If you do a lot of milsims or weekenders or outdoor sites with limited brew facilities, I can't recommend it enough. JETBOIL X1000 The very bestest investment for airsoft I have made as well. After seeing Dave's I had to have one There is nothing more satisfying than having a brew from nothing in 2 minutes. Then watching the none-jetboilers slave over a stove for 15 minutes trying to do the same And my 21 piece tool kit for £2. I've never had one that worked more than one evening... their piezo lighters are atrocious and for $50 less I can get an MSR titan kettle, MSR micro rocket, and fuel and be rocking a cook system that does the same thing, weights less than half the weight, and takes up less than 1/4 the space.... I do agree being able to cook at games is very nice!! I wanted to add the other best investment I've made was an LBT 1961G, most versatile chest rig I've ever owned. Link to post Share on other sites

But when I got my Micro rocket and titan kettle, I ditched it as it boils water just as fast plus smaller lighter ect. ect. That matters more to me, my base pack weight (no food or water) is roughly 8 lbs so every ounce makes a difference. Link to post Share on other sites

I totally forgot they existed, they just work and work damn well. Like many things in life, you pay a bit more money and things just last well. My Danner Fort Lewis boots are 14 years old, on their third set of soles and still warm, still waterproof. Sure they cost over £200 quid but that's 14 pounds a year which is less per year than my wife spends on *suitcase* brantano shoes. Reliable, quiet and the hop design is awesome. And my first ever pistol; second hand, TM Mk23 Socom. It's been mentioned before on this thread but after adding a VSR inner barrel and carbon fibre suppressor, it surprises everyone. TM 1911, been through more rounds than most AEGs before it suffered a fault, always works. TM M3 and SPAS shotguns, best QCB guns in existance, always work, always just work. TM AK47, decent range fine woodland gun, just keeps working. Actually everything TM that I've ever owned. In addition, every polymer holster I've ever had, RS FOBUS for my old KSC glocks, and even the chinese copy blackhawk for my 1911. TBH there is nothing a P* can do that a well tuned AEG can't, the difference is that you are buying it pre-setup so you don't have to tune it. I find it funny guys will spend $600+ on a FE, reg, and tank, but won't drop that same cash into an AEG mechbox... I really hate to say this but the inability of the P* to take LRBs and the complete lack of blow back really misses the point of utilizing a classic style system.... Link to post Share on other sites

The fact that I can mess with the volume of air going down the barrel, whether it operates as closed or open bolt, change the rate of fire etc etc (all in seconds via the FCU) means it is about the best thing out there for DMR's - and i've built plenty of AEG DMR's before going down the FE route. And what's an LRB got to do with it? You can't fit a Sheriff/Yahata style Long Range Barrel in an AEG anyways. Oh, and you do have to spend time tuning it to get the best results, and it's *nothing* like a classic airsoft system (speaking from the Asahi, JAC and FTC guns I used to mess around with) As to moisture, you just pop the FCU in a non-lubed condom and put a few zip ties around it to seal it up against the wires. frogfish Posted February 26, 2013 Report Share Posted February 26, 2013 You obviously never used an AS4L or Booster made LRB (sheriff LRBs are terrible untuned mass produced monstrosities) or a YE based GBBR... if so you'd know a P* is all the work of a classic without any of the fun. Adjustable ROF and trigger response time are all things modern FETs can control, so the only thing you have going for you is quick swap power settings, and even at that your range is limited by the same factors that limit a V2 AEG, you use the same hop-up mech. Don't get me wrong, they work just as well as anything else, but I don't get the rampant fanboyism they get. Even in a "condom" I've seen condensation destroy two fets, condensation happens when an object reaches a temperature high enough to cause water vapor to come out of the surrounding air, it can build up inside a protective casing. I'm more of a function over form guy, which is why the Polar* is on my list. If you really think that the benefit of the FCU is just down to adjustable ROF, trigger response times and quick swap power settings from the regulator then you really should have a play with one to see just what they're capable of As to condensation, i've not had a problem with any yet - and thats playing in some pretty *suitcasey* weather. Mind you, the FCU is in a condom and then in a sealed stock tube (O ring on the stock tube cap) and hot melt glue sealing the other end so there's little chance for moisture to get in there anyways.
