I carry my rifle (Ares SA80) and four mags, one in the gun. I carry a WA Hardballer and four mags, one in the gun, a radio and some first aid stuff.

That's about it really.. I feel really under kitted compared to all you lot !!

Sounds fairly standard to me.

Personally I add on some water, but other than that, you've got the same sort of list as what I keep on me.; and probably an awful lot of other people. Pretty much all anyone needs for your average rifleman load-out:

Primary + ammo

Secondary + ammo

Comms

FAK

Hydro

Sorted.

Lately my team has been training for bigger ops with more a sustainment leaning to them, so I've been playing/training with a whole hell of a lot more gear, like ardrummer292. List as complete as I can recall it:

It sounds a bit ridiculous, and took me quite a while just to write all that out, but it's not hard once you get used to it, really. Last game was at 6000+ feet elevation, and I could keep up or lead the way with pretty much anyone out there, and it helps you get in shape! And I was never concerned about being out of the fight for any likely reason for even a minute.

you know sigma, your kit all makes sense though. I like it. I would change your screwdriver for one of the compact toolkits, they're hardly bigger than a bag of BB's but have an torque bit-screwdriver, numerous heads, small screwdrivers and allen keys and pliers (I leave mine out because of the multi-tool) and I can generally disassemble my gun on the field if something goes kaput. I wouldn't take apart a gearbox or something (even tho I COULD) because of dirt grease etc, but it's been so helpful when a team-members gun goes dead and the problem is fixable.. for the want of a spanner ;)

It must be said, there are few things more universally handy than the thin edge of a flat headed screw driver. Weird as this is going to sound, I find that a strong, thin piece of metal comes in useful for such a ridiculously huge number of potential tasks that I can't actually think of anything specific right off the top of my head.

Human fingers are often just that bit too fat and stubby to deal with the tiny little fiddly parts we often need to fix, and when you just need to open/separate something and your breaking your finger nails trying (sure a lot of folks out there have been in that situation in the field) then something as simple as a screw driver you got in last years' christmas cracker can be a real god send. Does amuse me the way such simple things make the biggest of differences sometimes, it's quite cool really. Unless you don't actually have a leatherman/gerber to hand, and then you get very annoyed at how simple a thing it is you'd need to fix whatever problem is occurring at the time.

Here's a quick tip if you don't have a screwdriver: the spoon of a grenade can often accomplish the same tasks in a pinch, such as adjusting motor height in an AEG.

Y'know, for all those many life situations where you don't have a screwdriver handy, but do have a grenade.
