New Maruzen APS SR-2

Recommended Posts

One man's trash is another man's treasure... For me, this falls firmly in the 'trash' category (apperance wise, not quality wise).

What in the hell is behind this unholy need to slap an M4 stock on every frakkin' gun out there?!

This was flagged a while back, but evidently it's out now.

I'll dig out the link in a sec but basically it was confirmed as being a target rifle for the APS competition that Maruzen run and is only meant to be accurate at miniscule distances. Has no hop, and basically would not be skirmish worthy sadly :(

I doubt it, if you look at the pics in the original thread (which I will dig out in a sec I promise) the entire bolt assembly appears to be a unique shape..

there ya are. It's a shame, despite loathing anything armlite related, I actually like the look of this rifle in spite of it's armalite esque appearance

**edit** infact yo can see the difference in the bolt assembly better in the pics linked by the OP here

I liked the look of this (after replacing the standard M4 stock with something better) but if it dosent have a hop this things going to fail so hard it will have its own gravitational pull....everything that fails will resolve around it

This is total and complete FAIL!

Don't see any skirmish point in it at all.

'FireKnife'

Well...thats kinda the point! It's not meant to be a skirmish rifle! It's built for their APS cup tournament, at ranges well below skirmish ranges.

SR = Simple rifle, NOT sniper ifle

I consider it a shame that they have stopped producing the APS2, and started making this. While I've got nothing to support this statement on, I'm willing to bet they are looking after the home market (much like how Digicon are stopping the production of heavyweight ammo).

Hopefully they will release something better in the near future...

Seeing as people seem to be glossing over what I've posted I'll directly quote the cahp from the original thread..

"I'm afraid that SR doesn't mean 'Sniper Rifle'. It means 'Simple Rifle' and that's just what this is.

It's intended to be an entry level model for the Japanese APS cup competition and uses APS 3 parts and no hop to ensure consistency at the 10 meter range the competition requires. Previously all beginners either modified the CA870 (de-hopping a charger was popular) or shelled out for a Type96.

If you don't like it, cool, but it has been built with the APS cup in mind, not sniping or skirmishing. For this, Maruzen have their target audience dialed in and they only live in Japan."

No, there is no hop up. Yes, they are looking at their home market. Because it is designed for their APS cup, NOT skirmishing.

But as ugly as it is....I do think it's pretty :P lol

I suppose it could be used to introduce armalite lovers to sniper rifles and I suppose if the stock is at 1st position then it helps when standing up for aiming with a zoom scope(well it does for me when I'm DM'ing with my WA)

This gun is meant to be light, with the only accesories meant for it being an aimpoint and bipod, it is meant to be used when standing up hence the pistol grip and adjustable stock to introduce 'softers to snipers peak...

or it could just be a race gun

Fascinating speculation there Terrorist Killer, however you may want to practice reading previous posts in a thread before posting. :P

Interesting though... I'd never heard of the Japanese APS cup.

"Muzzle Velocity: 270-185 FPS with 0.2g BBs"???

so... which is it? 185 or 270fps?

Maybe it's adjustable?

If it's designed for a specific competition, maybe they have different classes for different power levels and it's designed to be used in more than one category?
