Tinkerton
Had the first session of our DnD campaign last night. Was expecting simply hacky slashy gentle introduction. Boom! Betrayal, traps, and Indiana Jones dungeoneering from the get go. LOVE IT.
Gunnman
Man, I haven't played DnD since middle school. Great memories.
amateurstuntman
IT'S SNOWMAGEDDON! ALL THE MILK IS GONE! EVERYBODY IS ABANDONING THEIR CARS. shmook
There's hardly more than a few millimetres of snow here... Same here, and most melted in the sun today. Now I've got to drink 9000 gallons of milk and eat 46 pallets of bread before it goes off...
amateurstuntman
As I am sure you all know, the bit of road on top of a bridge gets colder than normal roads due to the cold air getting under it. The bridge over Four Elms Hill near my work was a solid slab of ice this morning. There was a police car there trying to sort out stuck and abandoned cars until 1500hrs. These people are a menace. However, the Pinz is fantastic in the cold.
Hedganian
Just grit the *fruitcage* out of the damn bridge, how hard is that?
shmook
A hiab lifting cars off the bridge and depositing them in the water would be a decent lesson to others...

amateurstuntman
Look, snow settles on the ground - what - 3? Days a year? Most local councils only grit bus routes now because gritting infrastructure is really expensive and is only useful a few days a year. When it snows (and isn't just cold) grit doesn't really work anyway. You need plows. Plows are really, really expensive. So, grit bus routes. Put winter tyres on busses (cheaper than plows). Put some kind of scraper on the the front of trains (how hard can it be?). Now, if you need to get to work, go on a bus or a train. If that won't work, buy some bloody winter tyres. The gov will announce when it is a snow day. On those days, anyone caught on the roads without winter tyres will be liquefied and have their cars confiscated. The snow isn't the problem, stupid people are.

shmook
To be fair, I've never needed winter tyres on any car I've had. I've been driving (legally) for 21 years and the only mistakes I've had in the snow were from running out of talent when younger. I once got pulled out of a ditch by a diesel Peugeot 309 in 6 inches of snow. That didn't have winter tyres either... Most of the country doesn't get enough snow to warrant winter tyres Edit, not everyone can go to work on a bus or train either.
