Sakey
Why are those Desert Eagles ejecting rifle cartridges? EvilMonkey
I want to know how you guys make the 3d guns, do you have to download anything?, if so i need a link.
Raptor3388
I use 3DS Max 8 which is VERY expensive. You can also use : Maya, Cinema 4D, Lightwave, XSI, Rhino,... If you plan to make gun for games, use GMax, which is a free and light version of 3DS Max. You can't make renders with it. There is another one that is free and with which you can do renders,...everything you can do with a very expensive software : Blender. I've never tried it so I can't tell you, but I've seen some amazing stuff being done with it.
MadCat360
Blender is probably the hardest program to learn on. I'd say Lightwave is the easiest to learn because it has the simplist layout and controls.
EvilMonkey
is there a link to get it ?
_maverick_
Here's my usp match and mac11, both made for bf2. I've been trying to solve some smoothing problems near the grip but I finally gave up. I left it because I figured it's going to be covered up in game anyways. This is my first model ever, nice and simple. I think it turned out pretty good, thank goodness I had a adept modeler directly tutoring me. This one's texturing is almost done. (Not shown of course) Oh and evil monkey I'd suggest googleing it. Edited January 8, 2007 by _maverick_

sekiryu
Why does the AS50's scope have a Dragunov SVD crosshair?
Wedgie
This is one from last year. Modelled in inventor. The second is just the gun thrown into 3D studio max with a new grip mapped onto it. I have improved quite a lot in max since then though.
_maverick_
Why does the AS50's scope have a Dragunov SVD crosshair? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope, it was made from stratch.
oikoik
I am using Lightwave 9 and Modo (the same guys that did lightwave) if ya need help with it ask me You might like this then if you like the desert eagle model, its a bit out of date as it was done when i only had half the DE done but it gives a bit of an idea of what im working on at the moment <{POST_SNAPBACK}> fellow 'waver too then Sakey and MadCat360 ! Sakey, i noticed the wire for your Eagle - whats the modeling method you use? I use 3DS Max 8 which is VERY expensive. You can also use : Maya, Cinema 4D, Lightwave, XSI, Rhino,... If you plan to make gun for games, use GMax, which is a free and light version of 3DS Max. You can't make renders with it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> afaik GMAX is no longer available so that option is out anyway. Edited May 2, 2007 by oikoik
sgtsampay
can someone make a deserteagle and an AK-47 mod for BF2? Also, I'm looking for a jsut a weapon mod and not a whole compete mod. Thanks all.

davedawg123
I'm not familiar with modeling but I'll take a crack with CAD. It's not much to look at yet, but here's work in progress:
_maverick_
Very nice ahh the benefits of not having poly limits. /jealousy
sekiryu
Probably asked a million times: What's the easiest to use, free 3D modelling program? I messed around with 3DsMax years ago--easy to model stuff, but I couldn't figure out how to do renders worth a damn. How the hell do you add color, texture, background, then render it, and take a nice snapshot?
oikoik
google sketch up? *shrugs* everythings got a learning curve whats 'easy' is very subjective...
TerranCmdr
True. If you liked 3ds, the free version is called gmax. Unfortunately it doesn't have a renderer. BTW that's looking badass davedawg. Edited May 3, 2007 by TerranCmdr
Skarclaw
Try milkshape, its really easy (for me atleast) it has a 30 day trial, you could pay for the full version, or you know...
Dist
blender is compleatly free, and hundreds of times better then milkshape imo.
oikoik
gmax isnt available anymore. last time i looked up gmax on discreets site they said 'get max instead'.
TerranCmdr
Lol. Well that sucks. If you're serious about modeling, get modo. It's only 100 bucks for a student copy and it's an excellent modeling program.
oikoik
modo should be good - the guys that were behind lightwave are the brains behind modo. i havent got round to using it though, i'm pretty ok with using modeler in lightwave..
