Hi guys, those which care to remeber, I started out doing SEAL based impressions, but I'm jumping ship and trying my hand at an SF impressions :P

I've got myself some dummy 14's, M9 over the 226 and ditched my beloved Mk.14 :(

It's far from the finished article, as there's stuff I'm not happy with. What needs changing:

-Sort out my M4, it's literally stock, probably will go for a Bl0ck I M4, with a KAC Stlye RAS and such, but with a 553 for a more "transitional" look

-Get myself another pair of SI boots

-Ditch the Pantac "MLCS" style MBITR pouch for the SFLCS style one (Hopefully with an SFLCS if I can find one cheap enough)

-Possibly get myself some new gloves, although I kinda like flight gloves

I'd appreciate some criticisms guys, as I'm still a bit of a n00b when it comes to SF stuff!

Anyway, here's where I'm currently at:

You've got a good base to work on already from your SEAL impression, and have pretty much got spot on the things that need to be changed.

I'd look on ebay for the SFLCS MBITR pouch, be warned through that they do not good for pennies in general; that said you could get away with using either the Paraclete or Blackhawk MBITR pouches as I've seen both used. The 2-hole Norotos IMO suggests SEALs, but there was the recently posted pic of someone using one (dressed in MC and armed with a Mk14 as well). If you want to stick with a Norotos, grab yourself a 1-hole - there's repro ones kicking around. The flight gloves are okay, not seem very often but this doesn't necessarily mean that their not being worn; if you do want to change them then go for Oakleys or even Mechanix. Personally I'd remove the (civi model) admin pouch and replace it with a couple of pistol mag pouches.

^^ Thanks for the advice

I have a few ref. photos knocking about with the 3-hole being used, but I definately agree the 1-hole would have been more appropriate - I know the picture you're talking about though. I'm pretty sure this guy is SF, but it's so hard to tell sometimes with alot of unit's looking the same at a glance.

The 14's and peltors suggest SF, but the 2001, maybe not.

As far as gloves are concerned I have a pair of SI's ... bought them so long ago for use on my mountain bike, just never used them for airsoft. I'm not particuarly fond of Mechanix, but I considered a pair of Hatch or similar. I'll look into it though.

And as for pistol pouches, the Kydex ones are the way forward I assume?

And as for the Paraclete and BH pouches, you don't happen to have any pictures do you? I have a feeling though that Pantac recently released some MBITR pouches with the flap, simmilar to that of the SFLCS/FSBEII stuff.

It's just annoying that my kit is at a 50/50 spilt on which it wants to be and there's still alot which needs ironing out - but that's the fun (Yet wallet hating part) of putting together an impression right? :P

I would ditch the PACA, never seen pics of SF guys using them. Although they do use other types of low vis. armor carriers, but just not low vis. BALCS PACAs. I would also suggest getting a khaki Eagle plate carrier with cummerbund. They arent really seen wearing RRV and back plates really.

And as a general rule of thumb, having all SFLCS pouches doesnt necessarily make it a good configuration. I would suggest throwing in some Paraclete, tactical tailor, and some other types of good gear in there in addition to SFLCS. Kinda get a mix of things.

I showed your list to my classmate, his first thought was that you're carrying too many 1911 mags. A lot of you guys are carrying too much ammo for a genuine pack, at least according to him. Yeah, others may do it differently, but apparently even on the DA ops they ran relatively light.

Cool stuff. Although the leg bag seems a bit over kill given the large pouches on the DOAV. But that's just me.

Not accurate at all. The PACA is fine I have seen plenty of pictures from Afghanistan that have shown it in use.

@MYSL1 that khakit / tan DOAV is super nice. I dig it ALOT!

Are you sure its an actual PACA, not a safariland SFLCS low vis carrier, Paraclete RAV low vis carrier, BCS BALCS carrier, and a list of others? Can you post those pics?

Im not saying that they dont use low vis carriers, but not that specific model of PACA that people usually refer to by saying the term PACA (BALCS cut, front and rear hard armor plates, usually tan with velcro on the front). Ive seen a couple pics from like late 2003/2004 where they have tan PACAs that are different models than that.

No I don't save every photo I see on the internet. And yeah they were definetly NOT wearing BCS, RAV LVC, etc. It was a plain jane tan PACA. The LVC's in the numerous LCS kits are all copies of PACA's. So for Airsoft purposes PACA is fine.

If you get too wrapped around the axels with some of the "details" you miss the point of this GAME. And there is ALOT of stuff that goes on and that is used that really doesn't see alot of documentation on the internet and make it into the hands of the gear collectors out there.
