Rizla
I'm trying to sort out the best place to store my AEG's between skirmishes and thought i'd ask if there's a right and wrong way to keep them? Up to now i've been keeping them in their boxes in a pile, but i'm trying to get a gun rack type of mount on the wall. My only worry is the wall where i'm planning to put them is above a radiator. Will they suffer being heated up? i've done a search so hopefully this hasn't been asked before, if it has, apologies!
supportgunner
I throw all my gear in a locker in the garage after every skirmish, and after a day or two I'll get around to emptying my Camelbak, disconnecting batteries etc. I'll usually have AEGs in various corners of my house for a week or two until the next game when I'll go around the house looking for everything. I'm pretty sure that's what most skirmishers do, but if you're primarily a chairsofter, or just like looking at your guns, by all means go for a wall rack. I can't imagine that a radiator would damage them, unless it's really close.
Azulsky
After the skirmish i disconnect batts, empty mags, guns in soft cases, ammo, mags, and batts in ammo can(s), gear gets a good rub down with a towel and thats all put into the locker
Rizla
hmm, i haven't really got much room for a locker, although sounds like a good plan the main reason for wanting to put them on a wall is to have easy access. at the minute if i want the gun out of the bottom of the pile it takes ages to unstack it all get it out and re-stack. the pile is at the top of the stairs so it's tricky to manoeuvre! if i can get them onto the wall they're all easy to grab, plus look ok too
ChasKi
I can't see why the heat would damage them, unless as already suggested you have them pretty close to it. aslong as there's enough room for reasonable ventilation/heat dissapation you should be fine. Atleast your guns will be warm to hold on those cold bitter winters nights eh? My guns tend to get left in gun bags with the odd one in the corner of the room.
morugatu
I stick my 'primary' in it's gun case and my secondary just lays against the wall in my room. All my other guns go in my garage or the chance few that I have apart usually sit on my desk a.k.a. my workbench and usually collect dust for a month before I get the initiative to dust em' down and fix em'. I'm looking into another gun case for my secondary, but no luck on any cheap deals thus far. P.S. I live in the desert, so I usually don't have to worry about oiling my guns (I do have to clean my barrels out all the time though since there's more dust here), so if you live in a humid area, you may also want to oil them before storing them. Rizla
well if yours are ok in the desert i'm sure mine will be ok above a radiator cheers for the advice guys

Capt Barsteward
i have one of those flambeau double hardcase`s with a "de-moisteriser" type thing in it. its great because when you it in the hard case every time you open it the gun feels nice and greaseless and its got the added protection of the hardcase. when storing it i always remove the mag, put the end cap on, shot it on single fire (to complete the cycle just in case its been shot on full auto unless its my ics m16a3 with one of those foward assits knobs) then putting it on safe then i out the gun away for storage. in short get a hardcase the are amazing and if you have one and your mates don`t you will be the envy of them

socomsar
To keep the springs in your mags tight for feeding, you should ideally empty them after matches, but i find it good to empty them at the end of the day. Also, Marui dischargers will keep your battery life long. At the end of each match though (this is the important one), you should always fire 4 shots in semi just to make sure that the spring has been decompressed. A decompressed spring is a happy spring, adding life to your aeg. As for keeping the guns in a safe location, I'd recommend waiting for your local sporting goods store to put a rifle case on sale. The build quality is top notch, and many come with eggshell foam inside (it keeps guns in an amazing condition externally). Just a thought...
Svack
ditto on the 4 shot thing, im sure your guns will be happy wherever you put them, mine live on top of my wardrobe, keep meaning to wall mount them but can be arsed. a hardcase sounds good though, depends if you want to show them off or not

xKingSizex
I always throw mine back in the cases and store them in the garage. However, lately I have noticed some rust on guns that I never even use. I live about 1 block from the beach and it seems that the salt air is making it in to my garage and through my soft cases. I have a double hard case as well, and now I am going to go buy a couple more of them for storing the guns in. I will just use the soft cases for transporting to a skirmish from now on. The beach is great to live close to, except if you own anything metal...you should see the handlebars on my bike, ouch.
Tarnish
Considering the abuse my AEGs have thrown at them during the average skirmish I'm quite sure they can withstand any storage location I can come up with. Basically if they're inside your house stored then you've got nothing to worry about, a radiator certainly wouldn't hurt them.
greg
You could always hang it in the back window, behind the seats of your pick up. But seriously, the star 'pelicases' that come with l85's are great. About £70. Greg.

Rev Golightly
This is my drill Remove batts from all AEG's Remove all BB's from AEG and gas and spring mags Wipe down all AEG's, gas and spring weapons (remove any mud, sweat, condensation or ###### etc) Pull through all barrels with a silicon impreganed pull through then with a dry one Ensure any red dots are off Ensure there is some gas in gas mags de-gas any gas grenades Store in Hard cases Other stuff Clean and polish boots /reproof Clean goggles and put in a scratch proof bag Clean off webbing/ vests Wash all kit, no conditioner, you look like a glow worm through NV Flush camelback/ bottles with steri fluid and air dry Store any unused pyro's in a metal tin with the lid shut All my stuff sits in the roof so its out of the way of the rest of the family, I dont like the idea of displaying an arsenal with kids about. Lance Jackass
A very informative post there golightly. The one other thing i do is make sure that all springs are decompressed. Most people do that at the end of a game anyway.

GuzziHero
I just disconnect batteries and empty midcaps (or release the spring tension if Ive used Hicaps). Clean the barrels every now and then. As for storage...I have a bunkbed so as of today theyre going underneath that so as not to scare the bejeebers out of the window cleaners like they did LAST time. I felt like poop over that...in another world that could have led to me being raided by the fuzz! I want one of those proper gun racks...but for now Ive jury rigged one out of a little kiddies wooden chair and some imagination.
.50 Cal
If the missus had her way my AEG / GBB would be triple locked and alarmed in a secure underground bunker, with an armed escort at all times. In my world they are unloaded / battery disconnected after use and stored in soft cases in a cupboard, along with all the various tac gear. It's quite cool that my 4 year old is showing an interest and has asked when I will be taking her... .
BigAl
Store any unused pyro's in a metal tin with the lid shut Instant grenade, better off in a non metal container.
BenjaminRombough
Instant grenade, better off in a non metal container. Thats why all Military ammunition is stored in metal Boxes then hmmm? Metal ammo tins from an army surplus shop is a good place for your pyro and they are all airtight so even if the caps come off and you get an accidental strike their is not enough oxygen to cause ignition.
BigAl
No, but thats why as a condition on an explosives licence the police advise you to store explosives in a non metalic box. Military ammo and pyro is metal cased anyway, so not so likely to be detonated by a stray spark.
