Baddbaz, thanks for the help!

You've talked me out of it after all that, which probably has saved me a load of hassle. I shall look for a clean one now...

And probably end up with a diesel passat :P

What kinda thing you thinking? Modern or retro? The grips I got from Mike are really nice - Kinda hard but soft rubber wraparounds with Delta Elite logos, not bad for £15.

Unless you want some NightWarrior grips, which these'll be replacing?

I did wonder how those Delta grips fitted. Might be an idea to get some now then when the TM Nickel Series 70 is out combine the two for a two tone look with those grips (one can dream).

As for the Night Warrior grips I find them a bit chunky, I like my weapons slim and tall, like my ladies :P.

I believe that's known as The Magpie Response.

Just be glad it isn't the Middle Aged Crisis or they would have bought a Porsche, moar gunz and some viagra to go with it ;).

Could of been worse . Could have been a nightmare , and you brought a just BB guns l85 springer ! At least you wouldn't need the glow in the dark paint then ....

Oddly that sort of happened to me. I actually dreamt I bought a new 1911 from Zero One and when it turned up they had done the worst two tone job ever on it. This was actually my dream .

The Delta grips are actually really nice - Solid, but squishy (innuendo, etc) and not particularly thick. They also look really nice and they're a nice texture, plus the wraparound on the front prevents the checkering from abrading my soft desk hands :P

they need more wood. a 1911 isnt really a 1911 without wood.

on a side note, my smile came from the fact that my MAG Mids now work in my UAR :D

I and my 1911s have enough wood :P. I think I can get away with the grips on mine though. Mostly the A1 grips, but their is a set of the digi-camo Foliage Warrior ones, not as they look nice but because they feel good.

sacked mine for the green and black wooden ones ^_^

The real sword mids fit the f2000 with no mods . Should fit the UAr as well , as they have similar problems

not paying those prices for em baz. not for 30 seconds with a file.

So I got some random junk for my photoshoot getups, which may actually be useful if we ever get to doing any filmsim/LARP weekender (too many walts over here and part of them has already moved to UK, feel warned ;) ). Sure, the "CYBER NINJA SWORD" is as dull as a politician, handle is made out of something that was most probably a drawstring for trackies, a vinyl door curtain strip and cardboard and the sheath is a mistake, but at least I have something to do and the only problematic part would be a kydex sheet that is two feet wide.

Also, my new CPU is working fine.

I do like wood grips, but only on classic 1911's, or nice Springfields etc - Both my (well, I'm still waiting on the GRP) are kinda modern combat stylee, so I prefer synthetics.

Yay for working mags!

I must admit fancy wood grips don't do it for me. I like my 1911s lookin a bit classic a military. Hence why my 1911s are black with faux wood and the odd little stainless bits :P.

Agreed, I went there years ago and would love to go back

On a related note I did spend yesterday afternoon at the RAF museum in Hendon. Had to leave early as the little one was getting restless but it was still a good day out. It's also free entry which is always a bonus

Oh, you twisted my arm!

I went as an astronaut, loosely based on the apollo era. Will add pics in a sec with a cheeky edit, need to upload them to photobucket first!

Edit, pics!

The suit I am happy with, was around £3 for a white boiler suit on ebay. i originally got it for a snow ghillie for airsoft! The hose connectors are plastic tank connectors from B&Q, with metallic spray paint. Mission patches are fabric glued onto paper and run through a normal inkjet printer. Neck ring was from plastic buckets from B&Q I got free. They were used to hold chain in, and I asked for a couple of empty ones. Blue fabric (and a lot of the white) was bed linen from tesco. Cheaper then buying by the yard at hobbycraft.

I ran out of time for the helmet. Was going to vac form one, fibreglass helm itself, and vac form the 2 visors (gold and clear). Got the acrylic for it and fibreglass, but as said, ran out of time...

So, bought 2 six quid bins from wilkinsons, glued/fibreglassed the 2 dome tops together, cut the face out, epoxied the 2 inner rolling lids together and sprayed them gold. Can't see through it, but looks ok for 3 hours work. I will come back to it, as I want it to be a lot better. I glued white fabric to the outside to alter the spherical shape, and to mimic the original a bit, but it was a rush job to get it done for that night.

Gloves were 99p on eBay, I stitched gauntlets onto them. Boots were also 99p on eBay, they are snow boots.

Also, my mission patch is from apollo 18, as I like the film, and my surname is on it!

All in, including paint, it cost around £40 to make I think, but took some time. Hot glue was my friend!

I also made a roman soldier outfit for the last one I went to, including handmade steel chest armour...

Damn that is a fantastic looking costume. And 90% of that is due to it being home-made.

For Halloween and fancy dress me and the better half go as 1920's-1930's era gangster and cabaret girl. Too bad I can't find the pics taken of us from the bars website that we were at :P.

As for me, sod work I have breakfast to consume:
