beretta
You have to remove the rear sight, ( a single allen key on top.) Then theres 4 little screws under that and the front sling mount to remove. with that done the sight will come away with its base plate. that screws off and you'll put that bit back on the gun. -=OGGY=-
It sounds like all you need to finish the gun off is this guy right here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ITL-MARS-Laser-Aiming-...=item4a9c796f39 Edited November 28, 2009 by -=OGGY=-

The Reptile House
So you'll be ordering two then, Panoptes?
Shinden
Haha Oggy, so that will solve all parralax problems, the dim laser problem, the lens problem, all by just buying the real deal! Which of course some of us will be bidding on that shortly...
-=OGGY=-
I know I would be if I had some extra cash. I'm actually after one to put on an M4 for a USMC kit. Â Hopefully the TSI MARS will be nice (although it's unlikley after seeing the reveiw of their TAR ).
uscmCorps
Has anyone bought the Tan Ares Tavor yet?
Shinden
I was going to buy the Tan Tavor however I noticed the shortage of the black model so I went with that. The Tan model apparently has the longer inner barrel, but I don't know by how much. A sales rep told me the Tan version shoots way better and he likes it over the black model. The problem for me was I never saw a real steel Tan Tavor.

Panoptes
Im using a Madbull python barrel, it hasnt arrived yet though. Â I added a barrel extension to make it look less short and chunky too, Â I've been looking at the extension you suggested and it's 190mm. I've the feeling that will be too long. I estimate the extension (from the end of the foregrip) to be around 120mm - any thoughts?
The Reptile House
A sales rep told me the Tan version shoots way better and he likes it over the black model. The problem for me was I never saw a real steel Tan Tavor. Â It'll be interesting to see if the TAR (tan one) shoots better due to the longer inner barrel, or because they've fixed some of the internal issues people have highlighted in the CTAR (e.g. leaky air nozzle). Â I was surprised to see that the TAR is cheaper than the CTAR; we still have to pay more for the CTAR, presumably for the pleasure of owning the Ares MARS. What with the TAR having longer outer and inner barrels and a couple of rails, I'd have thought they'd have priced it the same as the CTAR - but it's $50 cheaper. Â Good on Ares, I say. Â I've also noticed a shortage of the CTAR version - a couple of places are sold out (e.g. Redwolf), but I thought there may have been a run on it, after the true horror of the TSI became apparent. Shinden
I am more inclined to believe the inner and outer barrel is just longer on the TAN ver, but I'm still unaware of any internal changes. I am getting a new model of the CTAR (not 1st batch), so hopefully there will be some changes made internally.
The Reptile House
I suspect my CTAR is first batch, but really, anything is better than the TSI.
Panoptes
I suspect my CTAR is first batch, but really, anything is better than the TSI. ^ I've a hunch ours are 2nd.
Shinden
Most likley anyone who ordered a CTAR and is on pre-order status should be getting a newer batch. I hope there will be some revisions done, but I'm not optimistic so I'll just expect the same thing as 1st batch models.

The Reptile House
Has anyone bought the Tan Ares Tavor yet? Â Just noticed these are $385 at Redwolf! Edited December 1, 2009 by The Reptile House

Victory
I quite like the tan TAR-21, myself. Â Slap a FDE EOTech 553 on there, and call it a day. Â Edit: And a Scout light might look good on the rail system, too...hmm... Â -Vic Edited December 2, 2009 by Victory
beretta
The pics aren't great, but if its flatter and darker than in the redwolf pics id be all over one. Something along the lines of the Magpul tan plastics finish.
The Saint
The pics aren't great, but if its flatter and darker than in the redwolf pics id be all over one. Â It's TAR21 Dark Earth, not Tan. The RW picture is significantly lighter than the actual gun.
Panoptes
Still hideous, IMO. Â Â
The Reptile House
I like it in Dark Earth - it's different. If it wasn't for the longer barrel, I'd have waited for this one over the black CTAR. Â I particularly like not having to pay extra for the MARS on this version and at $385 it's a steal.
