Brigg
Hah, On my mill vise after a few hours of work =D I ground the fence off a WE A1 lower and reprofiled the mag well (Though that was by hand). Also I machined the duckbill flash hider, and takedown pins from bar stock. The hopup and barrel were machined down, the FCG notched out, and the hopup clipped, drilled and pinned so that everything fit in an unmodified RS upper. been a bunch of work so far. today I finished the 601 "flat" bolt catch too. Still an ongoing project though. I work on it when I have time and interest. Edited March 15, 2016 by Brigg
CaptCalvin
Wow, after all that I'd imagine most of the work is already done. From what I can tell all that is slick side bolt carrier, A1 stock, triangle charging handle, and maybe a thinner barrel can't really tell... Cake walk compared to what you'd already done. vietnammarine
After lots of waiting and designing and machining, I've finally made progress on my WE Colt 601 build. Still a bit left to do though. . That looks outstanding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NonEx
I don't like that look / model myself but much respect for the nice work and dedication on your project
Brigg
Figured I'd put this here too. I tried looking for duckbill flash hiders for a while but it seems like no one makes them. So I made my own. Im not sure if its the only one out there, but i imagine there aren't too many. Still needs better paint though. Edut: Also the paint is getting done now. Originally it was painted with Aervoe OD 34087. that was way too light, like how the stock here is: The rest of the furniture is now painted with Tamiya TS-2 Dark Green. Apparently as close a match as youre likely to get to the glossier green 601 furniture. Im still waiting for the early swivel type stock to show up before I waste more paint, so for now Im leaving the A2 stock on it. And now I'm debating whether or not it's worth it to machine an original type BCG without the forward assist grooves. That might be a bit beyond my ability right now, but it might be worth trying. CaptCalvin
After what you'd done on the receiver and the flash hider I'd love to see what you can come up with in terms of machining out a BCG. But if it were me I'd take the easy way out and just fill the grooves up with say maybe gbweld, sand it and refinish. Also if you're looking for a triangle charging handle try http://www.nodakspud.com/AR%20Lowers.htm It's sold out right now. Not sure when the next production run will be. Also not sure if it'll help but you might also want to take a look at the pivot pin they got on there Edited March 16, 2016 by CaptCalvin
Brigg
Just wanna put this here, my latest custom WE AR. I dont wanna go into too much detail since I already have a thread on it, but yeah. Boom, Colt 9mm smg. takes kwc mini uzi mags. This is the reason I love WEs over every other airsoft AR platform. you can do *anything* with a WE.

Brigg
i machined a custom loading nozzle. Along with a bunch of other parts.
CaptCalvin
Well with that kinda skill and resources you can practically do anything with any GBB AR platform.
Brigg
well, since the we fits a RS upper that made my life a lot easier. And the fcg sitting in its own box makes it so much easier to modify. I think any other system wouldve taken a load more work. Edited July 4, 2016 by Brigg
CaptCalvin
Well plenty of systems take RS uppers these days. But good point on the trigger pack.

Batmause
Cheap aluminium nozzle from AirsoftPro, any info about this? http://airsoftpro.cz/en/gun-parts-upgrade/gas-pistols-parts/for-we-m4/kovova-cnc-nabijeci-tryska-pro-we-m4-416-gbb-detail?limitstart=0&limit=int&showall=1

Brigg
Dunno where else I would put this so I figure this thread is the best place. Heres a shooting demonstration for the final version of my WE M4 kwc uzi mag conversion. A Colt DOE carbine. still essntially the same as the old 9mm build but much shorter, and with some tweaked intnerals that work a lot better. The only thing I may consider doing now is making a BCG from 7075 aluminum to see if I can get more gas efficientcy out of it. right now its only slightly more efficient then the KWC uzi is. It can get about a mag and a half from one c02 capsule. Edited June 18, 2017 by Brigg
Dimitri MdP
Outstanding conversion!! Not a fan from UZI mags. At all. But the conversion job is nothing short of amazing.
Wooly_Booly
Hey all, got some great news.Wii Tech is planning on potentially producing new parts, most notably a steel trigger assembly sometime in the next few months. Edit: So I'm gathering info on how many people would be interested in getting a set for them. Would anyone be interested? Edited February 5, 2018 by Wooly_Booly
Dimitri MdP
hmm mixed feellings with that one. While I love what WII Tech has done for the WE AK platform (still lacking a valve locker, for whatever reason), I believe WE internals on the AR platform are durable enough, specially anything produced in the recent years. So... are they needed? probably not. Still might get some just because the outstanding WII quality
MODDAN
I've got a question for the hive-mind, since I have failed to ascertain the information myself: Just purchased a RA-Tech barrel for my open-bolt WE M4, and since it's RA-Tech the barrel is bridged on the end meant for the hop-up housing: http://en.ratech.com.tw/english/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=116:rag-we-035&catid=27:ra-gas-series&Itemid=119 The question at hand is: Which rubber fits this unholy apperition? MapleLeaf VSR-rubber was a no-go, and the MapleLeaf Decepticons rubber didn't work either. The seller was of no help either, and since I don't have the time and energy to throw more money at this issue I thought I'd ask around. If somebody knows which hop-up rubber works, and a store that carries it (preferablt European or Scandinavian, but beggars can't be choosers) you'll make me ever so happy!
3vi1-D4n
Its an AEG barrel, You have to grind down the hop window so it would fit the VSR rubbers.
