I'm hardly a master of US Army internal structure.

Honestly, the name has Tom Clancy on it. I expect the eye to detail that Tom Clancy would use and has used. He isn't always right, but he almost always gets the big stuff right. And never as horribly wrong as Ubisoft has with GRAW2. Read Clear and Present Danger for examples of US Army personnel performing deniable ops on foreign soil: They use nothing to indicate that they are Americans but they are operating on their own, so they wouldn't need to wear Columbian military/police uniforms.

If this were a game like Black or if it didn't have the Clancy brand attached to it, it would be forgiveable, as the designers obviously wouldn't know any better. But, then again, I probably wouldn't have bought it right off the bat if it were anything but a Tom Clancy game.

Keep in mind that Clancey hasn't taken part in the game development of the Ghost Recon Series since the Orginal( Don't quite me though, I read that somewhere). ANd Ubisoft is more about making money/pleasing the masses than neing realistic.

Yep, that's true. He worked for a short time on one of the expansions for the original GR, and on the original Rainbow Six and expansions. None of the sequels are "officially" Clancy-approved.

The latest Rainbow Six is a great example of Ubisoft's milking of the Clancy name. GRAW 1 and 2, and Vegas are barely worth any gamers time if they want to play something true to their respective series.

Clancey HASN'T taken part in the development of the game but because his name on it we should expect that the accuracy will meet the same standards that his books do.

Perhaps he can revoke the right to use his name?

but then sales wouldn't be as good. hm...

OK, just got my set of MultiCam utilities off of SKDTac. For some reason, my utilities look a lot greener than I've seen MC look. It doesn't look to work well with my Desert Oakley SI boots. In fact, it doesn't look good (under artificial light) with any of my browns... not my Coyote Brown Magnums, not my CB CamelBak, not my khaki Hatch Operators (which I had 2 day'd just for the impression <_<). It doesn't look particularly good with my sage Hatch Flight gloves, either. But, it matches my khaki Phantom RRV perfectly, the Flat Dark Earth finish of my WA Kimber Desert Warrior, and the OD of my UnderArmor HeatGear hood. If I could find my Mechanix 4.0 HD gloves, I'd take a gander at that, too. With it's black and Danger Yellow coloration, it might just fit (since that would be completely unexpected, you see).

If my Mechanix gloves don't work, I might have to buy the Hatch Operators in OD.

To me OD kit with MC looks a bit garish anyway but USMC CB goes okay. We all know Multicam is "over-priced, over-here, and over the top" but I still like it. I loved it when nobody else had it of course but that's just the gear sob in me....

Where, or rather when, I have found it very effective in in the height summer and the undergrowth has browned or in the winter & the dominant ground cover is dead leaf litter. At those times the "slight hint" of green appears to me to give it an edge over straight forward arid climate or temperate camo.

I admit this is a very specific use of what was touted as a multi-region camo but I change my gear a lot to match the seasons. Also Many people have been misled by the hype about multicam being a multi-environment camouflage.

I've never thought that this meant it would be a superior pattern under all conditions, just that it would be serviceable in a wider range of situation than many contemporary patterns and to an extend I believe this is true.

Personally I like the cut of the R1 field uniform and still think this is better than anything else including a Raid BDU or the ACU, however none of them are perfect so I now alter every set of camo I buy to suit my needs.

*Twiddles thumbs waiting from SpecAm*

:)

Yes the "old skool" Ghost Recon games were the ######s. I didn't find GR:AW especially interesing and the Conflict series is a much more satisfiting & challenging game. Yeah I even have a space in my heart for the Vietman one.

Just took a look at GR2SS last night. Both the Hatch Operator gloves in tan (used by Nick Salvatore and others) and the Safariland 6004 (Alicia Diaz and others) are Ghost-approved. I also looked at GR2 and, apparently, MultiCam is in it: It's used by Capt. Mitchell for the IWS tests. I think that it might not be MC in game, but it is definately MC in the 'suppliers' section... look under Oakley.

I think that MC will work fairly well for me. I bought it because here in Montana, you have everything from lush, green areas, to arid deserts... not to mention the differences between walking through a wheat field in early Summer and then walking through the same field right before harvest. In any case, I just got sick of having to change camouflage every game. So I've pretty much settled on MultiCam and a Ghost impression (which I like to call my 'Force Recon Advanced Warfighter' load-out, since quite a bit is based off of what the FR/MARSOC uses).

