A Hard Decision.....

im planning on a new way of playing airsoft....

somehow hi-cap magazines just dont suit me anymore....

im looking into more realism than anything....

heres my plan:

i was to get more mags for my m9's and P226....

cause i want the realism of having something blowback....

and having a load of pistol mags on me, with the real amount of rounds.....

the other plan was getting more Mid's and Real Cap Mags for my current AEG's...

mp5, g36, and sr.....

which one would be better....

Im more leaning toward the pistol cause of the blowback.....

i was thinking the same idea a while back but the gas consumption put me. It would cost u a can per game day atleast, too many gas mags could mean u drop em and they break or lose them. One soltion would be the marushin m2. I know its 8mm but its a rifle so better range on it, with realism.

just my 2 cence.

in your position id get some mid-caps. you get a decent amount of rounds for using with an AEG but you also get, to some extent at least, a decent amount of realism as you arent carrying around hundreds of rounds in 1 or 2 magazines.

another advantage of mid-caps is they dont rattle lol

I take the middle ground.

Have my GBB with a couple of mags for close encounters and a goodly number of AEG mags (or whatever main I have) about me.

As Belle says, teaches you a different game (not better, just different).

They're roughly $500 new, but then you need another $500 in upgrades to get it skirmish-worthy.

Escort MP5 is 422 dollars from Gunsnguys, add to that shipping costs and cost of the air rig and you're looking at about 600 dollars.

Remember the Escort can take AEG MP5 magazines, so no expensive magazines as per GBB mags. The recoil is also far more impressive than that of any GBB.

Since no one has asked yet, what do you play (woodland/CQB etc).

Personally, i would pick one pistol and one rifle and buy midcaps/GBB mags for them as buying the above for your whole collection at once can be painfull.

TBH you only need about 3 GBB mags if you are careful with your shots, you may also want to get one of those gas resovoir grenades to save you carrying a can of gas around.

Hardboiledcop-You know any place selling WA mag bumpers at all?? I want to either get the S&W ones or one similar to a bob chow allowing me to fill from a gas grenade.

I have gone theway of the midcap almost exclusively. I have a hicap or 2 for all my AEGs and auto-winder boxes for my support weapons. But the rest is all 100 - or under - round mids. Something about the hicap reflexively causes me lay on the trigger and hose out the bbs. The mids force me into better trigger discipline and better target selection and acquisition. I also carry 2-3 mags for my M9, usually loaded with 15.

MAG midcaps are very cost friendly if you're thinking about going this route.

Realcaps are slightly unrealistic (in my opinion) anyway because they only carry 30 rounds. If you take an average that due to range and inherent inaccuracies in bb's, 1 bullet is equal to 3 or more bb's, midcaps are really what you want.

I use all mid-caps (100 rd MAG). It saves me a lot of ammo (I use less than half the ammo I ever did with hi-caps), and it requires me to play more... tactically? or about as much as you can in airsoft ;). I don't use realcaps because the way my techie set up my upgrades it's recommended that I use bursts of 10+ rounds. So, in a way, it's quite realistic because if I time it right i'll get 9-10 bursts in one mag. I can empty a mag in about 5-6 seconds, which prevents me from hosing areas.

I'd also recommend taking the middle ground. Invest in those midcaps (you won't regret it), but don't neglect the pistols. I'd say... whichever pistol you prefer more, get more mags for it. when it worked (I got a KJ USP, don't EVER make that mistake), I used it fairly frequently, so even though you do have an AEG the sidearm is still always fun.

i dont like this claim...

with my CA based m4, its only 328, but it shoots a good 50m flat, and consistently, i use only realcaps, and semi auto, and find i can take out targets easily and have no ammo issues... its play style...

As far as I know, most people play 1 hit, 1 kill. So I don't knwo where you're going with that. Innaccuracy? How accurate do you think combat soldiers can shoot out to 550 yards(the effective range of an M16) once the bullets start flying at them? My guess is; not much better than airsofters can do at thier max. effective range(about 150 feet).

Midcaps for me, I like reloading. Makes the game a little more frantic knowing you are gonna empty the mag earlier than using a hicap. I also like the certainty that with the exception of an empty mag it won't stop firing, none of this winding rubbish.

But to be fair, I bought the MAG H&K plastic ones because...well they were cheap, filled up the pouches, and had H&K on them... Quite apart from the fact they work well.

Carrying 30 rounders, or enough to make the game 'fun' really takes a lot of gear and imo really isn't worth it if you're playing in woodland. I find bbs get blocked or ricocheted by everything. You really do need a few to get through to your target. I imagine it might be different in CQB with smaller engagement ranges etc.

If you find with midcaps you have mags left over, either you don't have to bring them the next time, thereby lightening your kit, or saves you refilling before the next game. Or you could get more stuck in and cover your mates a bit better rather than relying on the bloke with the support weapon. :D

I don't think the ESCORT blowback guns are overly expensive, seeing as how most people end up putting at least 700 to 1000 dollars into their guns after external/internal upgrades anyways, and the OP wanted to have a loadout that favors realism. You can get a ESCORT MP5 DIY kit for $390 shipped right now, add a box (or 2) of the STAR 30 round lowcaps and I think you've got the realism down pretty good... although I wouldn't personally use the realcaps (do the STAR 30 rounders allow users to finish the whole mag or do the last 3~4 bbs get stuck in the mag like most AEG magazines?)

It is true that ESCORT guns need some TLC to achieve maxmimum performance, but if you want realism, there are few better alternatives.

My STAR G36 30 round mags feed and leave about 3 bb's in the chamber (that can be fired upside down if in a sticky situation :P )
