Milla
I got to drive a Phaeton once, it was ok. Definatly wouldnt spend that much on a volkswagen, if i was going to spend damn near 100,000 on a car it wouldnt be a volkswagen. Especially the 2 we got at our dealership, ones trunk wouldnt close, and the other one had a transmission problem.
evilhippy
German efficiency eh? My brother always says its bloody handy being a VW/SEAT tech as they inevitably break down and keep him gainfully employed

enzo100
Meh I'd take my dads 06 A8L over a Phaeton anyday.

Moriquende
My Volvo 242 GT -79 race car, soon to be turned into a street car. The engine has been blueprinted and fitted with a sport exhaust. It pumps out 140hp on the wheels, It's also 200 kg lighter than the stock 242. Â Â Some enterior pics: Â Look! Steering wheel on the right side! Â Â The cute little B23 with mechanical injection

evilhippy
No idea what engine the Phaeton has, generally speaking, I honestly could not care less for cars myself but the story behind the glass factory was intriguing. Plus it is impressively large, like the size of the smaller-to-middling bentleys or the larger mercs. Â Person I am jealous of is the git who drove into our yard in a DB9 last year. Absolute top of the range, well over a quarter million quid. Looked quite nice
screamin_weasel
i didn't know that was where YOU worked dude - i would have popped in if i knew, we could have gone for a spin.
evilhippy
Dude I would be on the train to Norfolk if I thought you had a DB9. As much as cars don't tickle me like they do most people I would happily take entire decades out of my life to drive around in a DB9.
Zero_DgZ
You people and your stupid nice cars. Â Grr.

evilhippy
At least I paid for my own ride mysel.... actually no, those AM 360s were my birthday present this year weren't they? Â I refuse to have loans for anything less than a mortgage or buying a directorship in the business, so I guess I'll be a pedestrian for a little while yet!! Â What exactly is an A8L anyway? I'm guessing a huuuuge prestige car worh a quarter-mill or something... Don't tell me, its back in this thread somewhere

Also, Audi and VW are both pieces of ######. They understeer and we're ain't talking a little bit of understeer  Edit: And no, they're not up there with BMW, Volvo and Mercedes(probably forgot a few). donnie
Evilhippy will be able to correct me if Im wrong but I think the Phaeton internally poos on most cars? Dont know enough about its performance to comment...
Moriquende
Well, this isn't a discussion for a picture thread(even though I started it).
evilhippy
I think with a starting price of £60,000, being handbuilt by a bunch of industrious Germans (much like the ones that build Mercs and BMWs I'm sure) and having probably the most qualified and fastest climbing VW specialist mechanic as personal technician, then yeah, I'm betting it runs OK  I'm pretty sure the Phaeton is one of the best made cars you can get for the price tag, it is handbuilt, not production line toss like the regular VWs All I know is that its a W12 engine (wtf?) with just over 440 horsepower, whatever that means in relation to anything else  Actually to be honest I haven't a clue - I don't drive and don't even want to drive, but surely VWs aren't that bad, are they? Fords are the worst, surely? I mean thats what it stands for ain't it:  Fixed Or Repaired Daily

A double V engine is more or less a straight cylinder engine with the cylinders arranged like this: http://www.lpg-autoconversions.co.uk/galler4.jpg There are several different variations of this.