For my current impression:

-M14 SOCOM

-WA Kimber Desert Warrior (w/ Surefire X200B)

-SKDTac MC EBDU trousers and MC EBDU-C shirt

-Phantom RRV (khaki) w/ 2x Phantom M14 mag pouches, Phantom GP pouch, Phantom Admin pouch (w/ subdued US flag)

-USGI web pistol belt

-Maxpedition dump pouch

-Hatch Operator gloves (tan)

-Oakley SI Assault boots (tan)

-Eagle/Buffertech USGI three-point sling for EBR

-CB Camelbak Thermobak 3L

-OD/black shemagh

-OD UnderArmor HeatGear hood

-FG ESS Striker goggles

Waiting for:

-Safariland 6004 (Flat Dark Earth) for 1911 w/ Surefire X200

-G&P MK14 Mod 0 EBR (sand, short) conversion kit

-Blackwater pistol lanyard

-MC SEALS Action Gear 4.0 boonie hat

-Rx lenses for ESS ICE 2.4 insert

Saving for:

-Gemtech pistol lanyard (which will probably be reserved for my RS Desert Warrior)

-Black duty belt

-CB .45 single stack pistol mag pouches

-CB Eagle RRV (if I can find one <_<)

-CB DBT SR25 mag pouches

-CB MLCS pack (again, if I can find one. Only seen them in khaki)

-Devgru Swimmer headset

-Motorola Talk-about radio

-MC Eagle tactical ball cap

-Replica MICH-2002 w/ MC cover

-CA SCAR-L (tan) (since it's nice having everyone use the same mags... and when I don't feel like sitting in the back taking potshots at the baddies. Possibly for medic bodyguard duties, as well)

With my Pakol and Mechanix gloves, I may try a more 'mercenary' or SEAL/SBS look. Especially once/if I get the CA SCAR.

The main problem I have found with Ghost Loadouts is , if you use woodland , and people have not played the game , they think your a SEAL wannabe who doesn't know their gear. I may have to buy a Ghost Patch... Oh, how is the RRV? I am thinking of getting one in OD for my Woodland Ghost impression, along with a MBSS Hydration pack. Unless I could find a damn CIRAS... Oh, on a side note, what CIRAS would a Ghost use? Land correct? I'm contemplating getting Multicam aswell. Is your Multicam so green that OD would work with it? Eh, then I have just got to get a new 'Ghost Approved Weapon'. Now , with the SCAR and the M468. Do you have any idea how that will work with the look? Sorry for the questions and thanks for the answers.

PS: Awwesome loadout by the way. DO you have any pics?

Okay I need help, I just got soem replica Multicam off ebay ive got the full BDU seta nd a boonie. Now all my OD chest rigs are much too dark to run with it. I cuess I could run my Alice rig with it or a woodland ELBV but that will probably look funny. What is a cheap alternative? I mean cheap no more than $45 shipped in the US....some kinda of CB rig im assuming?

Weapon will be Modded XM8 either my shorty

Hehe, I don't believe any military uses Multicam , unless you count some guys in Blackwater. And, US SOCOM is trying out the SCAR. So, if he has a pair of Woodland he may be able to pull off a SEAL look, which he could already pull off, considering he has a M14 SOCOM.

On a side note; Can anyone point me in the direction of a CIRAS? Pweash?

Ghosts use OD and WL and MC with MultiCam, not Coyote Brown (if you're doing a GRAW2-esque load-out, you can use BHI Coyote Tan, though). If you want to make it more multiplayer-ish, you can get khaki gear, but that's mostly limited to multiplayer.

Boots can be of nearly any type one prefers. Even in Tri-color and MultiCam, it probably wouldn't be uncommon to see Ghosts wearing old-fashioned US Army or Marine Corps-type black boots. However, far more popular would be the various non-issue boots such as Converse Tactical boots and Oakley SI Assault boots. Bellvilles and Altamas would likely also be popular, but nearly all military and military-style footgear is acceptable.

just to pick at this because i am bored. converse tactials, oakly si's bellvilles, altimas, and blackhawk warriorwear boots are all standard issue, just depends on the budget and location of your squadron/unit.

Both would be fine.

And my PM box is full because I'm too lazy to empty it and my internship with the county just got more interesting (as in, a shitton of homework in preparation for working with P&P officers). I'll probably go in and just clear the whole damned thing out, though in a couple of minutes.
