese" in ethnic origin, but Taiwan is a ferociously independent island which China has precious little say over- it broke off following the Communist takeover. The nationalists fled to Taiwan and have maintained not only its independence, but the belief, rightly or wrongly, that actually THEY are the true legal government of China.

HK is still very different in feel to China, although it is now "controlled" by China- I think China's Government realised they'd have a disaster on their hands if they simply imposed all their laws onto HK straight away, and so have sensibly gone for a more softly softly approach, hence airsoft being legal in HK, but not really in China- remember, however, that airsoft isn't illegal, but they have extremely strict legislation regarding power levels- all thouse el cheapo nasty springers that turn up at markets are of chinese origin, iirc.

It is, airsoft is extremely illegal on the mainland of China.

Taiwan and HK are really the only places that airsoft stuff is made and used around there.

I think theres a reason for that, if you wanna shoot a gun they conscript you and put one in your hand anyways, better than airsoft methinks ;)

Boy this thread has wondered a bit from it's origins. So I think i'll go off on another tangent.

Anybody know why the item below the Type 56's on Guarders website shpws a Mini Uzi in the background. I know KWC supposed to have one coming out, but it'l probably be ######. Is their another version coming, any body know?

Sorry about that hijack, you can get back to the HK debate know.

NK weapons arent that *beep* - they provided missile tech to Egypt and Pakistan.. must count for something [and lets not get into lame pissing contests.. no political or country bashing please..]

We aren't talking about missle systems, we are talking about small arms. Besides, don't the NKs use cheap Ak clones too?

  • 1 year later...

I think the PLA vs US army debates will just never end.

But I know even the Leaders in the Chinese military recognises it still has a few years to catch up on the logistics and C4I technologies that NATO has.

I think that, from recent Chinese arms fairs, the quality of Chinese arms has been improving. After all, China exports to all over the world, if they are not reliable who else would buy them?

Last I heard in 2003, the QBZ 95 is only restricted to specialist troops because of maintenance and deployment issues, as well as technical problems. The Type 81 is still the main rifle of the PLA.

But yeah I am sure the QBZ 95/99 would make a good airsoft gun for collecting. Hoping Marui makes something soon.
