happy.al
Hello, Justin sent me some pictures of his latest project and I thought I would post some pictures here to see if anyone is interested. Basicly it's a Dboy's M4 that he has re-machined and converted into a Sun Project M4, the full spec are (don't forget these are all machined parts too) Steel 1pc valve with 3rd O Ring steel bolt steel shaft steel recoil spring adjustable hopup full steel trigger set spare rubbers (may have bolt lock function, will confirm later) His appox cost is US$850, which I think sound slike a great deal for a fully upgraded Sun Projects If anyone has any questions PM me and I'll get the answer from Justin for you, unless I can help. Catman
$850 for the full gun? That's not bad considering the parts listed and a proper flat top receiver. I think if he could get the price down a lot more he'd get a load of business I hope the bolt lock isn't like the fabled Escort one that never appeared (that was going to cost $200 and only worked with certain mags). Considering installed upgrades it could run way beyond forum limits with 0.25BBs at 150PSI - so you don't need to upgrade it to make speed higher.
Minds
How bout the magazine? is it still using the standard AEG mag or....a special mag?
kken
since it is based off a DBoys AEG, it will still use standard AEG mags.
Catman
Why not propose to give it to ppl for free? Yes Justin should give them out for free, in fact he should pay us to take them. He's got to make some money on it yet it's got to compete with the likes of WA's M4 (+ TKs up and coming M4) and normal SP M16's. A brand new SP M16 costs ~$500, people new to the classic scene will need to buy an air tank and regulator and all the time people will be comparing the price to AEGs and other GBB rifles. I know how good Justin's stuff is, I have most parts he makes in my SP. edit: regarding mags - the SP M16 took standard AEG mags, and the dboys certainly will

Plus $850 for a custom rifle, isn't so bad....and in the UK at least, this rifle is still cheaper than the WA GBB....at the moment.
kken
$850 for an entire working escort gun with all those upgrades SHIPPED from hong kong is almost a downright steal. plus like catman says, it's daytonagun... his work is TOP NOTCH. but your average joe airsofter is a cheap skate, thus they will never be satisfied. take a bone stock M16 escort for $500 and then add from AS4L's menu: $150 flat top conversion $20 multi position stock $200 steel bolt $60 recoil weight $25 adjustable hop up $25 third o ring $30 silver soldered valve so you're already up to $510 in upgrades that don't consider things like steel trigger set, barrel that takes 14 ccw flash hiders, etc etc. so for all that out of the box and it works for $850 shipped is a bargain and a half. IronWolf
Interesting, I'd assume one can supply other TM based M16 type AEG's as donors too (as long as they're full metal)?
Beast06
So the complete gun is available for $850? Interesting.
my_plague_666
this sounds very cool. definitely more affordable than escort. do you know if he has any plans to move onto conversions for other guns like AKs, G36s, M14s and the like?
BigAl
If your gonna spend all that money why not start with a decent base gun? Fancied something like this for years, too late know, gonna get a WA GBB instead.
Wupjak
Very nice. Justin's work is very, very good indeed. Looks like he's going to be very busy shortly.
happy.al
So the complete gun is available for $850? Interesting. Yes It's appox US$850 for a complete gun. I'm asking Justin about other bodies, but I don't see why not.
Dock trinE
I'd be very interested if he could do this with a VFC HK416.
Minds
just curious...where do you put the gas canister?
my_plague_666
just curious...where do you put the gas canister? in a pouch somewhere on your person... or i think you can have small CO2 canisters rigged to fit in the buffer tube.
Harvahammas
I'd be very interested if he could do this with a VFC HK416. x2! GBB hk416 ::drool
X Lupin
x2! GBB hk416 ::drool Escort makes HK416's from VFC bodies on a case-by-case basis. Austinwolv over at CA.org has one. http://www.classicairsoft.org/forum/viewto...f=50&t=9466 just curious...where do you put the gas canister? When I use my JAC M16, I put the Co2 tank in my buttpack, the line goes from the stock to the regulator on the Co2 tank in your buttpack.
lin_pointer
check his site on CA.net, hes got a promising fleet of machines. Now only if someone would do buisness with him on distributing, and other work. He could finnaly pick up the dead escort company's work. Im glad that someone could take the design because Escorts has been a failure in doing buisness! I hope they are trustworthy and the products looks very promising from those pictures. I do see some issues with AEG conversions as it does not have the same demensions. But at least someone is elevating classi airsoft markets. For those of you who wants Western Arms, you should think about ho much it will really cost, if you deide to upgrade body and others, it will cost alot, and the magazines are 150 each. good luck on skrimishes at a cold enviorment and worrie about the consistancy and low ammo. SP is designed to take aeg mags on a purpose, and a bottle of co2 can shoot 300o rounds.
lin_pointer
Its sad that Woodcocustom is comparing himself to datona..... I hope he took the aeg drop in kit design. or just develope the tech on more models like sigs and p90s, or a gbb mp7!
Sale
I wonder if Justin could make longer parts to fit into an SR25 receiver... -Sale

Austinwolv over at CA.org has one. http://www.classicairsoft.org/forum/viewto...f=50&t=9466 It would be correct to say that Escort have done guns on case-by-case basis. I have Escort HK416 GBB - and there is a video review about it along with review on this forum and CA.net. It's a good gun but has it's issues. Main of them - 0 Customer support from Escort. PS Waitnig for Justin to complete this project.

Fancied something like this for years, too late know, gonna get a WA GBB instead. i would imagine it's to keep the total cost of the gun down. you obviously don't need the internals so the quality of the gear box is irrelevant. you just need a decent metal bodied AEG. i'm not familiar with DBoys but having seen some of the more recent clonez like cyma'a AKM, doen'st look must different from the TM/CA stuff these days.
