blazed99
I am pretty new to AK's and i know this is a clone of the VFC, but does anyone know if this from RSOV A.C.M. PBS4 silencer for AK (steel) with fit the Kalash?
Blink43va
PART 1  As promised...  D-Boys AKS74U Internals Review!   Gearbox shell:  Wierdly painted... alot of overspray inside the interior of the gearbox itself! Wiring unit and wiring seem of decent quality! Sorry for the bad pictures.. not the best camera or lighting!   No casting marks I found, a few scratches here and there were evident from bad shimming... Overall I'd give the shell itself a 7.5/10  Next up:   Piston and piston head... Piston head seemed fine... though it looked like they "missed" on mine, and it has an extra hole... gives it some character! Piston itself seemed of pretty good quality... we will see how long it lasts on my high speed setup! Not much to say other than it was pretty good. 9/10 (-1 because of extra hole in piston head).  Spring Guide...   Pretty solid doesn't seem to be SUPER tough, though the metal backpiece was loose so I had to tighten it up!  8/10  Cylinder Head and Cylinder  The Cylinder seemed to be quite brittle, but I heard and felt no leaks when doing the piston compression test! Rubber damper on the bottom was SUPER dry and brittle, so I added some 50 weight silicone oil and let it soak up some lubricating goodness!  Cylinder was fine... not much to say about it, does its job!  Cylinder 9/10 Cylinder head 7.5/10  Tappet Plate   Seemed a bit more brittle than most... but seemed to work quite well!  8/10 Edited December 16, 2007 by Blink43va
Blink43va
Part 2  7mm Nylon Bushings   Tons of seem lines... needed to shave some off for it to fit flush in the gearbox!  5/10 (replace ASAP!)  Nozzle and Anti-Reversal Latch   Nozzle seemed pretty damn tough as did the anti-reversal latch! However the anti reversal latches copper sleeve which goes over the metal post on the top end was slipping up and down and could come off!  9/10 for the Nozzle 8/10 for the Anti Reversal Latch  Gears!    XYT Gears... fine! Even the STAR AEG's use em!  Pretty tough! 9/10  Spring... pretty stiff!   There is all the internal part reviews!  I hope this really helped some of you!  Shimming was meh (7/10)  Grease was lose (2/10)  Overall i'd give the gearbox a 7.5-8/10!  Take care, and be sure to ask any questions you need!  -Blink Edited December 16, 2007 by Blink43va
REVOA4
Does anyone else have problems with there selector plate coming loose? I remember reading somewhere about a quick fix for that but I can't find it anymore? My selector switch comes loose after firing off 100 rounds or so. I just hand tighten it after each mag is done which is getting old! Â
Blink43va
Mine is loose, haven't found a good solution as to why its loose...
pathfinder909
I would like to know how to fix the loose selector too, oh and the front sight is loose... it wobbles from left to right, any fix for this? thanks
EvilCookie
I didn't notice the selector becoming loose on my AKS74. I did put a single layer of teflon tape on the threads for the selector switch though so I didn't have to tighten it so much. Maybe this can help?
snorkelman
not had any problem with mine either (no tape or threadlock or anything on it) If I was hittign probs with a selector lever then I'd consider bending it a little (and by a little I MEAN a little ie so the front is maybe down a mm from being flat) so theres a little spring tension placed on the base of the locating bolt Much the same way a spring washer stops a nut from working loose. However before doing that check and make sure you have pushed the rear of the lever down fully intp place before fitting and tightening the bolt and confirm the front of the lever is giving a positive click at each position
pathfinder909
Hey snorkelman, I see that in your review you noted how the front sight post would wobble left and right - Â Is there a fix for that? I can try and "snap" it back in place but then it always comes out of place and the sight is off either by the left or the right. Thanks!
snorkelman
if you mean side to side play in the front sight post barrel (that passes thru the front sight housing) try just flowing a little superglue or black paint into the gap between the barrel and the housing once you're sure you've acurately set the sight is probably the easiest way to stop the side to side play
Renalan
Where can I find a sight mount for the 74? I've been having trouble at all the big airsoft retailers.
