Helmet Pictures Thread - part II

Recommended Posts

much neat. What techniques did you use?

The sand paper one. :D

Over the years I painted it different colors. Then one day I decided on another finish, and covered it with a kind of "paste" usually used to make basis for miniatures (that: http://www.prince-august.net/details.php?pid=1313), then painted over it.

Here was the result:

So... sand paper, alcohol, sand paper, etc... And since I wasn't able to remove everything, it now looks that way.

Cheers. I'm surprised they haven't done a full mesh type to the outline of the Iron Man helmet silhouette.  That would look pretty cool I would have thought.

They sort of did hence "IM Style" as in Iron Man and the original one by Brass Guard was called "Stark". Other than the added ear cups, it just doesn't seem too apparent in black which is why I chose it (looks more like a space helmet). You can clearly see the Iron Man face on the lighter colored ones.

Yeah.  I figured IM was for Iron Man.  It just looks like there is scope for it to be slimmed down a bit but then I guess you would run into the issue of requiring different sizes whereas that is a one size fits all.

Speaking of. Can someone recommend nice, night, fluffy and comfy upgrade inner padding for such a helmet?

The ones included are not terrible but I can see it getting tiresome after a few hours on my head.

Dammit Chris I thought we'd been through this.

They don't go on your head normally. The only time you put them on your head is when you're assembling Swedish flat pack, and that shouldn't be for longer than an hour or you'll get excitement overdose. All other times they are to be kept aside to look badass as they are.

Hahaha :D

That would be something, assembling an IKEA furniture with a tacticool helmet on. Lights off and only the helmet LED to guide you :D

I wish I could be one of those bad asses with just a pair of slim protective glasses on but I am too much of a wuss to take BBs to the face :P

Siavash, I assume you have real helmets, and by that it also implies that those pads are relatively expensive ? :o

(Did not Google yet.)

OK Googled it, not too bad. But more suggestions are welcome :)

I have One real Mich but skydex pads are best. Around $80 but they are comfy and moisture wicking. This is based on wearing a helmet for 11 years and still going well. You can buy them all over ebay..have a look..
