Lerch
Looks good, although I think if you scrawled your details in Russian it'd look better

niko.90
Did some artificial wear on the gun and magazine . I think I'm done now, any suggestions? That wood needs more wear, IMO it just looks weird when body is nicely worn but other parts look like they haven't seen any action yet.
sgt_stinger
Going for the worn vietnam look JG M16 with metal body, (ALL IS FOR SALE PM ME IF YOU WANT A BIT!)
1st Commando
A few of my bruised and battered AKSU74 I'll add some pics of the AKM once I have put it back together again maybe some of the other Aegs from the armoury too
1st Commando
not being funny but what exactly is "vietnam" era about the M16 ? 30 rnd mags ,round foregrip ,long stock ,H bar, removeable carry handle and shelved pistol grip all point to later models ! Not to mention details like cartridge deflector and re-enforcing ribs etc on the reciever :S Edited April 20, 2008 by 1st Commando
azngoonie313
Looks good, although I think if you scrawled your details in Russian it'd look better I actually bought a used bakelite mag, it had sharpie on it so i just decided to keep it on and see what it looked like. and it works! For my next mag, I'm actually getting my Russian friend to help me write some words. I'll post pics when im done That wood needs more wear, IMO it just looks weird when body is nicely worn but other parts look like they haven't seen any action yet. Yea, totally agree. But I did wear down the wood, just doesn't really show up as much when I take pics with my flash. But it could use a little more, any techniques anyone knows of that wants to share with me? TheKurodaVagrant
Going for the worn vietnam look JG M16 with metal body, (ALL IS FOR SALE PM ME IF YOU WANT A BIT!) More like late 1990s-early 2000s. There's nothing Vietnam about that gun.
Souske
Speaking of worn M16 receivers.... I did this last year back in March or so. It was inspired by the old GAU5 carbines with new M4A1 upper receivers the AFSOC guys would have used before most of them were replaced by the complete M4A1s. If I only had an A1 lower receiver, it would have been better.
1st Commando
now I do like the finish on that ! How did you get the lower reciever to look like that ? drybrushing ?
Souske
Haha, thanks. No, no drybrushing done that time. The receiver was metal, so I completely removed the paint down to the bare surface. I then prepared the surface, then 'forced' cold-blue solution on there. You can't normally blue aluminum, but you can lightly stain it if done correctly.
Whitedingo
Souske, if you really want that "A1" look to the lower, there's a tutorial I've used a few times to modify metal bodies to the correct profile. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&...23&t=294264 Just a little before halfway down the page it starts. Just a thought, if you really want that GAU-5 look.
ardrummer292
And that, boys and girls, was our daily schooling from Souske. That GAU-5 is epic win. I love the contrasting finishes and the paintjob, very accurate and well thought out.
Bloodsword
Haha Souske is recycling old seen pictures again

Too bad it reflected the sunlight too much, or I would have kept it that way.
ancorp
I think I outta post this here too. Say hello to my "Rusty", an Iraqi survival rifle. Only a little worn

ancorp
Wow, does it actually still shoot?? Like new. I of course took out the internals before the weathering.
Souske
Haha, ok. It looks great though! If I wasn't told it was airsoft, I would have never guessed it was an AEG. What exactly did you do?
Whitedingo
My guess is he tied the front sight to a string and then spun around like a 6 year old on a sugar high while holding the other end of the string....then buried it, soaked it with a hose. Probably let it sit for a week, then ###### (urinated) on it, and buried it again! Edited April 25, 2008 by Whitedingo
Guinness
very impressive Ancorp!! Slainte!

I don't think aluminum can corrode like that...unless I'm thinking of a thinking metal.
