Didn't you know? All SAS soldiers must eventually become overweight, opinionated airsofters. Strange but true. In fact, some of these guys are so hardcore that they manage to get into the SAS, kill a few hundred Taliban, and get out the other side before their 13th birthday. Truly remarkable people... EDIT: done some recent training with some EX sas blokes for a day got a good insight into there skills He spent a day with some people that used to be in the SAS. However, I spend every day on Arnies with at least 300 people who apparently used to be in the SAS. I win. Link to post Share on other sites

Why not, could have met one or two being on various camps for training, TA can do everything the Regulars do they just have a 9-5 as well....or are you guys sugesting that all UK reserve forces are no better than the cadets? Leadmill Posted December 18, 2007 Report Share Posted December 18, 2007 I had a friend I LUOTC and some of his instruction on his annual camp was done by a couple of chaps visiting from 23 SAS, my lot used to have talks from chaps from 23 once every few months, normally about recruitment choices etc. I don't see why everyone is up in arms over meeting someone from the SAS they aren't mythical beasts you know. Everyone is "up in arms" at his claim to have some sort of mythical expertise when it comes to an Afghan SBS loadout because he spent a day with some blokes that used to be in the SAS. kie Posted December 18, 2007 Report Share Posted December 18, 2007 Also Boar yes if we did believe every short bald fat guy in the pub who claims to be ex-SAS then it would be very apparent that the regiment isn’t all its cracked up to be. Leadmill's right i was surprised when i had the "honour" of observing and briefly meeting on one occasion the SAS they just seem like normal quiet well mannered guys. Nothing special or distinctive about them (except the long hair and occasional beard). And i don’t really agree with idolising the SAS as celebrities, there just soldiers who are damn good at there job at the end of the day, they aren’t doing it for fame or glory. there doing it for personal gain to be the best they can be. what i want to make clear to everyone there isn’t no "specific" loadout for SAS there not uniformed there professionals who don’t run around concentrating on appearance. its obvious that the British SAS specialise in there skills, not there kit making them one of the most elite fighting forces possibly in the whole world. aslong as you can suport a lodout with evidence that it supports who ever its based on you cant go wrong thats for everyone. at the end of the day just like the SAS its personal preference. but its the little details that make the difference to show what your aiming to recreate. Very nice quiet guys, so quiet that i thought one of the guys was in a logistics unit and didnt find out he was SAS until after I'd left the army and he came to visit me while i was recovering from my injury. I'd met him randomly through a freind of a friend and he'd helped me through pre-RCB and RCB. Very capable and nice guy, very quiet though. Not your stereotypical image at all, in fact none of his lot i later met were at all 'warry'. Link to post Share on other sites
starburst Posted December 19, 2007 Report Share Posted December 19, 2007 Thats the thing about any UK based look, none of them are very special compared to the more popular US ones which each unit seems to have their own distinctive 'look' its all about making the setup your own. Id just base a loadout on any pictures you see if you like them and add kit you like to it...no need to carbon copy them Link to post Share on other sites

His rules to the company: "if its green,* it works and you dont look stupid** you can wear it" Pretty much SAS policy. * by 'green' he meant dpm or dpm like camouflage patterns or olives or tans... not strictly 'green'. ** He actually said something along the lines of not looking like female genitalia....
