amateurstuntman
It's out of stock already... I'd definitely consider a Marui MP7, I love the hop but I am committed to the KWA MP9. I have limited knowledge of stress fractures etc. but from the looks of it the problem could be that the inside of the casting has a nearly right angle transition from sides to front. To make it stronger I think they need to radius that transition to stop the crack propagating. Should be a fairly simple matter for an aftermarket parts manufacturer to achieve,
renegadecow
Take a look at this part on the nozzle: That's nice. I imagine there's some poor bloke on the assembly line who has to chew off the nozzle part correction to make it look that bad.
sacairsoftsn00py
Preview of my MP7 rig. Hopefully its ready for pick up tomorrow Edited December 18, 2012 by sacairsoftsn00py
sacairsoftsn00py
Just got my rig. Still waiting on the velcro lids for the SMG pouches. Head On Tactical MP7 Rig. Holds 5 MP7 Magazines and 2 Pistol Magazines. Velcro Lids are to be used for primary retention. I opted for my home made Kydex inserts instead as they are plenty secure. The chest area opens up for storage of flat items. Inside the pouch is an elastic keeper which allows you to organize items that fit in it. The rig was cut low to allow for a more positive grip on the MP7 magazines when drawing them. Edited December 20, 2012 by sacairsoftsn00py
Voxcaster
Do you know how much those are going to cost?
sacairsoftsn00py
I'm not sure how much it'll run. You will have to contact him to find out. I'm not sure if the price I paid for it will be the same as what he will be selling the rigs for. Prices may also change depending on the configuration you want. If you want a 3-4 MP7 mag chest rig, It could be done. My rig in particular measures about 15" across. These are built as they are ordered. PALS/MOLLE pouches may also be available on a built as they're ordered basis. You can see what type of quality this rig has from the pics. This rig was built per my specifications along with his input into it. I personally don't like buckles on the chest area as it gets in the way of my thumb when drawing a mag so I asked for the harness to be sewn in instead. http://headontactical.storenvy.com That's his website. demoncase
Going back to nozzle failures earlier in the thread: That looks like a brittle failure, rather than an overstressed failure, judging* by the shell-shaped tide marks in the failure face on the pictures shown. This is an injection moulded part- Understand that an injection mould will have 3-50 part spaces in each tool, so a single 'shot' produces as many as possible. It's most likely that there are 10 or so nozzles in each shot. If the tool is poorly designed and/or process controls aren't being adhered to, you often get the part-mould furthest from the shot being poorly cast- The plastic is cooling and not flowing as well, so you get 'cold weld' lines which will result in creating a stress raiser in use- The crack is already there, and it's a question of when not if it fails....I've seen this in metal-injection moulded parts and polymer parts equally over the years. This happens over time and as the mould wears- each shot of molten plastic reduces the polish on the inside of the tool, increasing friction and slowing the time the plastic take to travel around the mould. Without regular refinishing of the tool, you can even get 'short shots' where some parts aren't fully 'filled' with plastic. What's at fault here- again extrapolating based on experience- is probably QC not picking up that the process has drifted over time and a small proportion of each batch are non-conforming....In this case, without something like a dye-penetrant inspection of every part, it's hard to spot cold weld on dark plastic parts- short of reported failures. You only use dye-pen on safety critical components due to the cost/time implication, and that ain't airsoft. You can test-to-destruction a sample, then accept or reject the batch- but if there is a variation across a batch (as I describe) it's luck of the draw if you get a non-forming one.....and here we are.... The airvoid in that first noted failure is telling- that's clear a symptom of poor material flow inside the mould as I describe above. Just to note- these are problems that EVERY manufacturer of injection mouldings has to keep on top of- airsoft or not....I went into Homebase to buy a new kitchen bin a few weeks ago and found the 'reduced to clear' ones all had a clear 'cold weld' line running down the length of the body. I didn't buy one. Would all the above stop me buying an MP7 if I was in the market? Nope....It's a production hiccup, for my money. *Not wanting to get into an internet 'willy length' competion, but I've a Bsc in Materials Science, 5 years in a technical materials laboratory specialising in polymers and ceramics, 10 years experience as a NADCAP heat-treatment/chemical processing auditor and 15 years overall in the aerospace industry. Xtcy
