Well the Asahi WA2000, nice gun a bit expensive though :D

and much too rare :(

And aren't the M82 Barrets also Semi-Auto in RL?

I know that the Smokey Barret isn't semi, but the VFC one right?

Well I guess that are all if you don't count all the Armalite-Sniper Version (SR-15/25, Match, whatever.....)

Hmm after the push for DMR equipment from America and other states (which the SR-15/25 and the Armaltie Match are classed as) it would stand to reason that there be a few more of them made...

seems a shame as I quite like the old L1A1 DMR rifle as well as the MSG-90 and other semi auto ones, I just prefer to get a second shot of slightly quicker than a bolt action.

;)

Yes, they are semi auto. I think the SR15 or the M21 are the bestest sniping platforms. They are both dead sexy too. You also have the Zastava (no airsoft model yet), And those Ruger things.

Once, again the Zastava is forgotten. And the VSS.

anyone know if there is a modern German dmr version of the g36? or do they use a g3 still?

- it doesnt seem like there are any decent "out of the box" weapons there? - yet another ploy to make you flash the cash me thinks!

I believe some Dragonovs are semi auto (but use AK reciever).

M14 is the best semi auto to get IMO  ;)

all the dragonovs are semi auto (well, both the full length and the S) and a proper dragonov doesnt use an AK receiver. even the Zavastas (not a big fan of them) dont use an AK receiver.

but the SVU (bullpup SVD) comes in a full auto varient :D

and the VSS is select fire too.

As far as I know there is no DMR G36 around.

Well there are some really nice Sniper Rifles around here in Germany but none of them exists in a Airsoft version, for example a Erma SPR100 a SP66 or a DSR-1 but none of them is semi and none of them is airsoft so :(

Its a pity there aint more dedicated Semi Auto Snipers in Airsoft, especially when you think of all the good weapons out there... still most manufacturers are setting up for the Hi C**pper and the Assault nut.

I've just gotten an M14 to modify into an M21 and my local site (where I'd be using it) will allow it to rate alongside a standard Bolt action :D I've had the argument before that the Semi Auto is not as good as BA but at these ranges its just a case of looks...

Personally I'd never class a G3/SG-1 as a DMR weapon in Airsoft, most people have them rigges for a LSW role OK, there'd be some who will actually use it as designed but that's some (and there are 4 at my site and none use it SA only).

anyhow I just like Semi Auto's (and there easier being Left Handed)...

Would'nt that be the SL8 & SL9? However is these are classed as sniper rifles would'nt the sr25's etc also be the same?

Im sorry if im way off the ball.

no your right - but as you say the sl8/9 are sniper rifles as appossed to dm rifles.

cant say id say no to one though!

correct me if im wrong but a dmr is an accurised standard weapon?

ie m14 =m21

m16 = sr25 etc

it is a shame there are not more dm rifles available!

i belive when rifles are being tested the most accurate ones are pushed to one side and reserved for DMR standings

the SR25 however isnt an accurised armalite, therefore not a DMR. its a 7.62 Sniper rifle. the the accurised armalites are the SPR's arent they?

So a DMR is an accurised regular rifle would the  H&K G3SG-1 be one?

http://www.hkpro.com/g3sg1.htm

i would guess so!

i believe that the German army use it as their dm rifle!

the British army uses a version of the sa80 for their dm rifle!

right??

i believe you average dmr is essentially a regular rifle that has a heavier barrel - perhaps a match barrel and better sights

or summit like that anyway!

i didnt know the sr25 was in 7.62 in that case yes it would be a sniper rifle

im sure i read that a dmr has/usually chambers the same round as that of the regular rifle to allow for ammo swapping etc!

- do a wikipedia search as its all on there!

  • 3 weeks later...

The version of the SA-80 (L85) you're referring to is the L86 LSW Light Support Weapon, and is actually more like a very light machine gun, it has a longer barrel than the 85, also a bipod, it still uses the SUSAT, and standard 30rd mags, it's used more as a light machine gun than a DM rifle (that's the official word anyway)

Everyone I've ever known who used one said that it's better as a DM, because the standard mag capacity makes it difficult to use in automatic, although I personally think that it's ideal as a sort of hybrid, firing bursts to suppress at range, when the guys with 85's can only fire single shots.
