Um, no. NOT true.

If you take a direct hit at close range your EO will DEFINATELY crack. Then you're out many bills.

Cheap simple solution: trace the forward apeture of your optic and go to a plastics/plexiglass shop to get them to cut you a small clear piece to fit over the front. (Lexan preferably, but ¼ inch/6-7mm plastic will do)

Wrong... :waggle:

I don't know about the cheapo replica that just came out, but a REAL EOTech is not stopped by something as trivial as a crack in the glass. If the crack in the glass interferes with the reticle, it will actually move the reticle to a place where there is no crack. And, through the wonders of holographics, it will still be perfectly on target! Refer to the image below - On the left is mud, the center is ice, and the right is a crack.

"Red dot sights use refractive or reflective optics to generate a collimated image of a luminous or reflective reticle. This collimated image appears to be projected out to a point at infinity, which makes the image of the reticle appear to the user to be projected onto the target."

That's what the ACOG does, isn't it?

They might be RDS, but they are not reflex sights.

That is to say, they have an illuminated reticle and a telescopic lens.

I have a friend who dislikes illuminated sights, although he can understand illuminated reflex sights much more easily than illuminated telescopic sights.
