The VW w12 engine is essentially two of the narrow angle V6 engines from the VW Golf 2.8l 4motion that has been bored out to 3.0l and joined to another to create a 6.0l W12 engine that is also used in the Bentley Continental GT only with some superchargers added to give 600hp. note: one of the things stipulated by the VW boss was that the phaetons bonnet/hood had to stay flat and not bend all the way up to 200 mph.
