gerrysnaps
It's a copy of the Knights QD flashhider. On the real thing the cut allows a suppressor to be attached properly.
Tommygunn
Reaper16, PM me if you want a quick fix to the CA peq blocking the iron sights issue. Don't be coy, spill the beans. Best I know, with experience of a G&P unit, is to simply remove the centre line PEQ controls. The flashider cut-out is to accept the centering peg that is mounted inside of the QD suppressor. TOM0067
I've decided to customize a little my SRC M933 2nd GEN. The flash gives the metal body a strange green color. Hope you like. Comments welcome.

Fuser
Just fooling around. With a .45 silencer on a 5.56 rifle. And no BUIS or optic. Its a work in progress... They're kind of grainy, I haven't been able to take any pics outside yet.
thomasw
Hey how easy was it to remove the flash hider? I know on most CA's it is glued on.
El_Boomo
almost finished my rifle. sorry for poor quality pics. used to be a CA M15A4 carbine. ive replaced everything on it over the years and the only remaining parts are the inner barrel and hop unit. which will also be changed. also needs a new stock and a respray. its one heavy-*albatross* gun though. and thats the re-assembled parts of the M15A4 next to it
Fuser
Hey how easy was it to remove the flash hider? I know on most CA's it is glued on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Remove a little pin with a hex wrench, and turn the hider right. Not possible to take it off unless you use a wrench, which is why there are those two small flat surfaces on either side of the hider. I tried to take it off by hand...I can still see the mark it left today. And I was wearing gloves.
icedragon62001
Hey how easy was it to remove the flash hider? I know on most CA's it is glued on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> mine took a bit of work, sat there for 2 hours with a hair dryer warming up the adhesive before it was soft enough for me to take a wrench and twist it off. AVELLIN
Paint thinner, acetone, or nail polish remover would've saved you some time.
Fuser
Not if he's trying to remove a metal flash hider to attach another or a silencer.
thomasw
We are talking about the actual flash hider, not the orange paint. I doubt you could get any liquids down in there.
AVELLIN
Just to break the adhesive lose.
Fuser
What?! How do you get any liquid at all between the barrel and a flash hider thats that tight? Please explain how any of those could break down the adhesive between the threads of an attached flash hider. The only way to do it, as he said, is to heat the metal and slightly melt the unexposed glue. Edited June 21, 2007 by Render
ViciousV10s
All you need to do is take that set screw out and use a long wrench. Longer the wrench the better, as you will have more torque and it will be easy to loosen. Just make sure you are turning in the proper direction..clockwise.

Comments welcome. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice. I remember my first SRC, it was a plastic body first gen, I wasn't too happy about the QC. I hope the newer ones are better. Hispeed1
hispeed: its a 14.5 barrel taken from the long cqb RAS and the RAS is from the long G&P sniper RAS <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice-I researched the infamous Recce/Recon rifle on the web and got some specs for the external parts. I hope to build one very soon...

Sarge133
Got my G&P Aimpoint in today. I no longer have to worry about not seeing the sights as the aimpoint naturally goes just over the PEQ.
Souske
You're kidding about the AP sitting high enough right? Nice CA you got there though.
Sarge133
Im not kidding, all I did was mount it and turned it on, the dot sits exactly ontop of my raised front sight. About 2-3mm above the PEQ.
MERCILESSPIT
Im not kidding, all I did was mount it and turned it on, the dot sits exactly ontop of my raised front sight. About 2-3mm above the PEQ. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That may be true, but until you get a rear site on the gun, and co-witness the iron-sights to the dot, you don't know that it's zeroed in. The reason Souske thinks you're kidding is because of the low mount you have, it'd be imposible for the dot to be correctly sighted in on top of the post. You'll be shooting way low unless your hop-up is turned up to the moon to compensate.
