Does anyone have a truly specified team role

Officer.

No, seriously, I'm the guy who thinks he knows what's going on and shouts at everybody all the time. Once I'm done giving orders, I grab as many volunteers as I can and hurl myself headlong at whatever part of the enemy line I think is weakest. If the volunteers do their job, they take out the four to six guys who will typically give away their positions by lacing me up. If they aren't observant enough to see where the fire is coming from, they get laced up too and we have to do it all again thirty seconds later (or however long it takes to respawn).

Surak is one of my support gunners. He's only shot me in the back a couple of times- contrary to popular belief he does have some eyesight left.

When we get our fire-teams properly organised, we should have an Infantry section of Riflemen, a Support section of gunners & seconds and a Command section consisting of me, my Platoon Sgt and a couple of other guys who run about plugging the gaps up, giving orders and keeping everyone supplied with ammo. Maybe a sniper team or two as well.

Unfortunately, we don't have the space to play that way on most of the sites we fight at.

My favourite roles, though, are assault monkey, CQB specialist (fear the pistols) or sniper (and I do mean sniper, I have a very nice upgraded TM VSR-10 G-Spec). One of my favourite skirmishes ever I was playing spotter as part of a sniper team, and we stalked out opponents across over a quarter of a mile of woodland terrain, plinking members off here and there... so good, so satisfying, even if I wasn't getting many of the kills myself (I had an M14 for that game).

A lot of the time, though, I'm the Man With No Fear, the kind of guy who is constantly running from the spawn point into the thick of it and back again, shouting on my way to the front at anyone and anyone who will listen to follow me in.

Our team does use specific roles.

I'm the 'team leader' (read 'the person that talks people into suicidal charges'). I shout at the guys on my team alot, make stupid jokes to 'increase morale' and keeps a count of the teams 'score' over the day on a counter.

I'm also the team Armourer (I'm the only one that know how to play around with the weapons, plus I have the most); Tech, Weapons and Gear advisor and Sharpshooter.

I used to be the teams grenadier. I'd carry an M4 with an M203, 3 40mm grenades and about 10 frags. But I find that loosing the M203, 40mm grenades and only carrying 2 frags at a time means I cut down alot of bulk which means more mobility.

We also have an Automatic Rifleman (can't afford a proper support weapon yet), a pointman (the guy we don't like that gets to go in first), a grenadier (no m203 but like to go on mad runs towards enemy buildings to throw a frag through windows) and a few riflemen (can't decide where their skills lie)

I work as a spotter. I'm part of a two-man sniper-spotter team. I carry a G3SG/1 (custom built to my specifications upon a TM model) as a primary weapon, an USP .45 as a sidearm, and a pair of binoculars plus four grenades as a "spotter's kit."

As a team, my partner and I are tasked with one of three roles - recon, support, or rear guard.

In recon mode, we adhere to stealth and won't fire unless fired upon. Since I'm only wearing standard woodland camo, I usually take a backseat and cover my ghilli-suited partner as he creeps forward. We work to eliminate enemy officers and/or mapping out hostile positions. Any information we gather would be relayed back to the field HQ upon our return (radio silence through out the operation).

Since we are relatively lightly armed, we rarely join our forces in assaulting enemy positions. We remain in the shadows, keeping our collective flanks secure. This usually involves picking off small groups of infiltrators that are sent to exploit weaknesses. It's only when the *beep* really hits the fan do we both grab assault rifles and join the fray.

Rear guard duty is similar to support duty. Our job remains the elimination of the odd enemies our main force left behind. We need to make sure that none of them survives to link up with their friends and attempt a counterattack. I'm still armed with my weapons, but my partner at this point would most likely discard his M700 AICS in favor of either a Steyr-Mannlicher assault rifle or a Benelli shotgun.

we split our team into 2 diffrente units. 1 sniper, 1 support gunner, 3 rifle, and 1 grenadier per team. me, im a sniper using my pump action aps2. our support gunners use m60, saw's and an RPK. our other sniper has an mp001 for urban purpuses, and our riflemen/grenadiers have ur normal day to day armalites, scars, l85's and g36s.

I'm mildly close to a DM. Firstly, I am the best shot on my team, and then I carry a G3A3 with a 4X32 scope with adj. focus. I intend to purchase a bipod soon, but I have some other more important things to get first. I know the A3 isn't as good for the role as an SG1, but I can't afford the SG1.

For a side arm, I carry a G23 F with one spare mag.

EDIT: I'm also the team leader and lead as point (w/o scope) if I decide to move in such a formation.

I'm the team leader for Ghost TAC, the team that I founded. Meaning that I'm in charge of planning and logistics etc. (job that is mostly handed pre and post skirmish through our forum etc.). Additionally on the field I outline plans and stratagies and act as squad leader during games. This entails both verbal and non verbal (hand signal) communication with squad members, telling them where to go, where to watch etc. etc. This is not to make the job sound like a one man show, or that I have total control over my guys. They have a lot of freedom as far as moving and engaging the OpFor. I also (this seems to be a common thing in this thread) pump them up and help overall morale by extolling our sexyness and other morale building comments :P

Cheers!

I want a team :(

If i was one i would definatly either take up the recce/assault/TL/signaller role. I dnt like being at the back, i like to be in the *beep*. Dont like to sit back and watch my sunday fly by.

When i go by myself im always the one that spends 20 minutes flanking the enemy and coming right up behind them. This actually happened in a HUGE valley. And i ended up getting shot by both sides, but if i had had some teammates with me we would have ended the game right there.

team leader and sniper hunter. I carry an M14, with over 10 mags and scope and bipod. Yes its very DM but its one hell of a support gun. He, i like going against the flow. as for the team leader bit, i carry a radio and tell my squaddies were to go, and what to do. I also do tend to be the first one to yell 'FUDGE IT!' and run for the fort screaming.

I'm developing my skills as scout / recon role. I'm hoping to continue to develop my hunter / sniper skills. The team I'm part of is relatively new. I use a VSR G-Spec with an M3 scope, a G17 sidearm and a set of Binos. I've made my own guille which is a continuing work in progress. In CQB, I'm just another rifleman but don't play that role too often.

Good hunting

i dunno what you'd call my role i'm part of a 2 man team and if was to name it i'd call it the harrass and recon team

i've always owned and shot air rfiles since being a boy so i'm the best shot out of the 2 of us i used to use an M16 on single shot for the most part but have now gone for a vsr 10

what we basicly do is while the fire fight is going on we sneak past everyone and get behind the other team then if we can see an objective or find a large group of opposing team players we radio it in we DONT go for the objective instead we find a good hidden spot and take heads and harrass and annoy the opposing team as much as possible

believe it or not this works well as the opposition soon diverts part of its team to try and find you and flush you out this is where we ambush them my job is then to take shots at them as they advance towards us while my mate sneaks round the side and shoots them from behind so iguess my role is

recon/sniper/cannon fodder :D

I just shoot people. In games with other friends that I know well, I usually take the role of leader and set things up. In games with some other people that I'm not so familiar with (but still friends with), there are two people who usually take the initiative. To be honest, they're terrible tacticians and seem to spread our forces out, but it's not that big of a deal...
