kodiak22
I thought the IAR fired from an open bolt? Not the HK. The IARs that had open bolt were LWRCI, FN USA, and Colt( while i believe the other was closed bolt only). I cant believe I'm actually saying this, but i was pulling for Colt to get it. Seraphim989
Well I feel really dumb, I didnt know they were all called the IAR. At least being made by H&K means it will be pretty good quality
Agent Hunk
Wonder if they are gonna stick with the odd Norweigien style grip. I've heard from a few former and current Marines that the have been "dealing with" the M249 since its induction.
db_pepsi
I really thought the LWRC would've came on top as well. But I'm guessing one reason they went with the closed bolt HK IAR was, well because it was had a closed bolt system? Look on the bright side, atleast us airsofter can have an easier time rebuilding the rifle.
Speed=
The Corps should use the 240 on the fireteam level. Hell, on the rifleman level. lol, I'm just pullin ya'lls legs.
kodiak22
yea its HK which is nice, but all it is, is a bone stock Hk416 with a 16.5" barrel.
shadownova
Every Marine regardless of MOS should have an M2 .50cal as their service rifle and an M240G as their sidearm.

Adiventure
Every Marine regardless of MOS should have an M2 .50cal as their service rifle and an M240G as their sidearm. And a Javelin in place of a knife. anyone going to do the loadout?
KWP
yea its HK which is nice, but all it is, is a bone stock Hk416 with a 16.5" barrel. Could the IAR be a replacement for not just the SAW but also the M4/M16?
kodiak22
Could the IAR be a replacement for not just the SAW but also the M4/M16? it could be but they are still saying its not even going to replace the SAW altogether but supplement it. Plus last i heard they were working with the army on there "next gen carbine" competition requirements. plus i dont see then going from the rifle to a carbine anytime soon. Agent Hunk
Doubt it. Things didn't go too well last time everyone had an issued automatic weapon.
kodiak22
This is quoted from a guy on another forum who says he just got off the phone with the President of HK when he wrote this. The IAR differs from a "typical" 416 in the following ways: lug compatible with USMC bayonet various GFE equipment like sights, grip pod, and sling attachments Action, piston, upper & lower receivers are all standard. The barrel is a 16.5" version of their normal profile. ....

KALASH69
Im baffled as to why the Corps would choose that over the LWRC... Also, got my Gentex LWH chinstrap, it's awesome! Just have to wait for my helmet.

Speed=
I was reading up on the requirements on the IAR. Apparently they wanted a SAW like rate of fire and the FN models couldn't provide that in testing.
masakarijoe
good idea with a 30 round magazine... or a flimsy, bulky large capacity magazine... :/ -Joe

kodiak22
what did i say about MCtimes/military times: MCtimes changed the name of the article: http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/2009/...update_120309w/ and Military Times had an update on the IAR: http://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/2...-is-not-a-lock/ I guess that is could be good though, there may still be some hope. Now all we need to do is take care of the Mag problem........ * cough cough Magpul cough cough*
Jagdraben
Stupid question: Name tape, where can find? Also: On the Corps getting/being Gucci... they also have a contract with Mystery Ranch, here, for packs. So, yes, they are getting Gucci.
