Finally up! High speed airsoft grenade video at Airsoft Innovations

Recommended Posts

Congrats Carl! Like I said, I'm down for three or four whenever pre-orders are available.

Question 1: Someone else asked this ~ What pouches would hold this product? Flashbang pouches? Looks too big for M203 pouches.

Question 2: Seeing as the only thing that a user can loose is the ring/pin, will it be possible to buy spare ring/pins?

Question 3: Are you still thinking about selling brightly colored sleeves to replace the current sleeve for users that worry about loosing the black grenade? Or do you feel a colorful streamer attached to the grenade will do the job?

Question 4: You've mentioned the 3 second timer and hinted at other user adjustable timer settings. Can you comment more on that? To me 1.5 secs seems too short, but 3 secs seems too long (unless you get used to cooking the grenade).

Question 5: Unit weight?

Simply can't wait to get these. And a video of it in practical use would be awesome!

All the above and any idea of retail price at this point in time?

IMO, the sound it makes is a loud "pop" with a "zap" component to it. It's not a "brrrrrp", the grenade discharges its load of BBs in a second or less, so the sound is definitely explosive in nature. The footage of it spinning is highly slowed down.

Don't know what BATF regulation on grenades are, but these grenades are not pyro.

They're definitely too big for 40mm grenade pouches. Somewhere between double AR and triple AR.

LESS THAN A QUARTER OF A SECOND

for pouches, you are looking at largish smoke/flash pouches, a long double 203 pouch with the middle stitching removed should work, as should a large handset radio pouch

like i just said: flashbang pouches are too small. smoke pouches might work but have not been tested yet.

There are different sizes to different pouches depending on what era they are from.

I have 2 early flashbang pouches that can fit a pop can pretty well, thus the "largish" in my post

One sure bet would be the pouches that hold standard size water bottles, though I bet they are way too tall.

So would HSGI's Smoke pouches work? Like this Single and this Double Smoke pouch? They can fit the M-18 Smoke Grenade.

I would imagine Carl would have designed this product with the mindset that it could fit current issue tactical gear pouches. A smoke pouch seems pretty standard to me. I'd like to know because if I were to buy these grenades, I'll need pouches to hold them obviously.

I think it shoots out at about 140 FPS. MSRP hasn't been determined yet, just keep looking at his website.

Whats BATF compliance?

Bureau of Alcohol Tabacco and Firearms.

These seem really cool and they say they'll survive the throws but I mean how long can something last when it's thrown repeatedly against the wall and floor? Not to mention I truely agree with a previous statement, I think propane would hurt.

They look pretty stout. I'd be more worried about dudes walking off with them.

edited twice due to epic fail....

One of the tests involved Manchovie throwing one against a radiator for a few hours. How often are you planning to throw your grenade against something of similar hardness?

I took a few BBs when I had a chance with them during their public demo. I'd say it was rather like being shot with a stock AEP, rather than a 1J or higher gun. The concern over propane is unwarranted, IMO.

140 fps on GG isn't bad at all. I've been shot with springers more powerful than that at point blank range... you know you've been hit, but it didn't "hurt". And considering I've been hit at point blank/short range using M203 grenades... I'd be fine being KIA by one of these grenades.

Has anyone actually got a proper video of this thing actually going of as the videos I've seen thus far (including a pointless cartoon type) are pants?

Cut the man some slack, Dude.

We were very lucky with one of the high speed shots that captured the grenade going off completely unconstrained. It's going to be part of a later video release at the end of the promo series. We're going to have to be annoying and dose out the high speed video as we near product launch as we're still working on the promo series. It's actually a bit exhausting working with this material. Each shot eats a couple gigs and the animation isn't all that easy to make. It doesn't help that we're a bunch of amateurs too. A lot of this work is a new experience for us, but it's exciting and fun at least. It also doesn't involve power tools so we can have a beer while we work.

Is that sick as in good or sick as in not good? Unfortunately when I was at school I learned English and not street talk so am unsure of your meaning.

I've heard there is a video somewhere out there that actually shows this thing going off as thats the one I'm trying to find. All the links I've followed thus far have been a dead end.

Just checked Google. It means good.

Racist? Oh purleess......

It was a simply question. I ask again, anyone got any videos apart from that pointless cartoon jobbie as I cannot see any anthing from other links by other posters?

No. None that I have encountered. To be fair, this first video is part of a larger advertising campaign. And as such it appears to be the intention of AI to not reveal too much and to gradually show more and more in order to drum up excitement about this product. Calling it pants and pointless isn't really fair. It may not be your taste, but just think of it as an introductory video to give people a better understanding of the concept behind this particular product. And I wouldn't classify it as pointless, as even though we'd all like to see it used in a practical application, at the very least we get to see a slow motion video of the device in a controlled situation to better understand the operation of this device. That alone is more information than the general public had a week ago. So pointless? No. Would more info be appreciated? Of course! But Carl has promised that will come, and we simply have to be patient. Personally, if Carl skipped the animatics and went straight for the practical live action videos I'd be fine with it. But I respect Carl's personal desire to dress up the videos a bit.

If only these worked like a BoBo doll or like the mags

in Equilibrium (at 1.21 into the video), where it automaticaly sits its self up, it wouldnt be too hard to create but i guess it would add weight to the grenade. But the range and power would be lethal !

I think it is BATF compliant, IDK. Most people call it the ATF that is why I was caught off guard.

Yo, Creeping he just officially announced that the grenade was going to be released. So chill with the demand of videos, I mean the price hasn't even been determined yet lol. Also for those looking for something that works for like a grenade and can't have pyrotechnics, check out Maple leaves since they are in the process of trying to get their grenade distributed and stuff. I think someone posted about them in the summer. You know James "Boom".

Like mentioned earlier Carl is in control of the media. The grenade in the video on the site right now used the old version of his timer which required water. That explains why you saw beads of water coming out, not pieces of the grenade. The newer version of his timer doesn't need water.

Also these grenades have been tested in games and stuff in Canada, and have proven to be very durable. It isn't the end all R&D for airsoft grenades but it is getting close. It is a huge step up from Deepfire or PDI, or escort grenades, I can tell you that much.

Crimson, you could probably mod the thing to do that, it would be like a huge mexican jumping bean or whatever. You know what I am talking about? Those kid toys? They look like pill capsules?

Hmmm... I wonder how do-able that would be.

* From what we've seen so far, the detonation of this grenade produces quite a bit of force. So keeping it up right might prove difficult.

* Secondly, the grenade appears to have a non-rounded bottom. In order for it to stand on its end when dropped, you would need to have the end rounded and a weight added to it. Which is possibly do-able if the black sleeve can be swapped out with another that has a rounded base with a weight built into it. Or, depending on how it is currently designed, a weighted and rounded piece can be added to the bottom to give the same effect.

* Thirdly, is adding extra weight to this device a good thing? Additional weight may result in the increased likeliness to cause damage should the device itself hit someone.

Interesting proposition though!
