Thats not a contractor, i dont care what others say. The vest (and more importantly 229) is in line with RMP CP teams, or certain Brigade Reconnaisance Force elements.

 

So he's not SF either.

 

Plus, why would a contractor want to be confused with a soldier? Soldiers are actively targeted by insurgents whereas contractors wish to stay as low profile as possible. It makes no sense.

The only times I've heard of are when they are working directly with the soldiers and don't want to look like the odd one out, who might be important enough to target rather than the soldiers.

That would make sense in Iraq, where contractors were seen as easy targets.

In afghanistan there is a clear distinction between soldiers and contractors, its a totally different war.

A CP operator in Afghan does not want to look like a soldier.

Pretty much all those pouches are WAS that's for sure, look at those rifle/pistol shingles in particular:

And the magazines inside them look like they've been dipped in DDPM or something, which is very odd.
