So to translate the legalese:

Some retailers may be selling counterfeit STAR products at prices lower than the real thing.

Has anyone personally seen this on the websites of any retailers?

gunner... thats what started this mess, because they were selling the L85s at about $300

This is really going to screw things up for Gunner's recent offerings of the AMP DSR-1, M200, and PGM sniper rifles, as all of those are actually made by STAR using a fake company name "ARES" to try and cover their asses.

This will be interesting to watch.

You mean as opposed to the one or two that start with M?

I was about to say that

Also i was hoping for a warning along the lines of

'Warning! STAR products are *suitcase* and pose a risk of breaking, falling apart and servere failure within minutes of purchase. We advise against the buying of STAR products and advice buissness with real companies instead.'

:P

I think it's very weird.

Some guy posted feedback on Gunner'site saying that his M4 has a too short carry handle, and we all know that was an issue on Star's firsts Armalites.

So maybe Gunner put his hand on a forbidden sotck abandonned when the went to new series. But it's very hard to think that they were counterfeits

EDIT: Gunner juste renammed his products "Ares", that's weird

Correct me if am worng but "Ares" make that new sniper rifle right the DSR-01 or DMR-01? The bulp-up sniper rifle, so if there's slightly off AEG's wouldn't that company be upset?

Also anyone heard from Gunner to see if something can be confirmed about this, don't buy from him myself but he has always come across as honest person who will answer any questions you could have.

Oh FFS.

STAR = ARES. ARES = STAR.

STAR are saying that Gunner is selling STAR products and claiming to be a STAR retailer - when they claim he isn't. I don't know which side of the story to believe there.

THERE ARE NOT STAR CLONES OUT. THE STAR PRODUCTS THAT GUNNER SELLS ARE REAL STAR PRODUCTS.

I suspect that STAR are pissy that Gunner is selling their stuff so cheap and forcing the other retailers to lower their prices also.

After re-reading Star's letter, I think I know what this is about, no matter how many caps Darklite uses:

The Stars gunner has been selling as of late could not be Stars, but neither be Stars clones. They could be AEGs built for Star or by Star's designs, but not sold by Star.

Here's my theory:

Star is believed to have created or contracted Ares to get around trademark issues with the DSR-1. Maybe this company already existed and was already making products for Star.

This happens in any industry, also airsoft. Ever found the same gears in AEGs from different brands? They buy them from the same company. Some companies dont even build a single part of their own products: they design them and look for different factories to make their parts and one to assemble them. Specialization.

But this company is not totally under Star's controll and have started making Star products without their permission (like Star orders 500 Mk43s and they make 600 and sell the 100 excess on their own).

This has in fact happened in many industry branches. The first Hurricane Eotech replicas were made by a chinese company specialised in optics of all kind; they made scopes and red dots for Hurricane, G&P aswell as real steel companies. One day they decided to sell the Eotechs on their own and Hurricane got pretty scared, but finally they didnt loose too much apparentely.

Star then gets wind that their child company or subcontracted company is doing that and gets pretty ######.

Still doesn't answer the fact of why STAR's Ares what ever products are going for a lower price at gunners first. Some knickers in a twist on here today. Remeber this is the internet where people ask questions and speculate not go out the way to try and belittle people for posting a question.

Its one thing I don't like on here somtimes its how people can easily fly off the handle, I have been guilty of it too and cringe at some of my previous posts.

Sorry if I came over as rude, not my intention at all. My partial agresiveness may be in response to Darklite belittleling of the Star=Ares theory sceptics.

If my Star/Ares theory is true, explanation for Gunner's prices would be simple:

- This company may have simply made an exclusive deal with Gunner. In fact, it may even have been Gunner who convinced them to start making Star products without Star approving or getting any cut

- Other Star products selling retailers, like wgc, RW or UNC may not lower their prices because they may still continue to sell genuine, authorised Star products. This could either be due to ethics, fear of Star or just because Ares has an exclusive deal with Gunner.

- Note how the letter claims that only Gunner and QRF are selling non-Star products claiming to be Star's. They are not saying that there's a a company cloning Star's products and posing as Star in front of the retailers.

When I asked Gunner about this low price craze right after it started, he told me Star had decided to change their prices and distribution policies and that he wa in direct contact, thus why he could inmediately offer the new prices, versus other retailers who were still bond to the old prices set by Star's distributors.

Actually it was aimed at the hole STAR IS ARES thing, its that type of thing that gets on my nerves, how do you find something out if not by asking.

Sorry if it came across at having a go at your post it wasn't, it was aimed at the quick to have a go posts that pop up now and again. Not posts that simply disagree or ask for further information.