REVOA4
Can anyone tell me the length of the inner barrel? Â Also, any recommendations for upgrading the hop up unit? I have a firefly bucking ready to install and I'm considering charging the hop up and barrel at the same time. Â Â EDIT, so i just found it. Inner barel length is 270mm. I'm having a hard time locating one however??? Â Also, do you think its worth while to upgrade the barrel since its so short in the first place? Edited December 27, 2007 by REVOA4
snorkelman
From memory I think you've got sufficent room within the flashhider to go to 285mm for the inner barrel (I just cut a scrap prometheus tightbore to maximum length for mine though so dont quote me on the 285 it was a while back now, best measuring and confirming there is another 15mm to play with before buying a new barrel) Â Clean the hop it tends to be filthy and use a harder thicker nub (I used a bit of a rubber o ring cut to size) and give it a try before ditching the stock hop unit
pathfinder909
hey guys, I am having a little trouble filing the mag latch. I've filed it down a good bit... but it still does not seem to accept my mags. The standard Dboys one still fits, and also half of my metal ak mags. However, the metal ak mags do not feed. The other half of the metal mags will not go in. (the metal mags are TM compatible ) Should I file it down some more? I took a cm.031 and measured the file latch from top to bottom and it measures 3.5 centimeters... and so does my dboys! I don't want to file any more than I should for fear of damaging something. Thanks!
REVOA4
I just kept filing mine until the mags fit. I would file it some more. FYI, I'm using MAG mags and G&P mid caps, they both work. Â Even if you completely destroy the mag catch on the gun I'm sure another one can be ordered our found somewhere from a spare AK! Â Â Â What brand mags are you using???
pathfinder909
http://store.matrixbb.com/servlet/-strse-2...ui-Exact/Detail  I'm pretty sure its this brand... I have no idea who makes it. I didn't order it from Evike, nor is it a high cap... but I think thats the same manufacturer.  Thanks about the buying the new latch bit.... if all else fails I will do that... just gonna have to figure out how to disassemble that part.
REVOA4
Not positive but have you tried using Ak74 mags becuase those are Ak47. That might be your problem. Â Â
snorkelman
dissasembling it is easy its the putting it back together thats a pain in the *albatross* If you've never done one before then take a sketch or two of the spring position (which part of the spring sits where and pushe against what etc) before pushing the latch pin thru to dismantle it. Â Make sure the problem mags are aligning themselves properly with the hop unit feed tube - otherwise you could end up filing the catch down to nothing for no worthwhile effect. pathfinder909
Ok thanks. As you can see, i'm kind of a complete noob with this stuff. one more question though, if you don't mind... I disassembled the whole gearbox, reassembled, and now I'm trying to fit it back in the main gun frame. My main dillemma now is the L shaped piece that secures the hop up. It won't fit back in if the gearbox is set in the body. On the other hand, the gearbox won't go in if the L shaped piece is set in place. What gives? Do I need to file down the L shaped piece? thanks
snorkelman
make sure the lip of the front collar of the hop unit is inside the mechbox shell and not just resting against it, thats the usual reason the L shape wont go back in place, if it still seems like its not going to fit post a photo and I'll take a look
dookieboy
Had the same problem and that is thje solution though I figured that out the hard way... :/
greatwatermelon
yo,  i've been having problems with my dboy aks74u  it's making a distinct pop sound more frequently now, and when it does, the hop up doesn't work  any solutions
REVOA4
Â Â Â I'm looking for a replacement front sight, mine cracked at the bottom where the 2 pins go, so no my front sight wobbles from side to side of course. It was dropped onto concrete directly on the front sight so it took a pretty big impact . Â I've been looking all over but can't seem to locate a D-Boys sight. Any help is appreciated!
