BigAl
Are Hybrid Slides and Barrels currently available for the Hi Cappa. If I cant find one for my old WA Excelarator Hybrid I may have to build a Hi Cappa. Edited March 5, 2007 by BigAl
zenazareth
Thanks gents. It is [was] a TM Hi Capa. The Sherrif beavertail was modified to fit. At the moment, I have a real steel STI beavertail (blued) inbound from stiguns.com to replace it. I've done it before --they fit with minor modding. And yes, BigAl, Shooters Design makes Hybrid slides, barrels and chambers with matching trades. The trick these days is finding all three in stock... And for those wondering, I can't say enough good about the SD CNC'd frame. I don't see many people with them, so if you're wondering if they're worth the investment, I'd say go for it if you have the coin. The SD frame and SD slide went together snug with no rattle and just minor finishing for a perfect fit. Say, 10 minutes.
Mathub
My brother has one of this SD frame for his hicapa. The fitting is ok, but getting decent performance is not so easy. For people interested, my PGC slide won't go on the SD frame. Edited March 5, 2007 by Mathub
zenazareth
The fitting is ok, but getting decent performance is not so easy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What does that mean, exactly --"getting decent performance"? Is the slide sticking on its return? Does it rattle in the middle? Perhaps I could help.
Mathub
Well, the contact between the magazine rubber and the nozzle is not that great, resulting in poor blowback. But the problem may be the slide.

zenazareth
How long is that shroud? Can it cover a 7" barrel on a Hi Capa 5.1? Also, how is the Nine Ball Dyna Piston? I can't find an objective review for it.
hkssr20det
How long is that shroud? Can it cover a 7" barrel on a Hi Capa 5.1? Also, how is the Nine Ball Dyna Piston? I can't find an objective review for it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The six inch in my 4.3 goes right to the end, so it may cover a 7inch in a 5.1. I don't know about the 5.1, but PDI warns you that it is fit for a 4.3, I think it probably has to do with the clearance on the back to fit over the outer barrel, but I don't have a 5.1 to try. I like the Dyna Piston. I think it matter which gun it is in, but the PDI piston I had in before was too tight (but PDI works perfectly in my P226), got in the way of the nozzle moving. The spring it is shipped with for in front of the floating valve (or what ever you call it) messes things up, don't bother fitting it.