It's probably sold out because I bought 3 of the original nozzles I'll just use it till it breaks and I'll get a free reinforced one from Ehobby as well I think I'll use my MP7 as a Winter GBB gun while the Kriss will be used as a all season gun. sacairsoftsn00py
Nice. I'm waiting for the shipping confirmation for my KWA KRISS too
sacairsoftsn00py
Put another 500 rounds in a game tonight...gun is still shooting awesome. Probably put about 1200 rounds through it over 3 game days. I don't play a lot...I usually play between one 10-15 minute round (where I'm one of the people who usually use up their respawns early on....I take opposing team members with me though) to 5 rounds. If I recall correctly, someone had an issue about releasing the bolt on empty, putting a fresh mag in, hitting the bolt catch and the gun not operating properly....That happened to my buddy when he used my gun. That has never happened to me before...probably because I top off when I'm behind cover. I normally don't let my mag go on empty as I don't need for them to. I run with 9 mags I pulled the bolt carrier group and noticed that the 20T torx screw was a little loose causing the assembly to somewhat wiggle. Sprayed the pieces with electronic parts cleaner, dried it, and put some blue loctite on the screw...tightened it. BCG is back to being solid...issue cured. Got COD Black Ops2 and been running theMP7A1 with the reflex sight and suppressor set up...just like my TM MP7A1....reflex sight plus TM tracer unit..haha!
DarkLite
I've run about 1500-2000 bbs through mine and no issues so far, though I'm thinking I should give it a tear down and relube soon. No issues so far, though I have been careful to make sure I don't shove that last bb into the mags so the bolt can return to battery 100%. I'm also itching to put a PDI 6.01mm tightbore and a W-hold hop inside, as that combo is very, very effective in my TM hicapa.
Skarclaw
######. I've done a side by side. The kwa's selector is *suitcase*, the hop up is *fruitcage* terrible, the recoil non-existent, the accuracy likewise, It's far too powerful for cqb, the stock wobbles when extended, it is shiny and plasticy, the nozzle loves to jump its retraction springs and jam unless you superglue them in place and the "trades" are *fruitcage* awful. The tm looks nicer, feels more solid, performs better in terms of accuracy, range, trigger response, recoil, stock adjustment and most crucially, being able to buy spare mags. lol I can practically taste the self-validation in this post! All of my points are valid regardless of how much you assume I'm trying to reassure myself that I've spent my money wisely. The TM MP7 is, in my opinion and the opinion of anyone I've met who has had a go with my MP7, superior to the KWA and a hell of a lot more fun.
sacairsoftsn00py
Haters gonna hate...players gonna play. I'd rather play with my Marui MP7 than a KSC/KWA one due to personal preference. Sure there are down sides to the TM MP7 but the up-sides weigh more. KWA MP7's too have its up sides and down sides...more up-sides than down sides too if you ask me. Between the two however...I like the TM MP7 better. I've owned two KWA MP7's in the past. I own two TM MP7 GBB's currently... My opinions come from personal experience of owning and gaming with the two systems. Just saying And yes, I was happy with my KWA MP7 when it first came out and thought it was awesome...TM coming out with their own offering now gives people an alternative when it comes to picking a GBB MP7. To each their own...
DarkLite
That being said, if TM come out with a GBB UMP or MP5, I will be all sorts of upset at wasting money on an MP7. :c
bankz5152
One thing we can ALL agree on is that both the KWA and the TM will be 1000x better than the VFC! Oh hell yes! UMP and an MP5 would just be the best thing in the world. That and a P90
amateurstuntman
Can you imagine how heavy a gas UMP mag would be? It would hold about 100 bbs too. Hell, you could probably fit an 88g CO2 cart in one...
