UK Banning....what? 0_0

I think saying most parents are stupid, is a harsh comment to make. I know a fair few parents who are decent and only want the best for their children.

Regarding the rape pornography v Hollywood action. It's a vey good argument and one that has never found a true answer. But, it's always best to brake it down to its core. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between acted rape, in a porno and true (snuff) rape. I think that's why, some people think it should be banned. I'm not one for banning but I do think rape pornography is wrong, as the sole content, is rape and dominance (which a lot of real life rape is about, dominating someone rather than the actual sex).

But hey, I love a bit of role play, just not "pretend you don't know me and rape me please", that's were I draw the line (oh and children and animals is a big NO. Just to expel any thought or notion that I think those types of pornography, are okay). I don't like those sites that are called "barely legal", but I don't think banning them would be correct, just not my thing (always had a thing for naughty forties).

The bottom line is this. As an adult we have gone through life and made/make choices, based on our moral compass. With the choices we made/make, we bare them on to our children. If you don't want your children to watch "x","y" and "z", then there are measures that can be put in place, to prevent your children from viewing "x", "y" and "z". That's what this should be about, parents taking more of an active role, with what they allow, their children access too.

and potentially end up on a list of people known to watch porn

So a list that features about 85% of the UK populance at least? :P

Either way it would be an idea but then lazy parents wouldn't turn it on or it wouldn't be updated and new sites appear.

Or they can just get it from those magazines that people used to throw out when I was growing up?

You mean like Net Nanny? It's a software free to download so parents can control content browsed by children. Stupid parents don't use it. If it came mandatory with OS software, they probably still won't use it.

Exactly, something like net nanny but built into the OS software

At the end of the day we can sit here discussing ways of keeping kids away from online smut but if the parents aren't willing to take steps then there is not much that can be done. Also the more we make online smut (or anything for that matter) a big taboo the more enticing we make it to kids

To me this whole change in the law is just a cheap way of securing votes by appearing to do something which in reality will do nothin but penalise innocent law abiding citizens. I wonder where we've all seen that before

It is different though, you don't have to ask to be put on a list in order to buy a top shelf mag.

True ! But you do have to be legaly old enough to buy it . So its the same concept as an online restriction .

But I think they have underestimated kids ingenuity nowadays. , won't take long for them to find a way around it ..

IIRC don't you have to be over 18 to enter into a contract such as those for Internet access or mobile phones?

I agree with your other point about underestimating the kids as the moment the brin in new technology someone will find a way around it. Anyone else remember when Microsoft released XP saying it couldn't be pirated and within a month they had to release patches because pirated versions were available online

I doubt many 12 year olds pay for thier own Internet connection though, it's provided by their parents and just like your dad's grot mags, it is their responsibility to keep that adult themed content from getting into your possession.

The problem with having it at OS level is pretty much manifold.

1) There is no one OS that they'd have to cover, it'd have to cover Windows, Mac and ALL Linuxes. And to make it mandatory would requie government to ban all non-compliant OS's. Easy to say, and next thing you know, you're in jail for runing deviant OS when your computer is one patch late...

2) With a OS-level filter software, well, it needs to KNWO what you are trying to watch. So -all- network traffic needs to open open for the filter. And how long do you think it takes for someone to backdoor you like smething that is being filtered?

3) Of course, the filters need to be updateable. So next elections, it's the losing party's material, or any material that talks about politicians and bakers in same sentence. Welcom eot 'you only know what the State wnats yu to know, or you're in Jail'.

Abuse of this kinds of systems is the Holy Grail for those who want to be our masters, because it is so easy, and after a blast of brainwashing the masses, any deviations will be lynched as perverts.

Yes, it's been a while since I was at school but when I was the sex ed basicly consisted of:

This is what's going to happen to your body,

This is the biology of what happens in conception and pregnancy

These are the different types of contraception

There was nothing about porn and how it differs from reality

Most kids access porn from their mobile phones . Now this already has over 18 content restrictions on it . That most kids get around very easily . So I can see them doing exactly the same with pc and other access . Will be near nigh impossible to block access to them . Unless every user has a unique account they have to jump through hoops to use . Proof of I'd , age etc .required to log in ..

They want to get rid of pay as you go phones for this very reason , due to the lack of user I'd

This would be a perfect ruse for the goverment to use to bring in laws making access to mobile networks , net, impossible unless you are verified first ..

Camden have started a free wifi service . You get 30 mins free but to continue after that you have to give out all your personal details and get invaded by advertising and spam .. Yet another scheme to gain personal details for re use ...

Then surely the responsible things for the parents to do is contact the airtime provider and have them block adult material to that number?

Not as easy as you think, the networks give away free SIM cards like confetti nowadays . So the kids will just get one of these to circumvent the parents control

Kids and drug dealers love these pay as you go disposable phones and SIM cards ..

Manchester airport do a free 30 minutes of wifi, you have to give details but don't have to confirm your email so loads of justin bieber fans are getting offers for parking at the airport every couple of days.

Good point, thinking about it the only really effective way of doing anything is through education. Educate the kids that, yes porn is out there but it is in no way realistic. This should remove the taboo around it and so reduce its appeal. Better sex ed classes would hopefully also take us off the spot of having the highest teen pregnancy rates in Europe.

At the same time the parents can also be educated about what they can do at home

Sure there may be flaws with this but no system will be 100% perfect and it has to be better than blanket measures like what is bein proposed

Porn is definatly not realistic , maybe they should re edit in the fa.ny farting and have a kid walk in half way through and then let the women moan about the decorating and kids at the final shots .

Enough to put most people off it !

This is nothing more than back door censorship.

The Government want to protect children? Don't make me laugh. The Establishment probably has the largest collection of nonces in the country, protected by nonce Judges, Politicians and Uniformed Filth.

Looks like we'll just have to go back to the late night VHS taping of Channel 5.

Ah childhood.

I remember those days, watching those awful '18' rated softcore films that had only about 15-20% sex in total and made no sense at all. Or those programs like Eurotrash that had the odd bit you wanted to tape and 'enjoy' :P

This is nothing more than back door censorship.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

So that's where they get their stock from , to sell at rip off prices !!

Taxes pay for them. That's right those 'stamps' or whatever you pay to the NHS is used to dish out condoms that are 80% used for intended purposes and 20% used to put on car exhausts ;)

Or the price of condoms in garages and late night polish shops !!!

Wait they sell condoms in that place that I get my wingtips shined by a young ruffian, by jove.

Highest teen pregnancy rates is probably partly down to the free ride they get for it.

Again hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
